Coulter, Harry Take Each Other On NEW YORK, Jan. 6, 2009(CBS) Ann Coulter says liberals should look in the mirror.
In her latest book, "Guilty: Liberal 'Victims' and Their Assault on America," the conservative firebrand stirs up controversy again, contending that liberals in America try to play victim when really, they're the bullies.
While she's at it, she points fingers at what she calls the liberal media.
"(The book is) basically about how victimhood is rewarded and everyone wants to be a victim," Coulter told CBS News. "It's about the rewards and praise you get for being a victim and the way liberals use victimhood and they oppress others."
At one point in "Guilty," Coulter remarks about an interview of Sen. Ted Kennedy by Early Show co-anchor Harry Smith in which Smith asks Kennedy if Barack Obama is at increased risk of being assassinated because he's African American. She dismisses the notion, saying presidential assassinations have been the work of left-wingers or people with no political leanings at all.

Who is Harry Smith?
The body language of Ann’s segment with Smith spoke volumes.
I never saw a host invade a guest’s personal space as many times as Harry. Never.
He constantly pointed, leaned over to her to confront her, used his hands in off putting gestures forcefully, not once, dozens of times.
Rude, crude, and ineffectual in the long run.
Ann was having none of it.
Conservatives must take their gloves off and expose the Muslim Messiah, Pelosi, Reid, and the rest of the waste in DC. All Liberals fear truth and exposure more than anything else. They exist on lies, distortions, propaganda, and cover ups by the mainstream media. Take away their lies and ploys and they’re on a par with terrorists. They’re doing as much damage to America, our security, our military, our freedom as any terrorist could. Since the average American doesn’t want to hear the truth, we have to spend 24/7 exposing them and the truth in every way possible.

The whole “take a breath” exchange with Smith is what happens when someone like Ann answers the question more completely and intelligently than the interviewer expected. He has no cogent response, so he paints her as a filibustering hysteric. I’m glad she continued to complete the answer.

She’s brilliant. She handled him with grace. He was reduced to snide insults.

Ann said not one word that was in error. But ol’ Harry fighting back, you could almost see the flecks of foam.
You wouldn’t want to get a tomcat that blazing mad. But Ann seemed to have no aversion to poking ol’ Harry with a stick.

When he said that condescendingly arrogant “Take a breath. Take a breath” to Ann, that was it. Ann had far more grace and civility than I would have been able to muster.
Harry would be laying on the floor.
Harry really looked like a grumpy old man, who either couldn’t hear or couldn’t comprehend...his ridiculously snarky comment “You should have a cross”....made me wanna puke.
She was so much more intelligent and better prepared for his interview than he was it was almost sad when he got a chance to speak and reveal how ignorant he truly is.
Too bad she didn't think to say..."Why, can't you keep up?"

I only watched to see this interview and saw exactly what you did. The whole crew there are a bunch of dumba$$es, even the weather guy had to throw in his displeasure at having to follow her. Smith was a jerk and only enforces what she says about him and libs.
That’s the first time I have ever seen that Smith dude.

Harry was sounding like Charlie Rose but Ann was, well, Ann.
No wonder she infuriates the liberals; they can not have a serious conversation with her because she’s so quick that she throws everything back at them. Liberal interviewers like to be in charge and most conservatives are polite and sit and accept the premise the interviewer starts off with. Ann challenges it and throws it right back at them with facts wrapped in a clever response. It was frustrating as heck for Harry Smith.

I don’t see what’s so controversila about Ann’spoint. Democrats have always got into power by convincing the masses that ‘they’ are victims. Republican’s get into power by convincing the masses that ‘they’ are in control of their own lives. I never buy the Dems message but, as in this last election, it is an effective political sometimes.
One of my favorite sarcastic sayings is, “I won’t be free until the government sends me a check.” Keep going Annn.
Talk about ratings, NBC shows it is more concerned with its advocacy journalism than any real exchange of ideas and thoughts.

Smith tried to put her down at the end by commenting that “serious” conservative National Review authors don’t like her. She responded they’re upset just because they can’t sell as many books as she can.
The point is, we need both “serious” conservatives and Ann to counteract liberal dominance in the media. Some would says she misrepresents conservatism and gives it a bad name. But instead she points out the hypocrisy of liberals in a way most people understand and her humor (sometime outrageous) makes it all the easier to read her books.
To anger a conservative, tell him a lie,
to anger a liberal, tell him the truth.
To defeat the left, expose the left.
Their true agenda and beliefs would not be accepted by 80% of the country.
