GOVERNOR PALIN ANNOUNCES NO SECOND TERM, NO LAME DUCK SESSION EITHER
State of Alaska Governor's Office ^ | 3 July 2009 | State of Alaska Governor's Office

GOVERNOR PALIN ANNOUNCES NO SECOND TERM NO LAME DUCK SESSION EITHER July 3, 2009, Anchorage, Alaska – Governor Sarah Palin announced today that she will not seek a second term as Governor of the State of Alaska and will relegate the power of governor to Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell in order to serve Alaska’s best interests. Lieutenant General Craig Campbell will move into Parnell’s current role.

“People who know me know that besides faith and family, nothing's more important to me than our beloved Alaska,” said Governor Palin. “Serving her people is the greatest honor I could imagine.” Standing outside her home in Wasilla, Alaska, Governor Palin reflected upon some of the administration’s accomplishments for Alaska as she approaches her final year in office. “I am determined to take the right path for Alaska even though it is not the easiest path,” said Governor Palin after the announcement. “Once I decided not to run for re-election, I also felt that to embrace the conventional ‘Lame Duck’ status in this particular climate would just be another dose of ‘politics as usual,’ something I campaigned against and will always oppose. It is my duty to always protect our great state. With that in mind, my family and I determined that it is best to make a difference this summer, and I am willing to change things, so that this administration, with its positive agenda, its accomplishments, and its successful road to an incredible future, can continue without interruption and with great administrative and legislative success. I look forward to helping others – to fight for our state and our country, and campaign for those who believe in smaller government, free enterprise, strong national security, support for our troops, and energy independence.” The transfer of power will occur following the Governor’s picnic in Fairbanks on July 26. At that point in time, Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell will be sworn in and Lieutenant General Craig Campbell will assume his role as Lieutenant Governor. Governor Palin will spend July 4th in Juneau.

Oh yes, Varney just had some a$$ on insisting this made Romney the defacto republican candidate for president.

Ha ha ha ha ha, that will be the day.

Why don’t we wait a little while before we start hyperventilating and start sticking the fork in?

If she isn’t running for president, who could blame her. I am one of her ardent supporters and would be disappointed, but she still can do a lot for the conservative cause.

What do you all expect the MSM (even Fox, sadly) to do at this sudden announcement, blow kisses in her direction and wish her well?

She’s already a Gov, what does she have to prove!

the moment she expresses an interest in a presidential bid, every rival, Republican and Democrat, will uncork the ready-made zinger: "If elected, would she serve the full four years, or quit sometime in the third year again?"

She is doing the political equivalent of running at the attacker, not hiding behind a rock.

Hmm, I wonder. It’s unusual for someone to just up and quit an important political job. Perhaps she is tired of having her children attacked all the time. I know I would be.

I liked SP until she made such a poor showing in that Katie Couric interview. Honestly, I don’t know how she got hung up on such easy questions. Then, of course, the media attacked like rabid dogs, and I believe they accomplished their task of making her look dumb. I am not saying she is dumb, but she has been “Quayled”, or as another Freeper pointed out to me, “Forded”. At any rate, I don’t think she can recover from that. The lamestream media will see to it.

No, I’m not a Romdneybot. I can’t stand him. Big hypocrite -coming out against Obamacare when it is the same as Romneycare, and by any name, it stinks.

I hope she starts sticking her foot out tomorrow to trip up that dumb bass-turd in the whitehouse and keeps it up every day until Nov. 2012
(or the idiot resigns)

“If she makes the most of it, THIS ‘IS’ the best move she could make.”

Not only that we now have as an advocate, the only person in the world that can knock Obama and Michael Jackson off of the front page. This is not good news for Obummer.

Sarah is free to articulate the issues that matter most to us. Go Sarah! My money will go to her PAC instead of the RNC that’s for sure.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrZIRb53EPI time to change the words some.

Say it ain’t so, Joe...famous quote from the past applicable to this situation. Unfortunately I know it is true. Damn. This will give the press a field day because they, the McCain’s and other RINOs will figure they finally forced her out. Having no pulpit and being in Alaska is not a good thing politically IMO.

I have to admit I feel a bit better after actually hearing the announcement. This COULD be brilliant actually. And they’ll STILL be sniping at her! I hope the media and her detractors feel some shame.
