Although Rush Limbaugh doesn't actually work from a bunker, he does have a bunker mentality. His studio is on the third floor of a (purposefully) anonymous building 100 yards off the white sands of Palm Beach, Florida, and about a mile from his gated mansion (the one next to Chuck Norris's). Along with the Gulfstream jet (cost: $54 million), fleet of sports cars and eight-year contract, worth $400 million, this mansion is his reward for being the most listened-to talk-radio host in America, a title he has held for 20 years.
But it is also his compensation. Professional Right-wing controversialists do tend to upset people, and Limbaugh has had his share of death threats. He has also had his quota of criticism from the media, or the liberal media, as he tends to call it. He hates interviews and has rarely given any, though he does have a soft spot for this newspaper, because it was once owned by his sometime friend and neighbour Conrad Black (currently serving a 6½-year jail sentence for fraud; Limbaugh wrote a letter to the judge attesting to Lord Black's good character).

An “inside baseball” cigar store reference at the end of the article. It seems that Desmond Sautter’s of Mayfair specializes in the better Cuban stogies. The writer appreciates a very generous wager.
A bit snarky here and there, but still well worth the read.
What’s kind of funny is that although this reporter writes very well, it gets better every time Rush speaks.
Rush is remarkable. He can talk impromptu better than an excellent (if snarky) reporter can write.
Hard to believe all you radical socialists are so very afraid of such a lovable fuzzball radio personality.
But then again, it's hard to believe radical socialists have gained such (supposed) power in the USA.
We shall see who claims ditto rights, soon.
"I actually believe that most of their support for Obama is that they are creaming in their jeans about the historical nature of the campaign. They want to be a part of it.They want to make it happen. They want a stake in it. They want to be able to say they did it if Obama wins."
Same with the pollsters, in my opinion. This is why so many different polls are so varied, all over the map. Because of the different modes each are using to skew results the results are different, but all pointing towards an Obama victory.
CBS, (no surprise here), is one of the most egregious with Obama still far out ahead of McCain.
Liberals are either amoral or immoral, no middle, and no scruples about them.
I’ve come to appreciate Rush mainly as an entertainer and performer. I don’t need someone telling me how to think, but I do appreciate his perspective and clever twists on things, like Operation Chaos. In contrast to some (like Hannity) who repeat the same old littany of things over and over, Rush is always insightful and fresh. It’s a unique talent and he certainly deserves everything he’s earned.

Wow, neat home... is it the red roof or the grey roof home? both are nice...love the setting. GO RUSH!!!
Agree 100%. Rush is head and shoulders above any other talker out there. Hannity is weak, IMO. The only other show that I really care for is Bill O’Reilly. O’Reilly is good, but even he doesn’t hold a candle to Rush.
Very well written and interesting piece on El-Rushbo. Surprisingly emotional.
Operation Chaos was a stroke of genius. It kept hilary from the nomination, gave it to a guy that may not be legally able to hold the office even if he does ‘’win’’. Thanks Rush
And how do I “bump” things to the top?
Thank you for posting the article. I love Rush, he is a Godsend.
BTTT = bump to the top so others will see this
So the reporter snooped through Rush’s private medicine cabinet? Isn’t that stooping a little low even for a lib?
I always like reading about Rush. However, the author’s comment about Palin is incorrect. Rush was ecstatic about Palin from the get-go. I listened to him on that Friday when she was selected. If he ever called her a babe McCain met at a convention, it was meant ironically.
I am a three times a week listener... We have a love hate relationship, lol.
Rush is theee man. Prager is good but in a different way. Medved, Hewitt, Elder, etc aren’t even close.
Wonder if he plays pool. Yeah, I’m obsessed with it.
Anyone who listens to Rush already knows this....He is the All caring, all knowing Maha Rushie.....LOL He is right 98.8% of the time is the latest figure I believe...HAHAAHAHA
I thought it was sanctimonious. Does Nigel have a degree in psychoanalysis? He sure seemed to think he knew what makes Rush tick.
He hates being photographed, for example, because: 'They are going to try to get the most embarrassing or unflattering shot of you they can.' They. Always they. These dark forces out to get him.
Then he uses this picture of Rush in his story
As Rush would say himself, I was right ladies and gentlemen.
Don't ever doubt me!
