They can skip the hybrid part. I wouldn’t buy one anyway.

This has already been done, and they get fantastic mileage.
The diesel Lupo got 74 mpg, as I recall.

This car has already been discontinued, and was never imported to the U.S.
Neverthe less, I still do want a small hatchback with a small diesel engine, and no frills.
The thing about the engine stopping at idle probably won't be a feature of any U.S. car.
