Does anyone remember the comments on this board back in 2001 about how glad we all were that “the adults are back in charge”...?

According to IHT/NY Times, the bio was from a source called “Encyclopedia of World Biography.” wikipedia actually has a more balanced portrait of the PM.

I agree with posters who think that the staffer was probably a ‘rat mole.

“Silvio Berlusconi? Who cares?”

Apparently, the White house does - enough to apologize publicly at least.

I like Berlusconi; respect him too. I know the President likes him as well. Berlusconi was right there from the get-go WITH the US immediately after 9-11. Sent troops. Then the fascista in Italy seized the reigns of power. And made mincemeat of society and the economy of Italy. Ipso, the re-emergence Silvio Berlusconi.

Should Americans just so only awaken in time in November to learn from a small slice of history out of Italy. Obviously, France Learned. Spain has been learning. The fascists are no friends to anyone; not even each other. They view each other as useful blobs of political flesh to be used for means which satisfy a current or would be tyrant and his/her agenda.

I'll be watching for tidbits out of the G-8 summit, no doubts.

Make no mistake, this was done to upstage and embarrass President Bush.
Heads need to roll to get these rats off the ship, do not accept I didn't know from those responsible.

This aide need to be fired Donald Trump style on TV by the president himself, and the president should personally apologize to the Italian Leader. We need all the friends we can get in Europe.

The problem isn’t that Berlusconi has “influence” over some Italian media, its that conservatives in the US have so little.

Solve that problem, or good luck ever electing conservatives in the US.

It does no good to complain about media “bias”, when the fact is that US media are almost 100% Dem and the fact goes further than that, the core of the DNC is the information media. It isn’t so much that the press is biased toward the DNC, they “are” the DNC.

Until conservatives figure that one out, they will be forever begging the loan of their enemy’s microphone, and then complaining about it.

As an aside, it wouldn’t surprise me a bit to find that your average State Department dweeb absolutely despises Berlusconi. He is another of Bush’s friends who has returned to power in Europe. Chirac, Schroeder, Chretien, Prodi, all gone, replaced by relative conservatives, all relatively or openly pro-US.

Pres. Bush was told over and over to clean house when he first took office. He didn’t listen.

Yes, I agree, it wasn’t an accident or even stupidity. I wonder if we’ll ever hear who he was.
