What If McCain Wins?
Newsweak ^ | November 1, 2008 | Denis MacShane

Posted on 11/01/2008 1:35:51 PM PDT by Kukai

If John McCain becomes the next U.S. president, it will send europe into a fit of despair not seen on the old continent in decades. After all, Barack Obama is Europe's candidate, so much so that French President Nicolas Sarkozy—so happy to spend a vacation day with George W. Bush—turned Obama's fleeting summer stopover in Paris into an orchestrated photo op, to milk maximum publicity from the Democratic candidate. In Britain, Conservative M.P.s seem to have forgotten that McCain had been the keynote foreign speaker at the Conservative Party

conference just last year and now openly wear Obama buttons as they gossip in the House of Commons corridors and tearoom. German Christian Democrats from Angela Merkel's party swelled the 200,000-strong crowd who listened to Obama in Berlin in July. For the European left, Obama is the savior, McCain irrelevant. The intelligentsia and the political weeklies in every European capital seem to have long ago agreed to write off McCain and splash Obama's face on every front cover. If he loses, narrowly or otherwise, there will be a sense that America has lost its senses.

Ever since McCain chose Sarah Palin as his running mate, Europe has looked down its collective nose at the thought of a McCain presidency. Little matter that Europe is awash with populist politicians of its own. Italy's Silvio Berlusconi or the late Jorg Haider in Austria proved that crude sloganeering and appeals to the gut rather than the intellect were as common in Europe, despite the self-regarding belief of Europeans that their political life is conducted on a higher plane than in America.

How many Electoral Votes does Europe have?

Last time I checked... ZERO!

Defeatist Europia slips further and further down the toilet. Rather than hope that a strong U.S. can help pull them back up, they’re satisfied with seeing us slip to their depths. Let no one be ahead of anyone else; better to let everyone compete for the bottom of the heap. Socialists!

If he [Obama} loses, narrowly or otherwise, there will be a sense that America has lost its senses.

Actually, the fact that a socialist with a Muslim upbringing and terrorist and black nationalist allies up the wazoo is so close to becoming U.S. President is proof in itself that America has lost its senses. ....even if he loses. In a sane America a subversive like Barack Hussein Obama not only wouldn't be a Presidential candidate, he'd be deported. ...at the very least.

You must not have been around in the 1950’s to enjoy those great ol’ horror flicks. The victim(s) always pulled for their fallen side. They looked at the unconverted as fresh meat, not a way to be helped back to a normal life.

Good. The EU has always looked down their socialist noses at the USA.

Who cares what the Europeans think?

The Germans love Obama and they loved Hitler too.

How many European soldiers have died on American soil, protecting our freedoms from invaders?

How many millions of European "dollars" have gone into rebuilding our cities and infrastructure.

How many European cities will allow us to move to their respective countries, and draw welfare, and work while paying no taxes?

How many European countries have made their governments and living conditions pleasant enough to keep their people from migrating to America by the thousands?

How many?

And we should give a damn at what Europe thinks about who WE elect for President? Obama is NOT their man...they don't have a horse in this race. They're only nosy spectators and all choice means to them is how much they are likely to get from us after the election.

Remember, we won our freedom from England and Europe, many, many decades ago...and we're not giving it back.

Perhaps as his first act of post-election compassion, McCain should authorize the Department of Whining Democrats, DOWD, with its adjunct office, the Psychiatric Corps, in major cities across the US. In order not to burden the already stetched Treasury Dep’t, it could be sponsored by the big drug companies dispensing various tranquilizers and antidepressants, picking up and transporting the participants in great big, heavy, gas-guzzling cars to re-education centers where the unemployed “0bama Corps” drill instructors could see if these folks could be turned into productive members of society through “tough love”. It would be a program of proper bedmaking, hygeine, and other forms of personal responsibility.

Places like Philly and Atlanta are going to need some backup.

The governors of Pennsylvania and Georgia have the National Guard available. Although one might say, "Get the FReepers out and let them riot."

Does anyone not on the left really care what Europe thinks about us. I for ONE could care less about Europe, and I certainly don’t want any European SOCIALISM gaining ground over here.

It is a fact, a FACT, many times over the years that Europe can/could not survive without the United States of America! So they should be cheering for McCain/Palin to win if they still want to survive as a group of free countries!

We will win this!!!
