Congress is investigating oil speculators, bank stocks are being pummeled, and housing prices are dropping precipitously in certain markets. And this is the good news.

I was always taught in my graduate and undergraduate classes that markets are rational, but after looking at the current market valuation of bank stocks, one must seriously consider if our markets are being manipulated.

It would be reasonable to question whether the U.S. is being subjected to an economic attack.

The markets have done nothing but go up and down like a yo-yo for the past year or more. There is nothing normal about it.

His solutions would never solve the problem. They're too easy to obfuscate. His solution after that of course would be more rules against the obfuscation, and when those are gotten around, even More rules.

CPA's are smart generally (my wife is one) but they don't know or understand markets.

He and I have switched places in that he is more
confident about the economy and I am entering
doom and gloom mode.

Hubby and I have been “discussing” this all day. He and I have switched places in that he is more confident about the economy and I am entering doom and gloom mode.

And I am in neither camp at present. I expect mainstream mediocrity, i.e., a lower standard of living, which may be closer to "doom and gloom" than the Panglossian optimists. Others that I have talked to are expecting "some serious stuff to go down" in the next two years, and are planning to relocate.

I remind them that there were Christians in Rome.

straight jacket along with Pelosi, Kennedy and Murpha.

There was a caller on Rush today that could have
been me. She was saying that our current leadership
is simply playing “beat the clock”; hoping the house
of cards doesn’t fall down on their watch.

The steep rise of oil started in earnest at the beginning of the POTUS sweepstakes in 07. It sure seems like somone wants to influence our election. All of the “usual suspects”, foreign and dometic, would all want Obama.
