If the World Could Vote: Reader's Digest
Reader's Digest: November 2008 ^ | November 2008 | Carl M. Cannon

The best reason I've seen yet illustrating why it is not in America's best interest to elect Obama. If "the world" prefers Obama, it seems likely their reasons serve them, rather than the United States.~lsee

How the World Sees Us, by Carl M. Cannon

It's a good thing for John McCain that only American citizens can vote in U.S. presidential elections. If the election were held overseas, or even in the rest of North America, the Republican nominee wouldn't stand a chance.

This was just one of the remarkable findings in a new Reader's Digest Global Poll in which we asked people in 17 countries, including the United States, to name the issues they care about most and tell how they feel about the United States and the presidential contenders.

"It's Obama by a landslide—except in the country in which he's actually running for president," says John Fredricks, director of polling and research for Reader's Digest. "What is most striking is the margin of his support."

If the world could vote everything in the world would be a mess. Zimbabwe would be a paradise.

I read this article a week or two back. What is really telling is that countries like the Netherlands and France overwhlemingly disappove of us, but the article also reveals that the majority of them would like to move to the US of A.

Snivelling, hypocritical, envious jackasses - everyone.

If the world could vote America would be the same socialist hell hole the rest of the world is.

I care about what the U.S. thinks about the election....not the rest of the world. If they don’t like what we do, stop asking us for money.

On the other hand, your average American could not name the leaders of any of those countries listed in that survey. I really don’t see how this is relevent to anything. Personally, I could care less about what a bunch of foreigners think about our president or our country.

We are the world. Really. If we weren’t, the rest of the freaking world wouldn’t want to keep coming here. And if we hadn’t gone and saved the damned world a couple of times over, the US would be here.

As fast as the US is swinging towards socialism, we can’t keep up with the rest of the world.

Readers Digest is a left-wing rag.

My grandmother buys a subscription for us, and I don't have the heart to tell her we don't appreciate it.

We just put them on the tank of the shitter (where they belong), and read the decent stories.

This one is like a PUSH POLL, telling us how the wordl thinks we are STUPID for not voting for "The One"

F**k them.

Eurotrash Socialists.

Yes...perfect, isn’t it? I find it comical that they have such strong opinions about this, given that I generally don’t care who they select to run their own country. I figure that is their business, unless it threatens us directly.
