It’s stuff like that that led nme to tell the RNC to go to heck when they called me last week for a donation.

The GOP leadership sux, and big time.

I’m with you on this. If the left wing of the party doesn’t mind following on the important things, I don’t have a problem with them voting with us.

Any politician who wants to carry the GOP brand, however needs to be solid on 4 or 5 major planks.

Pro-RTL.
Pro-RKBA.
Smaller-government.
Deficit-reduction.
Borders.

No we don’t, but seeing how a lot of these self-serving politicians do, it’s odd (not really) that they choose to ignore polls that show how wrong they truly are.

I want to WIN the next election and support Steele.Big Tent is what’s needed.

Dude, where the heck have you been? The Republican Party has been a Big Tent party ever since Bush was elected. Why do you want to support the same goals that the Dems support?

I want to win too, but if a "big tent" means accepting the unacceptable then I would rather loose. And it's not that I'm a one issue voter. It is that a politician who are willing to sell out on any issue of this magnitude are not trust worthy. And if they actually believe pro murder is an appropriate position their reasoning skills are flawed.

Below is from George Washington’s Farewell Address!

Warns against the party system.

“It serves to distract the Public Councils, and enfeeble
the Public Administration.. agitates the Community with
ill-founded jealousies and false alarms; kindles the
animosity of one.. against another..

it opens the door to foreign influence and corruption..
thus the policy and the will of one country are subjected
to the policy and will of another.”

Nowhere did that poll suggest that the majority of Americans want the federal government to regulate abortion. Abortion is an issue best left to the states. Besides, when did conservatives start believing Gallup polls?

No he’s not saying the right thing. There is one thing in supporting a Candidate that believes abortion is wrong but will not stand in the way of restricting it like Rudy Giuliani and one that is going to be working with planned parenthood and voting with the liberals on the issue. That is not acceptable. So far Bob Casey has been voting with the liberals since being elected to the Senate so I’ll wait and see where that goes. That said I can not personally support anyone who believes Abortion is a constitutional right. If one believes Roe vs Wade is good law then they are not fit to be a Republican.

Polls are a function of who you ask and how you ask!! That is why you take them with a grain of salt, they may be a bit different the next time, the long term trend is more important.

All polls since they started polling that question have shown a clear majority have always supported restrictions. Whether it be a the state or federal level is usually not a distinction that is made.

Abortion is an issue best left to the states.

If you want to "leave" the unalienable right to life to the states, which other unalienable rights do you want the states to be able to alienate if they want to? Free speech? Free association? Religious liberty? The right to keep and bear arms? The right to a jury trial? What?

imho, McCain was not the proper candidate at this point in time. He was not able to carry the message. Most people don't understand or care about earmarks. They care about me, me, me. Obama filled that void. If he had stood his ground and not rushed back to Washington to vote for the bail out (after saying he wouldn't), I doubt that most would have noticed or cared. You and I would...but not most.

I don't think the Pubs need to change what used to be their message. They need a good salesman to peddle who they are.

At least when he tries to get you to “look at him” it is to get you to for once consider the fundamental principles on which our liberty and our free republic are predicated. I know that seems odd to some of you, but hopefully someday you’ll wake up to the fact that he’s one of the few political people left in this country who’s telling you the unvarnished truth.

If he flubs up much more he is gone.

He's already ceded the debate by adopting the leftist propaganda of "pro-choice." The RNC should immediately call those who support abortion by it's proper name: Pro-abortionists.
