Hugo Chavez ties Merkel to Hitler ahead of EU-Latin America Summit

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Sunday attacked German Chancellor Angela Merkel, comparing her to Adolf Hitler in response to her criticism of the South American leader's policies.

Merkel belongs to the political right, "the same right that supported Hitler, fascism," Chavez said on his television programme, Alo Presidente.

Chavez's remarks came after Merkel said that the left-wing leader is not the voice of the region.

Merkel, speaking in an interview to Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa ahead of the European Union-Latin American summit, indicated that leftist polices pursued by leaders like Chavez were not the solution.

Pointing to the emergence of "left-wing populism" in some of the nations of Latin America, Merkel said: "Based on our experience in Europe, I don't believe that state-guided economies can provide a better or more sustainable response to such pressing problems."

“Merkel belongs to the political right, “the same right that supported Hitler, fascism,” Chavez said on his television programme, Alo Presidente.”

Hitler’s party was National SOCIALISM, coconuthead. It had MUCH more in common with the government-in-charge dreams of Leftists everywhere. Yes he hated Commies like you, but only because they were a competitor for his brand of totalitarianism.

Hitler rose not because of the German “right” but largely due to Germany’s harsh treatment after World War I.

In all seriousness, she should turn around and fly home. A huge foreign policy statement.

Agree. That’s the famous line so many leftists/communists like Chavez use time and time again. They always claim that Hitler was right-wing when his party was called National SOCIALIST German Workers party.

You can get anymore left that that title.

Poor Hugo, he made the same mistake earlier when he called Bush a "drunken donkey", not realizing that such a phrase in English would sound like he's describing Ted Kennedy. This guy should really get a basic understand of political ideology in other countries before he opens his yapper.

>> Merkel belongs to the political right, "the same right that supported Hitler, fascism <<

Meanwhile, here's what Merkel's party actually supports:

Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU)
Leader: Volker Kauder (2005-)
Membership: 536,668 members
Ideology: Christian democracy, Conservatism
Website http://www.cdu.de

So try as he might, there's nothing in her party remotely associated with following "Hitler" or "fascism". The CDU doesn't even nearly have as much power or influence over Germany as the NAZI's did. Meanwhile, comparing the mindset of Adolf and Hugo, we notice...

The United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV)
Leader: Hugo Chávez
Membership (2007) 5.8 million
Ideology: Socialism , Bolivarianism
Official Website militantepsuv.org.ve

======================================

The National Socialist German Workers Party (NAZI)
Leader: Adolf Hitler
Membership (1945) 8.5 million
Ideology: Socialism , National Fascism
Official Newspaper Völkischer Beobachter

Gee, the "united socialists" of Venezuela and the "national socialists" of Germany sure managed to get EVERYONE in their country to sign up for the idealogical agenda of "socialism". I wonder why that was?

That's funny: Mrs. Merkel was an East German until reunification. Sounds like Hugo doesn't know his excretory orifice from a hole in the ground.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel will probably follow King of Spain’s King Juan Carlos example and tell old bloated-face, ‘Nur halt den Mund!’.

Hey Chavez!

Communism is about owning the means of production.

Fascism is about controlling the means of production.

There’s only a hairsbreadth of difference between them: they are both toxic left-wing theologies.

I agree, with the exception that outside the U.S. of A. their tagging of political beliefs are almost directly opposite of ours... U.S.A. is an exception.... our conservatives don’t view things in the same light of conservatives in any other country. In another countries views... a ‘conservative’ is a person who fights against ANY change in the way ANYTHING is... (politics, law, personal, etc.).

The view I have, as a conservative from the U.S.A. is that as long as it doesn’t mess with my freedom (pretty heavy belief if you think about it), then it’s none of my business.. Their view, on the other hand is what I said above.
For an American (U.S.A. person), we conservatives are unique in the way we view conservatives (conservatism... although the definition might be different).

It gets confusing...
