GOVERNOR PALIN ANNOUNCES NO SECOND TERM, NO LAME DUCK SESSION EITHER
State of Alaska Governor's Office ^ | 3 July 2009 | State of Alaska Governor's Office

GOVERNOR PALIN ANNOUNCES NO SECOND TERM NO LAME DUCK SESSION EITHER July 3, 2009, Anchorage, Alaska – Governor Sarah Palin announced today that she will not seek a second term as Governor of the State of Alaska and will relegate the power of governor to Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell in order to serve Alaska’s best interests. Lieutenant General Craig Campbell will move into Parnell’s current role.

“People who know me know that besides faith and family, nothing's more important to me than our beloved Alaska,” said Governor Palin. “Serving her people is the greatest honor I could imagine.” Standing outside her home in Wasilla, Alaska, Governor Palin reflected upon some of the administration’s accomplishments for Alaska as she approaches her final year in office. “I am determined to take the right path for Alaska even though it is not the easiest path,” said Governor Palin after the announcement. “Once I decided not to run for re-election, I also felt that to embrace the conventional ‘Lame Duck’ status in this particular climate would just be another dose of ‘politics as usual,’ something I campaigned against and will always oppose. It is my duty to always protect our great state. With that in mind, my family and I determined that it is best to make a difference this summer, and I am willing to change things, so that this administration, with its positive agenda, its accomplishments, and its successful road to an incredible future, can continue without interruption and with great administrative and legislative success. I look forward to helping others – to fight for our state and our country, and campaign for those who believe in smaller government, free enterprise, strong national security, support for our troops, and energy independence.” The transfer of power will occur following the Governor’s picnic in Fairbanks on July 26. At that point in time, Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell will be sworn in and Lieutenant General Craig Campbell will assume his role as Lieutenant Governor. Governor Palin will spend July 4th in Juneau.

And she said she was to fight on. To “take a stand.”

Get real.

Quitting in the middle of only your FIRST term is NOT "taking a stand". It is quitting.

She just gave her enemies the biggest victory that could have possibly hoped for.

Why do you think they kept filing all those frivolous lawsuits...? To get rid of her.

Reading your post, with the emphasis on the word “Fight”, that’s what that idiot McLame promised at the Convention—to fight, with him, for America.

Sarah actually means this.

You need to think out of the box.

Sarah just changed the political landscape for the futre, for the better.

She has accomplished the things she set out to do as Governor. Those accomplishments will have long lasting benefits to Alaska and to America.

If she walked away and stayed home, you would be right.

But that is not what she is doing.

She is unshackling herself from being a target to being the aggressor. From defense to offense.

The MSM will always try to destroy her.

But she is not an average politician,

She actually believes the things she says.

Sarah actually means this.

Absolutely. As I said in another post, her detractors are more afraid of her today than they were yesterday.Today's fight speech has them squirming.

The MSM and DNC bus is now ready for boarding.

Notice they outsourced that as well.

You need to think out of the box.

Just worthless conjecture on your part.

Sarah just changed the political landscape for the futre, for the better.

More conjuecture.

If she walked away and stayed home, you would be right.

She just walked away from the important job she was elected to do. So I am right.

She is unshackling herself from being a target to being the aggressor. From defense to offense.

She is quitting two thirds of the way through her FIRST term as governor. That is now how she will be depicted from her on out by the the MSM, pundits and late night talk show hosts. Get used to it.

The MSM will always try to destroy her.

And she has given them more ammo than they could have hoped possibly hoped for...

But she is not an average politician,

Neither was Reagan, but it least he was still able to complete his *first* term...

She actually believes the things she says<

Gee, and so does Kucinich. I'm not trying to compare Sarah with Dennis, but for G*d's sake, at least finish one full term of your office without quitting...

Talk to me in eight months, and we’ll see who did more conjecturing here.

Gladly.

But you already have "top ten lists" popping up all over the blogs/internet.

So, what of it—you scared of “top ten” lists?

She is making her own path, and you don’t like it.

And you have been a Governor of a state how long, exactly?

So you would keep a job that you would be ineffective in just to say you didn’t quit.
I love Chaney but he should have resigned sometime after the 04 election so we could have had a VP to run for President.

It's not a matter of being "scared", it's about the derision and the jokes being able to effectively drown out virtually everything you have to say beyond this point. She has given her detractors that opening...

She is making her own path, and you don’t like it.

It's not about me "not liking it"; it is simply about poor political judgement.

And you have been a Governor of a state how long, exactly?

A strawman argument.

You certainly don't have to be in public office to realize that a politician has made a mistake.

If I was a governor with Presidential aspirations, no, I would have not quit in the middle of my first term.

We didn't really need a a "VP" to run for President. Al Gore proves that argument.

On the whole, America was served well by having Cheney there for a second term. His passionate defense of the WOT policies over the past several months proves that.

I believe it. But Wood, if you have any inside info, please share it.

We need Sarah more than she needs us, and I wouldn’t blame her if she gave up on politics and just went about her life.

But America needs her desperatly.

I liked Ronald Regan until that first Mondale debate. He looked old and confused and the media made him out to be an old man with a narrow grasp on reality.

Really, the whole country thought he was suffering from dementia.

There is no coming back from that.

Sarah is greater than the MSM. If not than she would already be a footnote in republican history.

Politicly speaking: Sarah is the ONE.

She is destiny

Sarah is greater than the MSM.

Frankly, Sarah wasn't even "greater" than John McCain or his inept staff in last year's campaign.

Even she couldn't mitigate their boneheaded mistakes and backstabbing.

Three years is an eternity in politics. Don't hold your breath.
