“James Hansen, sent a letter to Barack and Michelle Obama specifically urging the president-elect to enact a tax on carbon emissions that would take money from higher-income Americans and distribute the proceeds to the less fortunate.”
Environmentalists are socialists? Is this news?

Why are my tax dollars paying Hansen’s salary?
If that letter is on official NASA letterhead, he needs to be fired.
Either he works for NASA or he hawks the Global Warming Hoax—he can’t do both.

This issue must be our battle ground in the next two years. Global Warming is a global socialist plot, period. There is no evidence of rising temperatures or rising seas, but it is accepted as fact in the media and no one is questioning this garbage in the public eye. This threat must be mitigated or it will be the Trojan Horse that the Dems will use to jack up taxes without public outrage....it is all in the name of saving the planet, don’t you know.

What a shameful POS. This is more evidence that leftists make stuff up like global warming just to confiscate wealth from others.

Is Hanson insane or evil? He's certainly not simply misguided. I know he's an ideologue, so I'd have to say that he's got to fit into the evil category.
Man, the barbarians are at the gate and they're waving carbon credits. These people are clear and present dangers to the civilized Western world. Since every civilization is ultimately limited by its energy use, what better way to destroy it than to starve it for energy at the source? Zip into the mitochondria and stop the electron transport chain at the earliest stage and the mighty organism nearly instantly collapses and dies.
Anything that produces CO2 is too "dirty." Damming rivers is too "disruptive." Nuclear power is too "dangerous." Too bad someone couldn't come up with a relatively limitless supply of completely clean energy (nuclear comes the closest) because they would oppose this in a heartbeat as well. They would say that this energy source would need their regulation because it would result in hyper-accelerated use of other natural resources for individualized consumerism and weaken our communal bonds and the need for government to chart out worthy uses of our time and interests.

Now we understand the agenda a little better, in which a new layer of taxation is being applied.
But what was wrong with the old system of trading your time and talents for an earned wage, or selling the product of your ingenuity and labor, then trading your earnings back for the luxuries and necessities you deem vital to your life?
Sure, the outcome may be unequal, but what is “equal” about the result of giving unearned income to those who did not work for it, or did not demonstrate any rational claim on that cash flow?
If you want to give away part of your income to another, then by all means, adopt that pet project and give your income away. It is the element of “compulsary” donations that is the ugly aspect here.

The public will support the tax if it is returned to them, equal shares on a per capita basis (half shares for children up to a maximum of two child-shares per family), deposited monthly in bank accounts. I'm awaiting his follow-up letter where he suggests Obama implement mandatory abortions for any woman who already has two children. Given how much of a misanthropic Kool Aid drinker this guy seems to be to me, it wouldn't surprise me to find out he supports Chinese population control efforts.

The irony, of course, is that once Obama gets done slashing NASA’s budget, they won’t have enough money a janitor.

Good to see Hansen coming right out with his true motives behind global warming as a tool for social manipulation.

James E. Hansen (science fraud), needs the words “science fraud” permanently attached to his name. He should rightfully join the panoply of the great science frauds of history: But he also has a place in their highest tier, of those frauds who did so with intent of malicious harm to as many people as possible, as well as science itself.
Trofim Lysenko
Paul Ralph Ehrlich
