Thought I was listening to Graham Hancock at first. Graham Phillips is in a good pocket of investigation of off-beat, nearly unprovable hypotheses. He makes the short list.
Ugghhh. You're killing me. FR is one of the few sites that aren't blocked at work so I can't look up the quote. Pleeease tell me what movie that's from.
Yes. I forget, but it is a hormone or neurotransmitter. Eating or breathing it wouldn't do anything but it is worth thinking about these things because obviously our ancestors were doing something back then and we don't have much of a clue what.
"There may be veiled references to comets in the biblical narrative, leading to the possibility that the Santorini eruption itself may have been triggered by a bolide (comet or asteroid) impact. David Levy, co-discoverer of the comet that bears his and Jean Shoemaker's names, has argued that the description of the angel of the Lord in the sky over Jerusalem with a drawn sword (1 Chronicles 21) could be a reference to a comet."
"The Angel of the Lord was, of course, also present at the Exodus, as it was traveling in front of Israel's army. Further, there are indications that as the Israelites left Egypt, the night was as bright as midday.

“Pons described it as a small, ill-defined nebulosity...”
Sorta like Democrats?

I posted over on the thread
The Cold Snap That Civilised The World
some evidence for some chevron dunes associated with a comet strike off madagascar about 5000 years ago.
That's me---always trying to lead folks astray.
Would've got my attention, that's for sure.
That was my question. It seems so counter-intuitive that I would like to see the evidence. Frankly, my own opinion is that killing technology just got better, and mankind enthusiatically adopted the new methods.
"DAHdee would have got us Uzis !"
(Full disclosure: I've actually spoken to Miss Maroney) ;-D
“Night of the Comet”, of course. ;-) ‘80s cult classic.
Beer
Night of the Comet, of course. ;-) 80s cult classic.
Interesting how there is never a bunch of stinking bodies left around in a movie like this.
And, of course, the HST watched the fragmented SL-9 disrupting Jupiter's atmosphere as it fell into the planet.
I think the Discovery Channel just had a Tunguska piece, and one of the 160+ theories was that it was a "dead" comet that exploded over Siberia.
So, maybe 12P/Pons-Brooks "died", and for all practical purposes, became a 'roid with a large orbit?
I read the Skiffy usenet group, and they were really going after the latest incarnation of "Flash Gordon" on the production details.
(Then they started in on the writing, acting, etc.)
Noooooooo (deep breath) ooooooooooo!
Now I’m skert. I need an anti-zombie kitty defense system!

Betcha that’d get zombie kitty real good!
I have plenty ammo for invasions by commie bastages, heathen hoards, and the ol’ Genghis Khan, just in case the some secret lab is working at reborning that particular Mongol.
If I don’t want to dip into stock reserved for those particulars, I need to expand capacity a little bit.
