The fact is that no matter how tough you make criminal laws most crooks don’t deserve to be locked up for life, therefore they are going to get out eventually. Anything that keeps them out, such as skills training and “attitude adjustment”, is a good thing. The sense of teamwork developed on the fire line alone is enough reason to do this.

Fortunately the only time that they are used is only after all the union workers are already deployed I think. Kind of hard to b*tch about non-union work when houses are going up all around you from lack of firefighters.

True. The only way it would happen here is if they made the call during a crisis- any other time the unions would raise hell and our government would cave to them.
