Come on April, respond if you got the courage. Make your case for someone who could replace Wagoner. If you are so smart give me some potential candidates.

FOR THE THIRD TIME THIS TREAD>>>>> LUTZ. BOB LUTZ as interim CEO. He has the vision and experience and the unions like him. He can do it.

There is a lot of truth in what you say. Between the Greenies and the unions in this country, they have done everything within their power to make it more difficult to profitably manufacture cars here.

It's time to tell those clowns in DC to stick it up their tailpipes and go home.

I can not wait for GM and Chrysler to go.

You must be posting from a Psycho Ward. Do you have any notion on how bad it would be for GM or even Chrysler to go under. It would be a terrible blow for an economy already on the edge.

No I'm not a hack for the Unions as I'm sure some of the dolts on this site might think (insofar as they can think). It isn't like manufacturing in general is healthy in the US. Manufacturing is in serious trouble. It has been for a very long time. Give me some examples of manufacturing companies that are doing well. You won't be able to think of any.

The government has made manufacturing very difficult here in the US.

We must have manufacturing to have a healthy economy. This "green" jobs thing is a fantasy. If you believe in it you are a major fool.

It sets a dangerous and unAmerican precident for the federal government to become involved in the affairs of a corporation. This should be the duty of the board of directors and shareholders to decide who to hire and who to fire. By what right does the President of the United States have a right to decide who works at any corporation? Where is that in the Constitution?

GM and Ford had lots of Government company during WWII. The government backed off after the war.

Negative, they could even be built here (see the Saturn Ion, Saturn Astra, Chevy Cobalt, and Chevy HHR - those are all based of GM Euro designs, though not the ones they should have been based on, and were screwed up by the UAW with the exception of the Astra, which GM just imports directly from Belgium) so union jobs would be unaffected. That said, NOW they will probably be held up by government regs.

Maybe they should elect Truthguy as CEO. He sure has the passion and that's what has been missing from the US auto industry since the 1950s. I like this guy!

One does wonder...as the states take all this stimulus/bailout money for their inability to run their operations, does Obama have the right to ask all the governors/legislators to step down, to be replaced by suitable Obamanistas?

I will, from this day forward, endeavor to avoid purchasing a product, or using a service, built by or provided by, a union company.

Hear! Hear!

I would like for some 'reporter' to ask Obama that question. I know it's a fat chance that will happen since they are the lackeys who are chosen BEFORE the 'news' conference who are allowed to ask him anything.

Can you imagine if Pres. Bush had hand chosen who could ask him questions during any of his news conferences?! He would be front page news calling him a dictator. What's the difference now?!

I'm 100% with you on this one. Green jobs are crazy. They don't exist and as soon as green products are invented (assuming commercial viability) the manufacture will be exported to cheaper labor markets. These things can't be easily made by robots.
