CASPER, Wyo. — Mitt Romney grabbed the early lead in Wyoming’s Republican caucuses Saturday as the state had its brief moment in the political spotlight sandwiched between attention-getting contests in Iowa and New Hampshire.

The former Massachusetts governor gained the first four delegates while California Rep. Duncan Hunter won a fifth.

Romney easily led the overall vote with more than 50 percent. Hunter was second with 21 percent and Fred Thompson, who hadn’t won any delegates, was third with 17 percent. Results were expected throughout the day.

Romney taking credit for Duncan Hunter's fence, in Romney's flier. The information of Hunter's fence should have been in ..... Duncan Hunter's flier, etc. Romney should apologize.

I think it's a good thing when a politician supports the fence.

All candidates who don't support the fence should apologize.

I read earlier around here that the Mormon population is 10 to 15%....didn’t Romney get a tremendously high percentage of the vote? No it wasn’t because of Mormons.

What is the percentage of evangelicals in Iowa? Probably about the same percentage and they are credited with carrying Huckabee to his victory in a much more contested event. Ten to 15% of the population, if highly organized, is more than sufficient to carry a candidate in a caucus.

I am a great judge of character after 20+ years in college teaching. They can’t often fool me with fake stories about their late work versus actual reasons I should give them grace. I can tell a charlatan, like Romney or Huckabee, when I see one on tv.

I knew it! Of course, you are smarter, better informed and more intuitive than all the people who now him and worked with him. Thanks for confirming!

"Apparently The presidency is gained by being “Mr Money Bags”. That doesn’t sit well with many in America. "

I'm beginning to believe that myself. I see a direct correlation between the amount of campaign money available and the way the MSM favors the money candidate.

The average Joe gets his info from the MSM so all the voters awarness of a candidate is recieved through the MSM bias filter which seems to be coin operated

Fox’s post-Iowa coverage was infuriating.

I dont understand Fox these days. What happened to 'We Report, You Decide' and 'Fair and Balanced'? Now it's 'Let Us Tell You How to Think'.

Jack Mormon is a name for their apostates. For whatever reason, they usually go a bit wild.

Do their delegates count or not?

They can count to twenty if they take their shoes and socks off.

Which is why they live in Wyoming. Nevada banned them at the blackjack tables.

Go Thompson! Go Hunter! And Go Romney!

But will Thompson be mentioned as #2 the way Romney was in Iowa? I can already guess that Hunter at #3 will receive the same attention by the DBM that #3 in Iowa received.

Romney got the MAJORITY of the vote in Wyoming.

Very conservative state.
Blowout win.

Oh, and the RINOS - Huckster, Rudy, McCain ... were low single digits.

“He’s anti-2nd amendment “

No he’s not. Romney supports the individual RKBA.

Way higher ... a majority of the GOP caucus goers in Iowa.

None of them got a single delegate.

Wyoming is extremely conservative on economic issues (among the most conservative of all states), but only moderately conservative on social issues. That is not a good combination for Huckabee.

The current delegate standings (minus superdelegates):

Romney 26 (20)
Huckabee 20 (17)
Thompson 6 (6)
McCain 3 (3)
Paul 2 (2)
Hunter 1 (1)
Giuliani 1 (0)
Everyone else 0 (0)

If what you say is true,,,then the Wyoming result is even WORSE for Guiliani than Huckabee!!!

Thanks for the list.

BTW, the whole ‘superdelagate’ thing is a way for the ruling party to rig the nomination process.

I despise the tyranny of the two-party system. I would welcome a meaningful election process instead of the managed outcome we now have.
