McCain's "New Europe" Address

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Let's get to what Republican policies have become. Let's listen to excerpts of Senator McCain's speech to the World Affairs Council in Los Angeles today. Here's number one.

MCCAIN: We can't build an enduring peace based on freedom by ourselves, and we do not want to. We have to strengthen our global alliances as the core of a new global compact, a league of democracies that can harness the vast influence of the more than 100 Democratic nations around the world to advance our values and defend our shared interests. At the heart of this new compact must be mutual respect and trust.

RUSH: Okay. We can't build an enduring peace based on freedom by ourselves, and we do not want to. Now, while this may sound appealing to some of you, we are the leader of the free world. We owe it to ourselves to protect and maintain our own freedom and we must do that by ourselves. We cannot subject our freedom to the possibility we may not have allies in one of our quests around the world. Where is American exceptionalism here? That's one of the things that conservatism has always had as a bedrock, American exceptionalism, American greatness, because of our people, because of our founding, because of our principles and because of the evidence that exists to support the notion that this is a great population of people. Here's the next excerpt.

MCCAIN: Our great power does not mean we can do whatever we want, whenever we want, nor should we assume we have all the wisdom and knowledge necessary to succeed. We need to listen, we need to listen to the views and respect the collective will of our Democratic allies. When we believe international action is necessary, whether military, economic, or diplomatic, we will try to persuade our friends that we are right. But we in return must be willing to be persuaded by them.

RUSH: You gotta keep in mind the context of the speech. This is a foreign policy speech. This sounds like the global test, this sounds like the haughty -- by the way, let me clarify something. People think I'm calling Kerry a hotty, h-o-t-t-y, it's haughty, h-a-u-g-h-t-y, the haughty John Kerry. This sounds like the sounds like the global test. We need to listen to the views and respect the collective will of our Democrat allies. If they think we're wrong, we've gotta be open to being persuaded that we're wrong. (interruption) That's exactly right, Mr. Snerdley. If they think we're wrong, we have to own up to being wrong, the possibility of being wrong. Let me tell you something. Liberals are going to love this speech. This is the problem. This is their stated approach. This is no different than what John Kerry was talking about doing, although his remarks were in the context of military involvement, but McCain included that here. We have three more to go. Here's another one.

MCCAIN: America must be a model citizen if we want others to look to us as a model. How we behave at home affects how we are perceived abroad. We must fight the terrorists and at the same time defend the rights that are at the foundation of our society. We can't torture or treat inhumanely suspected terrorists we have captured. I believe we should close Guantanamo and work with our allies to forge a new international understanding on the disposition of dangerous detainees under our control.

RUSH: We can't trust these people internationally on this! Close down Club Gitmo. We have a thriving merchandise business at Club Gitmo. Shut it down? By the way, how do we know that anybody's been tortured? How we really know? Even if we don't torture people, there are going to be leftists in this country accusing us of it based on pictures at Abu Ghraib, and then the whole notion that we torture as a routine gets accepted. And if somebody's not going to stand up and say no, we don't torture, instead of standing up and accepting the premise that the left puts forward that we torture, and McCain has just accepted that premise, says, well, we gotta stop torturing, gotta close Club Gitmo, and we gotta work with our allies to forge a new international understanding. What happened to Americanism here? It's like we're no different than anybody else on the planet. Our nation is no different than any other nation. This is how the left -- everything, everybody -- everybody thinks, "Well, Mr. Limbaugh, you're exactly right, and McCain has it right, and that's why you can't stand it, because you don't like anybody being right but you. But we are no different, we're no better, and we're a lot worse than some people, Mr. Limbaugh, and it's time that you realize it." This is the kind of guy that McCain is going to appeal to. Second-to-last one, oh boy.

MCCAIN: We need to about good stewards of our planet and join with other nations to help preserve our common home. The risks of global warming, the risks of global warming have no borders. We in the other nations of the world must get serious about substantially reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the coming years, or we will hand off a much diminished world to our grandchildren. We need a successor to the Kyoto treaty, a cap-in-trade system that delivers the necessary environmental impact in an economically responsible manner. We Americans must lead by example and encourage the participation of the rest of the world.

RUSH: Good grief, not even Bill Clinton would sign on to Kyoto and now Senator McCain wants to. Do you notice a theme here? The theme here is that there's nothing special about America, and that we're not going to be able to do anything without involving other nations and making them like us and showing them that we intend them no harm and that we want to be good stewards of the planet just as they want to be good stewards. The problem is that so many other nations, even some of our allies have totally given themselves over to kookery on this whole global warming, Kyoto mess. We and other nations of the world must get serious about substantially reducing greenhouse gases. We need a successor to the Kyoto treaty. We must lead by example. There's no leadership here. The leadership here is, "I'm going to lead this country into getting along with everybody. I'm going to make sure that they like us." But in every one of these bites -- I know it's the World Affairs Council, I know it's a foreign policy speech. I don't know, this audience may be a bunch of libs. We edited out the applause just for the time but there's a lot of applause to the things he's saying here, I want to be honest with you here. A lot of the applause we edited out for the sake of brevity, but every bite that we've played, (doing McCain impression) "We must join other nations to get anything worthwhile done. We can't do it ourselves, we shouldn't have to, we shouldn't want to do it alone, we shouldn't, we should, we can't." Let's see. There is one more -- oh, yeah, the big finish.

MCCAIN: I hold my position because I hate war, and I know very well and very personally how grievous its wages are. But I know, too, that we must sometimes pay those wages to avoid paying even higher ones later on. I run for president because I want to keep the country I love and have served all my life safe and to rise to the challenges of our times as generations before us rose to theirs.

RUSH: So finish off with the big war record, that's a little Kerryesque as well. But, you think of it what you will, I think of it what I will. You know, one thing we could do here, folks, just change the name. We're no longer the United States of America, we'll call ourselves New Europe.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I just took a sneak peek at subscriber e-mail sent to RushLimbaugh.com that members use. Wow, are you people mad. People are fit to be tied. Do you think McCain would have secured the Republican nomination with that speech during the Republican primaries? Where was that speech during the primary? Where was this, we're going to give everything away to Europe, we're going to let them have a say-so, whatever we do, where was it? The last time I heard that was John Kerry's global test. There were not too many parts of this speech that your average Democrat would not give. But I don't remember hearing anything like this during the primaries when McCain needed to appear as a foot soldier in the Reagan revolution and tax cuts, making them permanent and all this sort of stuff.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: By the way, after we change our name from the United States of America to New Europe, let's apply for membership in the European Union and let's get rid of the dollar and start using the euro, (doing McCain impression) "to show that we understand 'em. Good idea, Limbaugh, now you're getting it, you're getting it!"

Chuck, Logansport, Indiana, welcome to the EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER: Hello.

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: Thanks for taking my call.

RUSH: You bet, sir.

CALLER: First, I want to say I love Operation Chaos. I'm so tired of the fact that the independents and Democrats came over and gave us McCain and after listening to those clips --

RUSH: But we're screwed, man, do you realize how screwed we are?

CALLER: I do, I do.

RUSH: We might be.

CALLER: I can't vote for the guy. I'm just thinking Supreme Court justices, and I'm just going to do it. But I'm thinking Supreme Court justices, and that's it, but this guy, I just can't --

RUSH: Wait a minute, now. You know, Europe might have some veto power. We're not qualified to lead.

CALLER: Well, anyway, the point of the call was that --

RUSH: We're so shafted, folks, I can't begin to -- what are you saying? What are you saying, Kenny? Sorry.

CALLER: Yeah. I'm on vacation in Logansport, Indiana.

RUSH: Oh, it's Chuck.

CALLER: Yeah, Chuck. And Clinton came by on one of his stump speeches.

RUSH: Oh, no.

CALLER: I infiltrated the speech. It was just the regular boilerplate, most of it, big government solutions and soak the rich and big business is the enemy, and I'm just shaking my head, and everybody in the crowd is eating it up and going crazy. But he said some really wacky stuff, too, along the way. And I just want to know, is it okay to call Hillary a girl, or not?

RUSH: Did he call her a girl?

CALLER: He did. He made a point of calling her a girl. He said, she's the only girl in this race that's got the support of two of the former chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and 34 generals. But he paused on the world girl.

RUSH: Only girl in the race, period.

CALLER: Yeah. Yeah. Well, but I just thought, well, if it's okay to call her a girl, then that's okay, then.

RUSH: Well, you're going to have to ask women. Women look the other way with Clinton. Clinton can do anything he wants. He can ruin women's lives; he can destroy their lives; he can abuse them; he can have affairs with them. The feminazis look the other way and join the Clintons in bashing the women as trailer park trash.

CALLER: Sure.

RUSH: So if Bill Clinton wants to call Hillary a girl -- nothing that happens with a Clinton is a coincidence, by the way. I wouldn't assume that was just a slip of the tongue.

CALLER: Oh, no, no, he dwelt on the word girl. He kind of had a little wink in his eye --

RUSH: All right, then --

CALLER: It was purposeful.

RUSH: I don't know. I don't know what the status of the Indiana primary is right now, what the polling data is, but that might have been an appeal to women. Look, the Clintons poll everything.

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: (doing Clinton impression) "Does the word 'girl' offend you when talking about my wife? What should I wear when I go on vacation?" They poll all that stuff.

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: What else did you notice? There had been more than just that.

CALLER: Sure. Talking about education, and he said some wacky stuff that's similar to what you have in that clip of Ted Kennedy. And he went off on education, saying, "There are machines that can take a picture of every one of our brains in this room." And his point was that we know by this that a hundred percent of the kids who don't have disability of some kind can achieve what they need to do to be successful in the economy of tomorrow.

RUSH: Okay, so why aren't they, in his estimable view?

CALLER: Well, he didn't get into that.

RUSH: Well, that's because his party is responsible for the lack of achievement because they don't promote achievement. They promote ignorance. They promote -- well, they don't promote stupidity. They promote ignorance. They promote dependence. They promote the idea that people can't succeed because the country's unfair. They've got their buds in the teachers unions that -- it's vicious -- we are so shafted.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Rapids City, South Dakota. Tom, welcome to the EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER: Hi. Hello, Rush.

RUSH: Hi.

CALLER: God bless you. God bless Operation Chaos.

RUSH: Thank you, sir.

CALLER: I wish we could have started it about a year ago.

RUSH: Yeah. A lot of wishes, but it happened when it happens and that's what we have to deal with.

CALLER: Yes it did. After listening to that McCain speech, it made me want to go out and dig up Abraham Lincoln. Because even in death that man's got more common sense than anybody running for president right now.

RUSH: It is depressing, isn't it?

CALLER: Well, they're giving away my children's future, Rush, and they're not even president yet.

RUSH: What do you mean by that? I know about the Democrats. How is McCain doing that?

CALLER: Well, in that speech making all these promises. Obama wants to give $350 billion aid to Africa. Hillary, God knows what she wants to do.

RUSH: Hillary wants to get even with a whooooole lot of people and maybe a whole country.

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: McCain wants to get even with the Republican Party for giving him the shaft in 2000. Obama is just a full-fledged, angry guy who's been harboring Jeremiah Wright-type rage. We have three angry people that are running for president for whatever personal reasons here related to their anger. (McCain) "I'll show them," and Hillary and Obama saying basically the same thing. This is to get even with the country or system or people, didn't recognize their brilliance way down the line. In Obama's case it's not quite that because he's not been around long enough to want to get -- Well, yeah, he's gonna settle the score with the whole country based on what he believes in. Where's the American exceptionalism? Where is the soaring (sigh), highbrow, upbeat, confident speech and view of the United States of America? Why all of these three candidates that apparently look at this country and see nothing but problems and deficiencies and guilt over it? I understand how you feel. A lot of people feel the same way you do.

CALLER: Well, we got some of the highest property taxes in the nation right here, Rush. We've got the --

RUSH: In Rapids City, South Dakota?

CALLER: In Rapids City, South Dakota, it's $17.40 per thousand. So you get a hundred-thousand-dollar house, that's what you get to pay, and (laughs) some of the lowest wages in the country. So top one thing with another, we've \got gas almost $3.50 a gallon here.

RUSH: Yeah. Well, they're paying five dollars and 25 or 30 cents out in California.

CALLER: Well, they're making $25 an hour, too. (laughter)

RUSH: Well, it's the wrong way to look at this.

CALLER: (chuckles)

RUSH: I understand the relative view, but, see, you're falling into the liberal trap of not feeling that. It's not exactly a liberal trap, but, "Well, they can afford it, so who cares how high their taxes are?" You know, if you have that attitude, eventually you're going to get soaked by the same people. You've gotta be very vigilant.

“Obviously, he doesn’t see that McCain is anticipating a world war with Islam....one that the U.S. cannot win alone.”

And one that the US absolutely cannot win at all with a wide open southern border and a great big welcome mat for anybody to come regardless of their nationality and intentions. If McCain’s anticipating a fight to the death with our enemies, he’s got a funny way of showing it.

Do you have inside knowledge of what is going on in McBoobs’ alleged mind? If not then how the heck would you know “that McCain is anticipating a world war with Islam....one that the U.S. cannot win alone?”

. . but, now Democrat candidates are going to be selected by Republicans from now on. They think they can do as they please and the “Pubbies” will roll over and be gentlemen. If they don’t like the outcome of what they get this go around for a Presidential candidate, maybe they’ll quit throwing out the gauntlet.

Revelation includes past, present, and future. Ezekiel certainly sheds light on the nations coming against and invading Israel. Revelation speaks of the NWO in chapter 13 (rule of the antichrist). Time has been moving toward the NWO since Christ was resurrected and returned to heaven. Jesus Christ Himself will return to overthrow the antichrist and all who followed him in the NWO.

I think he is actually trying to offend fiscal and social conservatives. He is not attempting to placate us with the usual rhetorical pablum. He is basically saying....kiss his a$$. I am tring to figure out any really good reason to vote for him, but so far I see little difference between the three annointed liberals running for President. I think that is what he wants.

“In case Rush hasn’t noticed, radical Islam is primed to take over 5 continents.”

But leave that border open where the terrorists are waltzing in at will? Allow visas, no INCREASE them according to McCain/Bush, from all the terrorists countries? PLEASE!

McCain sucks.

“Why does he do this! “

He’s pulling liberal votes while Hillary and Obama are fighting it out. If McCain wins, the democrats and liberals will elect him, not conservatives.

Nothing left in my stomach, I have gone to weeping for a once great nation. Besides the torture, what did they give him to read? McCain is as big a danger to the country as Obama. I like what one freeper said this morning “this is like the special olympics, even if McCain wins, we get someone who is retarded”..

The conservative movement may have had the proverbial “last nail” placed in her coffin. Conservative philosophy promotes righteous principles, absolutes, good standards, independence, and freedom. The last two generations have been brainwashed by socialism, marxism, liberalism, and anti-God philosophies. The result, we are now a nation entrapped by the lies of an unseen evil force of darkness. Dark days are ahead for this nation - take it to the bank.

This speech certainly makes the idea that McCain was seriously considering VP under Kerry sound entirely plausible. If you showed me the text without credit it sure as hell wouldn’t occur to me that a Republican gave it, let alone alone a conservative.

We have nobody to blame but ourselves...well not you guys here but our base. They did no homework on the candidates and when IOWA produced Huckabee as the winner and my guys Tancredo and Hunter never got anything going in the polls I knew it was over. We truly deserve the representation we get. We will have to be hit again and likely again (they will always be big blue liberal cities.. go figure) then we as a people will force our politicians to do what must be done to survive.
