They don’t want to mess with Mississippi’s population, Mississippians have for some years running been the highest contributors to private charity in the nation. Considering our rank in income, that’s quite a feat.

Mississippi is GREAT! The food is just too good for words, and if I lived there I would be over 300 lbs. Too much BBQ and sweet tea!

Ive been to Mississippi. If they ban fats they will exile a significant portion of their population who are over 50% fat by volume.

I've been to California. If they ban education, they will exile a significant portion of their population who are over 50% brainless by volume!

Please don't throw stones from your glass California house.

Remember, you have Diane Frankenstein!

I live on the coast, so it’s more seafood than barbecue. That’s good, it’s less fattening, unless you deep-fry everything. (I’m a heretic, I just don’t like deep-fried food). I also don’t like sweet tea-—infamy!-—because my grandmother made it so sweet it was like syrup and made me hate it to this day.

Sorry, I didn’t mean for that to sound so mean. I was using humor...as I’m sure you were.

:~)

I couldnt’ agree more. I moved recently near L.A., the epicenter of ignorant superficiality.

I loved Mississippi, and the food there is so good if I lived there any longer I would be 300 lbs and HAPPY about it.

One of my best friends in the USAF was a Abraham Lincoln looking tall skinny guy from Mississippi named Homer. Lots of beautiful people in Mississippi, but lots of really BIG people also, and some of the BIG ones are REALLY BIG. Nothing against Big people though, two of my best friends are HUGE, good people, fun, funny, and she is one of the best cooks ever.

Why is it everything good in life is illegal, immoral or fattening?

Absolutely! And unlike California, people in Mississippi are less likely to make people who are big feel bad about themselves.

And the preferred spelling of our Senator’s name is ‘FINE-SWINE’! ;)

Ah, here is the problem:

“W. T. Mayhall, Jr.
District 40 - DeSoto County - Republican”

DeSoto County is too close to Memphis. It’s becoming Memphis Jr. and not like Mississippi at all.

Plus he was born and educated in Memphis. That’s affected his thinking to be more easily swayed by the PC crowd.

He may be a fine person, but this country needs less “government action” not more.

Thanks. But if you're a Southerner, you must know that us folks down here tell lies and tall tales to gullible Yankees all the time, just to shock 'em. More fun than a barrel of monkeys!

(In other words, regardless of what post #75 says, I imagine these legislators are having a big yuck over all the folks who have fallen for their silly prank!)

Yeah, no surprise - it’s Mississippi - quite a few liberals (including those who introduced this bill). Those types will nanny state us to death.

The actual bill is here.

I hope the Maryland legislature doesn't get wind of this bill. The People's Democratic Republic of Maryland would certainly PASS such an enlightened measure!

With many state budgets facing billion dollars in deficits...the first step won’t be this, there is no money in it. The first step will be fast food taxes to raise revenue to pay for the diabetic testing supplies and bariatric surgery...mark my words.
