Too many ignorant people have no idea what socialized medicine really means.

Does Japan have nationalized or private health care?

Shortage of doctors? Can this be caused by anything other than government interference in Japan’s health care industry?

Can’t wait ‘till jackass obama does the same for us.

And the he will blame it on mean Republicans.

Japan uses a “social insurance” system in which all citizens are required to have health insurance, either through their work or purchased from a nonprofit, community-based plan. Those who can’t afford the premiums receive public assistance. Most health insurance is private; doctors and almost all hospitals are in the private sector. Sound like Obama’s plan to anyone?

Actually, their shortage is from not having babies. Their population is in a death spiral... too many old people, no young people.

We'll be facing the same problem soon.

We already have the same problem here. We have a shortage of neurosurgeons and orthopedists willing to take trauma call. Often patients are flighted to a facility out of their area to obtain the treatment they need. This is especially common with children as more and more neuro and ortho specialists don’t have malpractice coverage to treat pediatric cases.

Having been in a Japanese hospital, not as a patient, I was left with the impression that you could have eaten off the floors. It was spotless.

Very true. I just shudder at the thought of baby boomers living into their 80’s and 90’s, 55 trillion needed to pay for their S.S. and lacking the health care facilities to handle that burden.

I had the same experience in Korea. However, it doesn't do anyone any good if you can't get in when you need it.

In the Japanese health care system, healthcare services, including free screening examinations for particular diseases, prenatal care, and infectious disease control, are provided by national and local governments. Payment for personal medical services is offered through a universal health care insurance system that provides relative equality of access, with fees set by a government committee. People without insurance through employers can participate in a national health insurance program administered by local governments. Since 1973, all elderly persons have been covered by government-sponsored insurance. Patients are free to select physicians or facilities of their choice. It is compulsory to be enrolled in a Japanese insurance program if you are a resident of Japan.

Gotta' love Government HealthCare, it's great!

This case is VERY unusual —usually when we hear of this, it’s an illegal alien, like a bar hostess who has a broken bone, or something.

Most hospitals really frown on illegal aliens there.

I remember a case like this for a Thai prostitute who was thrown off the 3rd story of a hotel; they went around, sirens wailing, and most hospitals refused to treat her.

That’s very sad, but I think the US should have no law saying we MUST treat illegals —sorry..!

Yep, that’s sure one solution to “overpopulation”.
Also, ever note how people whining about “overpopulation” seem to be the anti-war, anti-death-penalty types? C’mon, is there anything wrong with wanting consistency?
