France, Germany endorse Obama's Afghanistan plans (Totally misleading and biased title)

France and Germany fully endorsed President Barack Obama's new Afghan war strategy but continued to firmly resist U.S. demands for more combat troops on Saturday in a rift that overshadowed symbols of unity at NATO's 60th-anniversary summit.

Obama told NATO leaders the alliance should remain open to new members, another stance that is likely to meet resistance from his allies. Germany, France and many other NATO nations believe that any more eastward expansion will further damage ties Russia that the alliance is trying hard to mend.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel and two dozen other NATO leaders walked across a bridge separating Germany and France in a moment of unity before the summit began. The leaders met French President Nicolas Sarkozy at the halfway point on the Europa bridge spanning the Rhine river — a symbolic departure from the enmity that once tore apart Europe and a setting aside of current differences, at least for a few minutes.

I sounds like the President was not briefed on the issue. Winging it will not work.

The world, and especially Old Europe who have always hated us for showing their sorry socialist asses the ultimate blessings the ideal of democracy they created and now eshew can bestow, are loving our obtuse and self-destructive Obama amateur hour!

If I may compete with the First Lady,”For the first time in my life,I am ashamed to be an American.”

The Teleprompter made him say it.

After reading the coverage of the NATO meetings, the only conclusion I can draw is that Obama was told: FUBO.

Great plan, but you’re on your own, dude.

Let us know how it works out.

“France and Germany fully endorsed President Barack Obama’s new Afghan war strategy but continued to firmly resist U.S. demands”

Yes, only the MSM could pen such a ludicrous statement and consider it reasonable.

They patted Comrade Obama on the back and said , “ Hey Dude , that’s a great plan”. As soon as he left they laughed their asses off and said , “What an idiot. I hope his check clears.”

it was made clear before that Obama will not get more combat troops from Europe. this has little to nothing to do about the fact if they “like” Obama or not. this is just daily politics. True that the afghanistan war is not as unpopular like for example Iraq in most of Europe. But then again where is the goal? what are the objects “we” try to fulfill? and most important when do we see an improvement in the current situation? More troops means that politicians will have to “sell” it to the public before sending in. and as long as a majority of the public doesn´t see this, no sane politician will commit political suicide in his own country by sending in more troops.

Are there any photoshop experts out there? I'd really love to see a picture of EU leaders with a "FUBO" button on their lapels.

IMO, that was the message most of them were sending to 44.

You are kidding,right rookie?

Do you think RR would meet with the socialist America haters and not get a solid commitment from them to help us fight Islamofascists or face the evil bastards on their own?

Bush was too soft and Obama is even softer, but with his so-called “mandate” BHO could have gotten the Euroweenies to intercept a few terrorist bullets that would otherwise be entering our soldiers in the desperate defense of Western Civilization.

Only the Brits and Israelis care to share the blood cost and BHO is telling both to kiss off!

The self-image of the average MSM "journalist", at least in their dreams:

In reality, here's the correct image of the average MSM "journalist", when it comes to reporting on Democrats:

Agree for sure. The French and the Germans, especially the Germans, support us (U.S.) if they don’t have to remove their hairnets and leave their barracks...

well first calling all europeans as euroweenies (btw. this includes me because i´m european too) without any valid argument is a little bit lame. and more important do you really believe that troop commitments to afghanistan from europe have anything to do if some one “loves” or “hates” america? then welcome to the world of politics. then again troops who are fighting right now in afghanistan are defending western civilization? yes true if they fight al kaida. but then again how many times do they battle al kaida in afghanistan? the most actual fighting in afghanistan is against the taliban and against local war lords. and this people do not care about “western” or even something “we” would call civilization in any form. this war was lost at the beginning because to occupy afghanistan has never worked or achieved anything in history. Well maybe we should have just bombed the crap out of them in the beginning and then tell them we will be back doing the same every time they harbor al kaida (and if they don´t just leave them alone to grow their poppies and contine slaughtering them selfes, because this is all they did in the last hundret years and they will not stop doing this..). maybe that would have worked. i don´t know btw. but it´s useless to discuss this right now because this times are gone and the troops are there. newsflash the taliban are not interested in destroying “western” civilization outside their country. all they want is to contine their useless life the only way they ever learned to live. this are a bunch of local religious fanatics who never cared if they kill their own population, their selfs or anyone else. as long as they can fight someone they seem to be happy. the only thing they like more then killing each other is killing forreign troops. to really stop this you would have to annihilate the whole population in afghanistan. and even this would not solve the terrorist “problem” because the terrorist (you know the guys who really want to kill us all and our “western” world) would then again move in from bordering countries like pakistan. so given this whole situation how does a european politican explain the public why he/she will send in more troops to fight and die? what is the goal? untill you find something you can tell your people in your country sending in more troops is just political suicide back home. that´s all. has nothing to do if someone likes america or not, just daily politics.

just daily politics.

That's the problem...it's all politics.

Unfortunately, radical Islamists do want to destroy Western Civilization, and England is a perfect example.

IMO, Europe has not changed over the past 30 years. During my tour in Germany, I lived "on the economy" for three-plus glorious years. During the 1980 election, my German neighbors pleaded with me to not vote for Reagan, as they were sure he was going to start WWIII.

Thankfully, my German conversational abilities had improved to the point that I was able to gently and persuasively disabuse them of that notion. Shortly after the election, I was invited to sit at the stammtische (a table reserved for family/friends of the family) of my local gasthaus. I cherish that honor to this day.
