Despite Barack Obama's approval of abortion and homosexual activism, new polling by a prestigious Christian research group indicates that the Democratic presidential nominee is making significant inroads among voters who are classified as "born-again" Christians.
The Barna Group for research says Obama is statistically tied (43 percent to 45 percent) with Republican John McCain among born-again Christian voters. "Born-again Christians" are defined by Barna as people who say they have made a personal commitment to Jesus and believe they will go to heaven because they have confessed their sins and accepted Jesus Christ as their savior. Based on that definition, 48 percent of all voters in this election will be "born-again" Christians.
Meantime, Barna says 63 percent of "evangelicals" are supporting McCain, while 23 percent are supporting Obama. "Evangelicals" meet the "born-again" criteria, plus seven other conditions, including the belief that salvation is only possible through grace, not works.
According to Dave Kinnaman, president of The Barna Group, born-again Christians voting for Obama say they are backing the Illinois senator because they believe he will do a better job restoring America's reputation and handling the economy and agree with his stance on the Iraq War.
"People in their 20s or 30s who are born-again Christian are more likely to support Senator Obama than Senator McCain, compared to people who are older born-again Christians, who are more likely to support the Arizona senator," he explains. "So, when you look at it, it's a pretty complex set of reasons, and each person comes to this voting decision with their own unique sensibility, but what's interesting is the Christian community, compared to previous elections, is more open to this Democratic candidate than we've seen in at least the last couple national elections."
Kinnaman says it is important to keep in mind that only one in every ten voters is an evangelical Christian with a biblical worldview and understanding of what it means to be a follower of Christ.
Actually there's no contradiction at all. A great event separates Gen 4 and Gen 9, namely the Great Flood. At that point a new dispensation began, some "rules of engagement" were modified (as in allowing the eating the flesh of animals). Because of the depravity of man, God allowed capital punishment under certain circumstances. For instance, it is not acceptable punishment for killing an animal (v.5) but it is in the case of killing a man (v.6).

According to the Scriptures, the “mark of the beast” is received on the right hand or forehead. With modern technology, it is very possible that this mark may be directly linked with a computer chip. But regardless if it is or isn’t, everyone who is living immediately before the return of Christ will be forced to take this mark in order to buy or sell anything:
“He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man’s number. His number is 666” (Rev. 13:16-18).
But this mark, which will be universally issued around the entire world, MUST NOT be received under any circumstances, even by Christians! Scripture goes on to say:
“A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: ‘If ANYONE worships the beast and his image and receives his mark on the forehead or on the hand, he, too, will drink of the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. He will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment rises for ever and ever. There is no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and his image, or for anyone who receives the mark of his name. This calls for patient endurance on the part of THE SAINTS who obey God’s commandments and remain faithful to Jesus’ “ (Rev. 14:9-12).
As the mark will definitely be issued one day, as Scripture declares, the eternal destiny for all who receive that mark will also be in accordance with Scripture! Do not be deceived about this. If you are a Christian, you MUST NOT take this mark or you, too, will miss the kingdom of God and suffer eternal torment over this single act of disobedience, according to Scripture! If the popular teaching of eternal security (also known as the perseverance of the saints) was true, Rev. 14:9-12 would be an impossibility! So don’t be deceived by the teaching of eternal security. You must endure to the end to be saved (Matt. 10:22; Heb. 3:14; Rev. 2:10,11).
The people who make the eternal mistake of receiving the mark and worshiping the beast and/or his image will be deceived by accompanying miraculous signs and wonders:
“But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed the miraculous signs on his behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped his image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur” (Rev. 19:20).
“And he performed great and miraculous signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to earth in full view of men. Because of the signs he was given power to do on behalf of the first beast, he deceived the inhabitants of the earth. He ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived. He was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that it could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed” (Rev 13:13-15).
“The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness” (2 Thess. 2:9-12).
Those who refuse to receive the mark of the beast and worship his image are referred to in the following passage. These are the same ones who obey God’s commandments and remain faithful to Jesus:
“I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years” (Rev. 20:4-6).
Please notice, the “first resurrection” will not occur until the mark of the beast is made available! The first resurrection is for those who have done good and will rise to live, as opposed to those who have done evil and will rise to be condemned (Jn. 5:29). YOU WILL NOT ESCAPE A PERSONAL DECISION REGARDING THE MARK OF THE BEAST THROUGH A PRE-TRIBULATION RAPTURE. Regarding “that day” or “our being gathered to him” (2 Thess. 2:1), the Bible says:
“Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction” (2 Thess. 2:3).
Those who remain faithful to the Lord Jesus will refuse this mark, but will be beheaded as a result. This same fate for the God fearing who endure to the end is also mentioned in the following passage with another possibility for “the saints”:
“He was given power to make war against THE SAINTS and to conquer them. And he was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation. All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast — all whose names have not been written in the book of life belonging to the Lamb that was slain from the creation of the world. He who has an ear, let him hear. If anyone is to go into captivity, into captivity he will go. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, with the sword he will be killed. This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of THE SAINTS” (Rev. 13:7-10).
Dear reader, if you die in the Lord as a consequence of refusing the mark of the beast, please realize that you will immediately be in the presence of the Lord in “Paradise” (Lk. 23:43).
Regarding physical death for a Christian, Paul wrote:
“We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord” (2 Cor. 5:8).
“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far” (Phil. 1:21,23).
REGARDLESS WHAT HAPPENS, DO NOT TAKE THE MARK! There will be many who will accept it at this time. Great pressure will be on you also to conform to their example. Miracles from satanic power will deceive many into taking the mark. YOU MUST REMAIN TRUE TO GOD, EVEN IF YOU GET BEHEADED OR GO INTO CAPTIVITY AS A CONSEQUENCE. YOUR ETERNAL DESTINY HANGS IN THE BALANCE with this single act, if we are the last generation. Pass this vital information on to other people with whom you are acquainted. If we are the last generation, this could be the most important message they will ever learn. It may make the difference in where they will spend all of eternity.
“They overcame him [the devil] by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death” (Rev. 12:11). “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matt. 10:28).
Have you ever actually read Genesis? Why not start in verse 9? And the LORD said unto Cain, "Where is Abel thy brother?" And he (Cain) said, "I know not: (liar) Am I my brother's keeper?" (liberalism in its base form)
Genesis 4:10 And He said, (This HE already knew what had happened) "What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto ME from the ground.
Even in Genesis 'blood' represents life and that life was crying to the LORD.
Genesis 4:11 And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand;
verse 12 When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shall thou be in the earth."
13 And Cain said unto the LORD, "My punishment is greater than I can bear.
14 Behold, Thou has driving me out this day from the face of the earth; and from Thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth, and it shall come to pass that every one that findeth me shall slay me."
(interesting isn't it that if there was still only Adam and Eve in the whole of this earth that Cain would be worried about *every one*, not mommy and daddy finding him, so who else was Cain talking about?)
15 And the LORD said unto him, "Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, (now who else was around to slay him but mommy and daddy if there was only two people upon the earth?) vengeance shall be taken upon him sevenfold." And the LORD set a *mark* upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him. (Wonder what that 'mark' literally was?)
16 And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. (Nod means wandering... and or land of the Nomads. Hmmmmm there was already a land of wanders and yet some people claim that Adam and Eve were the first and yet only Cain at this point is the only other recorded being on the earth....
Who is missing in Genesis 5?
The notion regarding contradictions is total and complete donkey droppings as the law of thou shalt not commit premeditated homicide had not yet been given thus Cain could not be held to account for breaking what had not yet been given with the death penalty. Yet he was cursed.

I have a good friend who is born again and HE is voting for Obama. I called him on it and he hasn’t been very happy with me. I hope it hasn’t destroyed a good friendship but I had to speak out.
No, I don’t think it is BS. One of my dear friends who is a born again Christian is voting for Obama and he is NOT happy with me because I called him on it asking how a born again Christian can vote for a man who wants to steal your money and kill your babies.
Don’t fool yourself. There are even many Catholics who are supporting him. I think it’s a Bush backlash, thanks to the media who kept up the bashing against him.

He’s upset with me because I called him on it regarding abortion and gay marriage. I asked him how a Christian could vote for someone who was pro-choice, etc. I got a very nasty reply. And I don’t doubt his being a Christian either. BUT he’s also a staunch democrat. Whew. They’re tough to reach.

I was a young ignorant Christian back in the Carter days and I voted for him. In those days, however, you didn’t hear the truth about candidates like you do now. The media protected them. He SOUNDED very good to many of us.

I’ve talked with Christians who seriously think that the government taxing the income generators to pay the poor via food stamps and welfare is very much Christian. They literally think it is very anti-Christian if you are against it. They say Jesus told us to help the poor, but are completely oblivious to the chasm between “forced” giving through taxes (which is an anti-Christian concept on the face of it) and voluntary giving as with tithes and offerings. They don’t grasp the spiritual difference.
Oh, and I am sure a lot of the members of Rev. Wright’s church are “born again”. I’ll bet they are all voting for Obama. ;)
I didn’t realize just how seriously he was considering Obama. Now I know. I don’t discuss it with my Catholic sister in law because she absolutely hated Bush and I am almost 100% sure she’s going to vote for Obama. Some things you just avoid.
I’m not talking politics at my kids’ school. The private high school that my son is going to is much more conservative then the elementary school that my daughters are going to.
My son has been in public school in California all through middle school. He did say that the public school democrats were always very nasty about McCain and Bush. He said the democrats in the private school never say anything bad about McCain and Bush. He said at the Christian school everyone is very respectful about different views.
Oh man the hate for Bush by some of the so called Christians gives me the shutters. Many of them consider him to be more evil than even the devil himself. (and I am in NO way suggesting anybody but the devil)

When people in this country say the pledge of allegence, they are pledging to no man, for we believe that the individual and individual rights are the foundation upon which this country and it’s constitution were built. No man is above any other. It is why we call our “leaders” servants. They are. None of them are above me and, frankly, most politicians are really not all that smart.

We've occasionally questioned his Christianity but now won't be using his services anymore as claiming to be a Christian and voting for Obama are, in our opinion, completely inconsistent with each other. BTW, he's black, which is the only reason we believe he's voting for Obama.

Mary, Many Christians claim to be so and yet vote in a manner that is puzzling. They tend to be methodists, and other old line protestant sects. I have seen that for years. Generally they believe that is the duty of govt to take your wallet from you and hand it to someone more deserving, all in the name of forced “charity”. Do not panic, these socialists have been around, and when my church went that way, along with homosexuals in the pulpit— I and others beat feet.
These people have always been around. I doubt the numbers are much more, maybe 5% more of any group in any past election. I do not think it would swing any election.

In too many respects, Christians have our own greed, selfishness and laziness to thank for such a mess.
No. At this point I don’t think it will do any good. I’m not going to talk to either of them again about it. I’m praying for them instead. They don’t know what this will do to bring the wrath of God down on them. Maybe I just need to let it happen and not interfere with it.
I believe God has plans for this country and for each and every one of us. He tells us that in His Word. He has plans to bless us and not to harm us. We bring the harm on ourselves.
