Pay no mind to him, he's bitter because Putin is giving him the finger and NATO is sitting there with their collective thumbs up their arse.

NATO only has balls for confronting small countries and rhetoric. They better do something soon or lose complete credibility.

Think maybe Clinton justified the action taken by S Ossetia and Russia is taking their side.

Are you justifying the Russian, South Ossetian and Chechnyan attacks on innocent civilians in Georgia?

There is no justification for what they did.

I will also remind you that before there was Clinton and his dumb Kosovo policy there was Abkhazia and the Russian backed, Muslim backed ethnic cleansing of Abkhazia of 300,000 ethnic Christian Georgians.

Are you going to justify that too?

One conflict does NOT justify the other.

Correct. End of story.

“One thing about the Serbs, they have existed where they are for well over 2k years. “

IIRC, the slavic language group migrated to eastern europe *far* later than this? I do not recall (western/early empire) Roman contact with Slavs at all. I could be wrong..

:”And just what land did Germany lose post-WWII for “committing atrocities”?”

Might check a map on that, quite a bit, aside from the country and capital being divided for decades.

my guess is crimea. the baltic states are not of strategic importance afaik compared to both the crimean naval ports and the georgian pipeline.

If any of the baltic states have notable economic or strategic value, someone let me know.

I commented on a thread the other day that, despite following news actively during the bombing of serbia, I still have no idea what evidence of claimed atrocities by either side was ever actually presented. The fog of war applied, so the white house sold the situation in the way most favorable to the need to PR-up what was functionally a totally undeclared war.

“On the one hand we had a war started because someone wanted to distract attention from the fact that he was getting blowjobs in the oval office,”

That was old news, the serbia bombing was about the Cox Report iirc. I do think there had to be a monetary angle for Clinton as well, though.

“One of the primary motivating factors here is quite simply the desire to see the U.S. getting poked in the eye.”

in all fairness, it is understandable. We did bomb their civilian infrastructure, among other things. Regardless of the realpolitikal value of this decision, I find it hard to believe for a second FR members would not express similar (actually far more violent) sentiments if the tables were reversed.

"No. I am directly challenging the argument that Georgia is a result of Kosovo, and the only "real commies" on this thread are the ones running in terror from the challenge."

You are too damn easy. And this is just a sampling of articles and statements.

October 4, 2006-- EU High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana today acknowledged that Kosovo's campaign for independence could set a precedent for Georgia's breakaway regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

June 4, 2007 --President Putin has reiterated that the Kosovo case would set a precedent and may even cause negative consequences for Russia. Speaking with journalists from G8 countries at his dacha outside Moscow on June 1, Putin said that “there are no arguments in favor of a position that the Kosovo case differs from the situations in South Ossetia, Abkhazia or Transdnestria.”

December 27, 2007--"In case of the unilateral recognition of the independence of Kosovo, Russia will be entitled to change its approach to the so-called unrecognized republics in the post-soviet regions - South Ossetia, Abkhazia and Pridnestrovie," the chairman of the Council of the Federation (upper chamber of the Russian parliament), Sergei Mironov, said on Tuesday.

December 27, 2007(Georgian website) --As the date for the recognition of Kosovo approaches, the more apparent is the militarization of Abkhazia becomes. Troops have been gathered in the Gali region and all surrounding areas, and long-range artillery is taking up positions in the Kodori Gorge. The rotation of Russian peacekeepers is proceeding intensely as they are being replaced by a Chechen and North-Caucasian contingent. There is one goal: to ensure the security of the Sokhumi regime after the recognition of Kosovo in case if Moscow recognizes the independence of Abkhazia.....In his opinion, Chechens in Abkhazia have been sent only to neutralize any plans being hatched in Georgia to destabilize the upcoming Olympic Games in Sochi.

Sunday, February 18, 2008-- Kosovo declares indpendence

March 10, 2008 --The European Union voiced concern on Monday at signs that Russia and its allies may be preparing to recognise Georgia's breakaway republic of Abkhazia, weeks after Kosovo's Western-backed secession from Serbia...."Georgia is a point of concern for us, because the Russian Federation and the Confederation of Independent States decided to draw certain parallels with Kosovo on this issue," Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel told a news conference after chairing a meeting of EU foreign ministers.

June 4th, 2008 --"The leaders of Georgia's separatist regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia appealed to the United Nations on Monday to put them in line for international recognition after Serbia's breakaway province of Kosovo."

....And it goes on and on.

Russia told us over and over that if we unilaterally recognized Kosovo, Georgia would lose S. Ossetia and Abkhazia, and we ignored them over and over and over. Doesn't make them right, but it does make us stupid for not listening.

But have to admit that the Georgian website last December, talking about Russia bringing in Chechens to defend itself against "a Georgian plan to start something during the Olympics", even took me by surprise!

Hello? I know it's been a number of hours, so you must have forgotten. I am directly challenging the argument that the invasion of Georgia can be justified by the invasion of Kosovo.

I've been arguing all along on multiple threads where you are a participant, that, if the first was wrong then the second is wrong also. Remember (I know it's difficult) that we are discussing the Kosovo war itself, not the U.S. recognizing Kosovo's independence.

This is the box some people find themselves in. After telling us for nearly a decade that the first war was wrong, people are now arguing the second war is right because it is similar to the first. Which can only lead to two conclusions: 1. they were full of crap all along, or 2. the first war is now "acceptable" by their own standard.

And for God's sake, before you run off on another Google search, please try to stay on point.

I don't care to recall exactly what behavior Clinton was trying to distract-from when he bombed Serbia, there was just too much of it.

As for the Baltics, you have warm-water ports with easier access to Europe and at least one oil terminal. Putin would love to see those nations back under his control.

Which leads to an interesting question: if the Sov, er Russians take over the Baltics (with ease, as it is tank country), will people here try to justify the invasion(s) because of the Kosovo war?

"Hello? I know it's been a number of hours, so you must have forgotten. I am directly challenging the argument that the invasion of Georgia can be justified by the invasion of Kosovo."

"Hello", yourself jerk! I have repeatedly said that "the invasion of Georgia cannot be justified by Kosovo, because the invasion of Kosovo was not justified to begin with!". (There, I underlined it & put it in bold so you can't miss it.)

But that was not "the challenge" as you presented it:

"No. I am directly challenging the argument that Georgia is a result of Kosovo...."

You don't get to change that "challenge" or add other crap on later just because you don't like the response. Didn't anyone ever teach you how to debate? Or don't they teach that until sophomore year these days?

", and the only "real commies" on this thread are the ones running in terror from the challenge."

Proving yet again that you have no conception of what the word "commie" means.

Read my comment #10 on this very thread, if you know how to find it.

And answer this question with a yes or no: was Slobodan Milosevic a Communist?

Killing innocent civilians is crazy and that is exactly my point! How many innocent Serbs did Clinton kill!!

Do you really believe the Serbs will ever forget their American allies attacked and killed their people?

It will never happen!!

I seem to remember some muslims(Chechnyan) killed over 2 or 3 hundred Russian Chidren.

Now that is a group I could go after and totally wipe out.

It is the muslims in the balkans trying to seal land,

Check out the percentage of muslims that lives in N Ossetia.

I am glad Russia exist! That is the force that will kill the satanic muslims.

If you can't answer a question that simple, I am not going to waste a holiday weekend educating you.

KMA, punk.
