In his daily briefing Monday, Robert Gibbs distanced the president from comedian Wanda Sykes’ joke comparing Rush Limbaugh to a 9/11 hijacker at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner.
"I don't know how the guests get booked,” Gibbs said, adding that he hadn’t “talked specifically” with Obama about Sykes’ crack.
“I think there are a lot of topics that are better left for serious reflection rather than comedy. I think there's no doubt 9/11 is part of that,” Gibbs continued.

Follow up question for Gibbs: “If President Obama feels the same way, why was he laughing as she was delivering those lines?”
Does he know how bad this makes him look? Gibbs is saying he doesn’t know how guests got booked for this event? So now we’re going to say the White House has no idea how Wanda Sykes ended up on the guest list? So we’re saying that nobody in the White House invited her? She just showed up at the front door and they showed her to her seat? Doesn’t pass the smell test.

No, he is covering Obama’s ass. As always, Obama has to have it both ways. He enjoyed the demonization of Rush, Cheney, and Hannity and now his spokesman is saying that he doesn’t support it. Good cop—Obama; bad cop—Wanda Sykes.
I mean, I can understand that Gibbs might not know every single person who was invited to the event, but Wanda was on the speaker/entertainer list. Somebody had to put her on that short list.
