Screening Obama: White House looks to install new teleprompter, Prez to get fed info at press events
American Spectator ^ | 2.16.09 @ 6:09AM | the Prowler

the White House is looking to install a small video or computer screen into the podium used by the president for press conferences and events in the White House. "It would make it easier for the comms guys to pass along information without being obvious about it," says the adviser.

The screen would indicate whom to call on, seat placement for journalists, pass along notes or points to hit, and so forth, says the adviser.

Using a screen is nothing new for Obama; almost nothing he said in supposedly unscripted townhall events during the presidential campaign was unscripted, down to many of the questions and the answers to those questions. Teleprompter screens at the events scrolled not only his opening remarks, but also statistics and information he could use to answer questions.

Obama had a teleprompter set up for his remarks last week, before taking questions, but the White House couldn't use the teleprompter for anything but the remarks, because the journalists were so close to the screens. Further complicating matters, teleprompter copy can't be easily updated in real time, in a setting like a White House press conference.

We used to have a president with a degree from Yale, an MBA from Harvard, who could fly a jet, who ran a successful business, had been governor of one of our largest, most populous states, and who won a major war in the Middle East.

But that guy was a moron.

Now we have a president who needs to receive prompts from a guy in a control booth so that he doesn't totally embarass himself in front of a syncophantic press corps.

All hail Obama!

idiocracy was on TV last night.

It is a REALLY poorly made movie but ironically it has some really parallel points with Obama.

The “hero” of the movie finds a black president who is giving off fluff speeches using a teleprompter.

(premise, stupid people breed fast and joe average is put to sleep to wake up 500 years later to find only stupid people left on the planet.)

All of this to cover the ineptitude of Flop Ears.

He is told what to say.

What a fine media we have in the US. That they could actually pretend this arrogant poser has the capability to answer based on his own grasp and knowledge.

I guess the teleprompter ebnables him to fly around, party and yuck it up with the sheeple at townhalls. He doesn’t need to study to sell BS to them. They are empty vessels ready and willing to take the pocket change and empty platitudes offered.

Maybe the teleprompter and the president could trade roles, with Teleprompter at the podium and Obama kind of off to the side.

What they are admitting is Zero needs a cheat sheet and minions behind the screen to answer questions from the press. This certainly doesn’t instill confidence in either him or the country he represents. Yet another sign of this man’s weaknesses. Hang on to your hats boys and girls, this man may get us all killed yet.

Unbelievable. The first question of every press conference (in my fantasy world) would be “Are you going to be fed the answers to the question from your prompter? Or will you step away from the podium?”

Why of course. We can’t have this lightweight-socialist, propagandists-created, con-man’s packaging becoming unwrapped during propagandist’s conferences...CAN WE?
