CCS Headline News - Superintendent's Response to YouTube
I was shocked when I saw the clip of an interaction between a Cumberland County Schools teacher and her students as posted on YouTube. While neutral discussion of the political process is appropriate, at no time, particularly with elementary students, should a teacher infuse his/her political views into the discussion. Most disconcerting was the military slant that made its way into this discussion. We are a military community, serving over 15,000 military students and their families. We value the sacrifices, not only of the military parents but also those of their families.
We believe that military children are our children, military spouses are many of our employees, and military service men and women are our heroes. We proudly serve our military children and have received national awards for our support of military families.
I was particularly disturbed to see the uncomfortable position in which our children were placed due to the inappropriate actions of one of our teachers. Please be assured that the actions exhibited in this video are not consistent with the vision of the CCS. Moreover, the actions of one teacher do not represent the 7000 employees in our organization.
Once the video was brought to my attention, I immediately launched an investigation. Personnel laws prevent me from releasing information regarding individual employees and personnel action taken. I can assure you that upon completion of the investigation, I will take appropriate action.
Dr. William Harrison CCS' Superintendent
Sure, we believe you.
Good for him. Seems to be a timely and appropriate response.
Actions, sir, actions.
When you fire the loon-ess, I’ll believe you.
I’d say she’s a goner.
But she’s black.
Will the “appropriate action” be a gift basket and promotion to school Principal?
She’ll get the Dear Leaders highest proletariat award.
Worse that making comments is her stupidity at believing John McCain meant literally “100 years” when she should know his intent was “we will take as long as it takes to defeat the terrorists.”
All I can say is thank God for JROTC, a good football coach, and a particular History professor in college to help me break through the mind control before it took. God and Parents get the most credit though.
Of course, the NEA will supply her an attorney, but given the video evidence I think she is a goner.
The antidote is massive, massive exposure. If they can sweep it under the rug, they can save her a$$. If we can keep it on the burner, she’s toast.
Who did the video???
The appropriate action would be to have this stupid woman apologize to the little girl infront of all her classmates and then have her explain to them all WHY she was wrong and then FIRE HER ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She should be made to publicly apologize and then fired on the spot.
What is most disturbing about this video is that the teacher knew the camera was filming. What goes on in the classroom when no other adults are present?
Swedish film company.
Here’s an interesting question. What does it take a Swedish film crew to expose indoctrination in American schools?
But shes black.
And that's the trump card...
Abolish government schools!
A Swedish news service
Fayetteville would be nothing but a widespread slum if it wasn’t for Ft. Bragg’s and Pope AFB’s service members and their families.
I wonder what the military’s reaction to this “teachers” remarks are...
Ms. Harris... future Secretary of Education in the Obama administration?
thanks for your diligence with this doug!
we all need to share the contact information you provided far & wide
She has been there 5 years, so she has tenure. My guess is that she will be quietly moved to a job at the district office.
She’s moving to Chicago anyway - to become a distinguished professor. There will be an opening in January, when Bill Ayers moves to Washington to become Secretary of Education.
She could probably make a killing on the university lecture circuit 0_0

Be nice if it was cleaning the bathrooms.
Don't get caught on film moron!
just words, just speeches - never any consequences for a rat.
Look, if you listen or read a transcript, the teacher is illiterate - how sad for the children that they can’t even hear proper English spoken in their classrooms. For some children that is the ONLY place they WILL hear it.
I think he means it.
Yes - that is an excellent point. This lady certainly was on her “best behavior,” so if she thinks that this is OK in front of a film crew, I can only imagine what she does with her private audience.
I would never condone this. Ever.
Wrist slap? Hell, she just made the cut for Sec. Education.
BB, that would be correct IF they thought they were doing something wrong. This video shows quite clearly she thought she was doing the right thing and was quite proud of herself. In other words she is too stupid to understand how wrong this really was. On that basis alone she ought never be allowed to “teach” children again.
Also disturbing is that the Super (if he is to be believed) didn't find out about this from the students or parent complaints, but from a youtube video. If that is true, then I'm afraid the kids have just become accustomed to sitting silently waiting for the tirades to be over. They then become more of the mind numbed sheeple.
If a high-school kid browbeat or bullied another kid like this, he'd be suspended during prom week and probably lose his chance at a driver's license for a year. They know how to hit the kids where it hurts. Why not imbeciles like this who behave far worse?
I wouldn't say that. The general consensus is they are angry--angry at the hypocrisy, angry at the system. That's why the drop out rate is so high and community colleges are offering high school completion, distance learning, and GED programs. Some students stay long enough to complete their driver's education program and then drop out.
"But shes black."
Yup. It'll all be swept under the rug and we'll be told that we should learn from this dear woman's experiences. It was slavery that made her say these things.
Exactly. She thought what she was doing with the camera running was okay. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
When my sons came to me with similar situations, they always begged me not to call the school. They were always afraid that nothing was going to be done & the teacher would retaliate. Sitting quietly & taking it was preferred to potential blow back. It was almost like they had Stockholm Syndrome. If the students aren’t talking, how is anyone gonna know?
