It is most likely that what passes for a precision guidance system in Irani missles is based on civilian GPS technology. And perhaps the Iranis have forgotten that we put that system up and that the satellites are ours under US military control, and that the system was designed recognizing that it could be used by a hostile power as a basis for missle guidance. You don’t have to be a genius to realize we were smart enough to make sure that our critical military GPS’s would remain accurately functional while civilian devices were disrupted at will. Abadabadoo is in for a big surprise when the missle salvo he launches at Tel Aviv comes down on Qum.

Shhhhhh :)

Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and defeat of Taliban was done unconventionally and amazingly "special" and quick.

OIF in Iraq was executed entirely differently from Afghanistan and while from outside looking very similar to "conventional" army war, it was also amazingly quick and unconventional.

You could bet that whatever is in store for Iran (if or when) will be also entirely different, quick and unconventional.

It's not the Iran military we need to be worried about, it's to be prepared for the actions of Hezbollah in the aftermath. That's where our and our allies' main efforts in intelligence and counterforce should be, which unfortunately have been hampered by our enemies abroad and at home.

I believe India invented Chess—not Iran.

Now there is no question that we need War With Iran. Iran Must be Taken Out before they attack Israel. President Bush or President McCain have the moral courage to do what is necessary and declare war on Iran, Obama doesn’t.

"According to then-Iranian President Abolhassan Bani-Sadr, Ahmadinejad was not only present in the occupied compound, but served as liaison between the hostage-takers and Ali Khamenei, at the time one of the most important Friday preachers in Tehran"

The c.i.a. with its multi billion dollar budget couldn’t see that the soviet union was going bankrupt.
Couldn’t see that Syria had a nuke program and I don’t think they saw pakistans either.
Also there is that little Osamma Bin Laden thing they have had a decade to take care of and haven’t been able to.
I can go on ya know.

Oil prices, which had slipped from record highs, rebounded about $2

I don't see this. I see NYMEX crude up 36 cents. Is somebody using sensationalism at Reuters or is the NYMEX tape delayed and the rest of the $2 will show up later?

You are correct. Persians were responsible for minor modifications (like changing Indian figure “elephant” into what later in Europe became “officer”) and, due to the expansion of Persian Empire, helped popularize the game in the world.

Quite right. Indian-arabic (originated in India) numerals incorporated the concept and symbol for Zero which formally lacked in Greek arithmetic and Roman numerals.
