The premise of your question is entertaining (especially in view of all of the comments)! It is, however, false! McCain’s success is entirely dependent upon primary votes! If voters, in this forum, vote for either Thompson or Hunter, in the primaries, the issue of McCain’s succession is moot!

1) In my state (Connecticut) my vote will have to make a difference (this is possible in Lieberman country).

2) A favorable third party candidate is not available (nothing seems to be surfacing at this point).
