Are you an authentic white person? For the answer to that, we need to go to the current authentic black community. They are the ones who define who is and who is not an authentic member of their race. Be they black or white. (Since Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, etc., have not yet amassed political clout, they're excluded from being categorised by their skin color.)
The reigning Black elite have decided that authentic 'typical white people' are inherently racist. As Obama so blithely stated, this prejudice is inbred and rears its ugly head every time a white encounters a black. For those whites who believe reparations to date, in the form of trillions of dollars, affirmative action, special dispensations and a color-coded justice system, have adequately addressed the shame of their ancestors' sin of slavery, well, it hasn't. We are informed that racial prejudice is still rampant in American society. If you don't see it, its because it has taken the more insidious form of 'institutional racism.'

I'm sure the blacks like Bill Cosby know what these militants espouse and have been brave to buck them and try to wake the black community up - knowing these hate-filled people are every bit as dangerous for the black community as for the white...it is also the blacks who love this country, who are proud to salute the flag, that must have the first 'dialog' with these militants...because they can open their mouths without being shouted down a racist - and, as this article mentions, loose job, etc...
These militants don't really want dialog anyway. they want Whitey to sit down, shut, listen up and PAY.

Obamamama's little "Typical White People" slip of the tongue spilled the beans as to what is in his heart. This man and his associates are dangerous. Now there's little question as why he worked on boards with - and visited in the home of = [people like Ayers of the Weathermen, etc.
These two books should be required curriculum for all students. They strip away the false veneer of black victim-hood and white guilt.
When the radical factions are neutralized and the black achievers are no longer labeled “Uncle Tom” - and whites no longer swallow guilt of being a “typical white person” = we can race ahead as a society...
In the meantime, these two books should be required reading in the schools - how could anyone object?
These books would give young blacks REAL hope - and young whites would better understand the difference between the two black factions, and understand that THEY and other "Typical White People" are NOT QUILTY for ancient wrongs.
What I thought was interesting was how they related to the local black population - they were terrified. Scared sh**less. Kinda felt sorry for them, and hung out together when we could.
The only other student interaction I thought was odder was the Palestinian who told me at a faculty mixer that he would kill every Jew in the room if he could. That'll make you stare at the bottom of your beer mug.
And I still don't like Reverend Bullfrog or anything he and his racist followers stands for.

Then again, I remember reading about a white immigrant from South Africa who got in trouble for checking African-American on his school application forms. He pointed out that his family had lived in Africa for hundreds of years. The liberal administrators were not happy.

On a related note, When I filled out my census form for the 2000 census I wrote down how many people lived at my house and that was it.
A census worker kept calling leaving messages saying I needed to fill in the rest of the info. I ignored the messages finally they came calling. The lady asked if she could come in so she could get my vitally important info I told her no but we could talk on the porch.
She asked all kinds of questions how many bathrooms bedrooms etc. income all kinds of crap I Answered all of them "I don't know."
Finally she got to racial make-up of the people living in my house. She asked what race I and my wife and daughter were so I looked her directly in the eye and told her "I am Jewish-Irish-Australian Aborigine, my wife is Swedish and my Daughter is Inuit. She looked at me and said "so your daughter is adopted?" I answered "Nope, she is our natural born child."
She wasn't a happy camper when she stormed off the porch.
About 12 years ago, my hubby had a co-worker from South Africa who did the same thing. I wish I could have been there when this blonde Afrikaner walked in. LMAO! They were a little more forgiving of the faux pas. LOL!
Hey, I know a couple from Chile who are as white as white can be. They went to get their Social Security cards for their temporary employment as visiting scientists at the University of Chicago. At the SS office, they filled out the application and by “race” checked “white.” The SS person crossed it out and wrote Hispanic.
I have a similar example. A guy in our office with the last name of Liftshietz who is Jewish to the hilt, happens to have been born and raised in South America, (Spanish is his first language) but the HR people count him as Hispanic. He laughs about it.

BTW, since they started asking the idiotic ethnic questions I have always checked Native American. Hell, I was born here, so I figure I'm a native.

What those who want Mr. Obama to write history by becoming "America's first African-American president" ignore is that his father was ethnically Arabic, with only 1 relative - a maternal grandparent, ethnically African Negro.
That means that Mr. Obama is 50% Caucasian from his mother's side, and 43.75% Arabic, and 6.25% African Negro from his father's side
I know someone who got a minority scholarship to a state university because her last name ended in -ez though she couldn’t speak a word of Spanish and you wouldn’t have been able to pick her out of a line-up as the sole Latina. In the lab I worked as a post-doc there was a grad student who was there on a minority scholarship. His last named ended with an -o. I wasn’t sure, though, whether it (the minority scholarship)was because someone in his ancestry was Hispanic/Latin or because he was gay. In that same lab, the PI (principal investigator) had an African post-doc coming in from England classed as a minority so he could get minority funding (meaning that he would have to spend less for the guy out of his own funds). It was all a total freaking scam.
Lots of us Americans are mutts - because America is an idea - not a race or ethnicity... so we can all qualify if we decide to embrace the idea.
My ancestors include Cherokee from both sides (different distances) and then Finnish (least part but the patronym) Scotch Irish English French, and also someplace called “the old country” but no one knows what the heck that means... Germany or Austria or someplace like that, we suspect...

I must not be a typical white person since my great grandfather arrived at Ellis Island in 1910 on a boat named the Florida. He came here from Sicily all by himself at the age of 18 and made a good life for himself. He worked hard and raised my grandfather to be an American who still new how to make wine and cook good food.
That makes two of us...or at least, that is what most my Lib (former) co-workers always accused me of being.

I have a friend who’s son-in-law is the same. He’s a white South African immigrant who is now very proud American citizen.

As for Tiger, he really doesn’t allude to a racial identity at all. He doesn't promote himself as a “black golfer”, (though others may), just as himself, a guy who happens to have ancestors of several races. That's something I have always really respected about him, and a big part of his popular success, IMO.
And where, may I ask, was he from?
My son is a senior at UCLA and says the same thing - the black students from Africa are hard working, hard studying, polite, and a pleasure to be around. The American blacks mystify them, and they don’t hang around together. The Africans hang with their white/asian/indian dorm mates.
My girlfriend’s grandparents came here in the early 1900’s from Sciaca, Sicily, and settled in Bay Ridge, New York.
Oh, the recipes and food that family makes!! And the funny superstitions!
