Jimmy Carter Parades the World’s 10 Worst Dictators

Parade Magazine released its Annual List of the World’s 10 Worst Dictators today.

A quick glance at this list brings up images of Jimmy Carter traversing the globe, leaving his little footprints all over millions of oppressed, starving and murdered innocents. Many of these dictators listed in Parade Magazine today owe Jimmy a big thanks and a little kiss, for his efforts in their success. For without Jimmy’s help, only God knows if these brutal men would be residing in the same place of comfort as they are today.

As you read this remember that Nobel Peace Prize Winner Jimmy Carter has never shown remorse, taken responsibility or even acknowledged that his shortsighted simple-minded policies led to these horrors.

#1 Omar al-Bashar of Sudan, has used Jimmy Carter to help him with several agreements between Sudan and its neighbors including Egypt and Uganda. But, al-Bashar is no gentleman, and Darfur is his second genocide:

Al-Bashir is a graduate of the ‘Idi Amin School of Dictators’. Darfur would be Sudanese President Lt. General Omar Hassan al Bashir’s second genocidal campaign against his countrymen. He waged the first against the Christian and animist people of south and central Sudan, with most of the deaths occurring over a decade beginning in the early ‘90s and 2002. As Elie Wiesel wrote about the south, it was “genocide in slow motion.” Over two million eventually perished and five million more were displaced before peace protocols — brokered largely through heroic efforts of the Bush administration — were signed last month.

At #2, Kim Jung Il of North Korea can thank Jimmy Carter for brokering the nuclear arms agreement in 1994 that helped this madman acquire nuclear weapons:

Just days after it was announced that Carter had won the Peace Prize, North Korea announced that it had atomic weapons and some “worse stuff.”

Carter, the so-called “peacemaker,” had been instrumental in the early ‘90s in “mediating” U.S.-Korean relations, an effort that led to Clinton policies that actually helped North Korea build and acquire these weapons.

#3 Than Shwe, Burma (Myanmar). Jimmy Carter called jailed fellow Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi a “heroic woman” in a 2003 speech. Aung San Suu Kyi is the only Nobel Peace Laureate yet to claim her prize in Norway.

Jimmy Carter invited Dictator #4 Robert Mugabe to the White House in 1980 (from Bleeding Hearts, Bloody Hands):

Rhodesia held free elections in which black moderate Bishop Abel Muzorewa was elected to the post of Prime Minister. However, the world press (and Jimmy Carter) declared the elections null and void because the two terrorist groups, ZAPU (Zimbabwe African People’s Union) and ZANU (Zimbabwe African Nationalist Union), were not invited to participate. A continuation of sanctions eventually forced another election, overseen by international collectivists.

To nobody’s surprise, the more powerful of the two terrorist leaders, Robert Mugabe, edged out rival Joshua Nkomo for the top slot, in balloting which was described as “one gun, one vote.”

This was heralded by the world press as the gate to a new era, as Cecil Rhodes’ name was dropped. During the 1980s, the saying was that “One used to go to Rhodesia to see the ruins of Zimbabwe. Now it’s the other way around.” American President Jimmy Carter hosted Mugabe at the White House in 1980, proclaiming that he had watched happily as Mugabe emerged victorious, adding that he was going to use similar tactics in his own reelection campaign!

#5 Islam Karimov, Uzbekistan. Jimmy Carter compares the US to Uzbekistan:

Carter said many countries (including Uzbekistan), including the United States, are using the campaign against terrorism as an excuse to restrict freedoms and silence human rights activists.

Dictator #6 Hu Jintao, of China, the most murderous regime in the history of mankind owes a special thanks to Jimmy Carter:

On December 15, 1978, Carter terminated our relations with Taiwan and recognized Communist China, the most murderous regime in the history of the planet. He did this after Congress had adjourned for Christmas. The Senate, earlier that year, had voted 94-0 on a resolution that it should be consulted before any change in the treaty with Taiwan. Red China would proceed to benefit from a massive transfer of US credit and technology, a process that would reach an orgasmic climax during the Clinton Administration. Carter would remain silent in the face of the genocide performed by the Cambodian Marxist Pol Pot. So much for Carter as the champion of “human rights.”

And, this from Jimmy Carter himself:

I had a very close friendship with China, particularly then, because I had normalized diplomatic relations with China, and they shared a lot of their information [and] advice with me.

#7 King Abdullah, Saudi Arabia After the Gulf War, Saudi Arabia was mad at Arafat, because the PLO chief had sided with Saddam Hussein. So Arafat asked Carter to fly to Riyadh to smooth things over with the princes and restore Saudi funding to him — which Carter did.

#8 Saparmurat Niyazov, Turkmenistan Hmm. No Jimmy link?

Only because of Jimmy Carter’s leadership did Dictator #9 Seyed Ali Khamane’i, from Iran make the list:

Jimmy Carter, upon taking office in 1977, declared that advancing “human rights” was among his highest priorities. Because America’s ally the Shah of Iran was torturing approximately 3,000 prisoners (many of them agents for Iran’s bordering neighbor the Soviet Union), Mr. Carter ostentatiously withdrew U.S. support from the Shah.

Mr. Carter ordered the Central Intelligence Agency to stop paying $4 million per year in bribes to the religious Mullahs to tone down their rhetoric. Many of these Muslim leaders disliked the Shah not because he was dictatorial but because the Shah was secular, pro-Western, and expanding the rights and equality of women.

Because Mr. Carter withdrew U.S. support and unleashed Mullah fury, the Shah was toppled. Did this liberate the 3,000 political prisoners? No. The new theocratic dictatorship of the Ayatollah Khomeini put many of these “godless Communists” up against walls alongside more than 20,000 pro-Western Iranians and liquidated them all by firing squads. Women were sent back into servitude. Citizens were arrested merely for owning satellite dishes that could tune to Western programs. And, of course, American diplomats were taken hostage.

#10 is Teodoro Obiang Nguema, from Equatorial Guinea, a country of 500,000 people that Jimmy has left untouched.

This year Fidel Castro landed at #15. Jimmy made a trip to the island paradise in 2002 to rub elbows with Fidel.

Jimmy Carter indicated Monday that he believed communist dictator Fidel Castro, not his own country, about Havana’s bioterror threat.
During a visit Carter and Castro made to Cuba’s Center of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, scientists denied they exported technology that could be used to make weapons of mass destruction.

Carter sounded apologetic even for questioning his hosts – and swallowed their claims without one shred of evidence. “I just want to assure myself,” said the Georgia Democrat, Castro’s favorite of the 10 U.S. presidents he has dealt with during his four-decade-plus dictatorship.

Here’s a close personal friend of Jimmy Carter, Meles Zenawi, from Ethiopia showing up in slot #18

(Jimmy had a little run in with a few dozen angry Ethiopian protesters in a parking lot in Minnesota in November while he was pushing his morals book and bashing President Bush.)

Jimmy Carter just rubberstamped the election results in May in favor of the dictator Meles since then, Meles has been on a shooting spree, spraying down protesters in June, November, and yesterday at a Christian Holiday celebration.

Although overlooked this year make sure you check out next year’s list for Jimmy’s close personal friend Hugo Chavez to make a big jump up in the ranks.

Now that we are reading Jimmy Carter, you should read this, it has more and first hand information in it.

Jimmy Carter’s Illegal Demands on Shah

Strong intelligence has begun to emerge that US President Jimmy Carter attempted to demand financial favors for his political friends from the Shah of Iran. The rejection of this demand by the Shah could well have led to Pres. Carter’s resolve to remove the Iranian Emperor from office. 1 GIS.

The linkage between the destruction of the Shah’s Government — directly attributable to Carter’s actions — and the Iran-Iraq war which cost millions of dead and injured on both sides, and to the subsequent rise of radical Islamist terrorism makes the new information of considerable significance.

continued.

Total lunar eclipse to occur on Tuesday

By COLLEEN SLEVIN, Associated Press Writer1 hour, 19 minutes ago

The Earth’s shadow will creep across the moon’s surface early Tuesday, slowly eclipsing it and turning it shades of orange and red. The total lunar eclipse, the second this year, will be visible in North and South America, especially in the West. People in the Pacific islands, eastern Asia, Australia and New Zealand also will be able to view it if skies are clear.

People in Europe, Africa or the Middle East, who had the best view of the last total lunar eclipse in March, won’t see this one because the moon will have set when the eclipse begins at 4:51 a.m. EDT. It will take an hour to reach full eclipse stage.

[snipped]

The next total lunar eclipse occurs Feb. 21, 2008, and will be visible from the Americas, Europe and Asia.

Why Bill Clinton was BAD for America

Clinton’s idea of “Crossing the bridge into the 21st Century” did NOT take America in the direction most Americans wanted to go as his bridge lead further into moral decacdence and eventually a Socialist State.
Bill Clinton’s Foundational Philosophy for the Socialist State

At his acceptance speech, President Clinton singled out Dr. Carroll Quigley as being one whom helped to form his political outlook. Quigley was a liberal academic with a very identifiable world view. Quigley is known principally for his 1,338 page tome called Tragedy and Hope: A History of the World in Our Times originally published in 1966.

Quigley wrote approvingly of the power, influence and activities of what he called “the network” that tries to rule the Western world. The “network” always prefers Big Government, big federal spending, and the stability of a planned society rather than the uncertainties of the free market. One example of the power of the network is the way it has forced the American taxpayers to spend some $10 billion a year on foreign giveaways every year since World War II.

Quigley described the Council on Foreign Relations as one of several “front” organizations set up by the network for the purpose of advancing its internationalist schemes. He boasted: “I know of the operations of this network because I have studied it for 20 years and was permitted for two years, in the early 1960s, to examine its papers and secret records.” Quigley asserted that he was personally acquainted with the dynastic families of the super-rich, and he traced their immense power and influence. For the most part, he was a fan of their goals and policies and said that his chief difference with the “network” was that “it wishes to remain unknown, and I believe its role in history is significant enough to be known.”

The “Hope” in his book’s title represented the collectivist one-world society that will exist when the “network” achieves its goal of consolidating its rule. All who resist this man-made millennium represent the “Tragedy,” and Quigley asserted that it was too late for ordinary people to fight it.

The economic comrade of Clinton’s who, though appointed to no official post, helped form his economic strategy is Derek Shearer, longtime associate fellow at the Institute for Policy Studies, “which is committed to socialism in America and sides with the Soviet Union on almost every important foreign policy issue,” according to a 1988 article in Policy Review.

In the book Economic Democracy, written with Martin Cornoy, Shearer says corporations are too “impersonal and powerful” and that a strategy to achieve economic democracy “must start by dismantling, or at least restricting, the power of these corporations.” Shearer and Carnoy call for a “democratically” planned economy - one planned by government bureaucrats. They also call for nothing less than complete government control of capital markets. “A strategy of reform,” they write, “must transfer capital from the corporations to the public.... The logical vehicle for that process should be the government.” The objective, according to the book, is to provide a vehicle for governmental takeovers of entire industries “without the immediate financial and ideological burdens that large-scale nationalization efforts would entail.” This has been and continues to be the strategy employed with Health Care and recent government intervention into the tobacco industry.
Bill Clinton’s vision didn’t put people first, it put government first.

Beyond all the rhetoric and ballyhoo of the Clinton administration, many American people recognized the characteristic signature of the liberal agenda, including its fascination with bloated bureaucracy, exploitation of the taxpayer for the sake of bigger and bigger government, and all the other socialized programs connected with issues such as education, health Care and the environment

Though his policies claimed to be for “the best of the country,” their ends aim at the destruction of national patriotism and personal independence.

The Clinton administration had an openly socialist agenda.

Just as frightening is that the American people either seemed not to understand, didn’t care or actually enjoyed and supported the socialist idea of having to crawl up to the government feeding trough for anything and everything from health care to food to housing. No longer did Americans ask what they can do for their country. Instead, Americans wanted to know what the country would do for them.

Bill Clinton was not alone in this move toward Socialism. The United States Congress and Democratic Party is infested with many Socialists. And, they no longer hide their affiliations. There are at least 58 members of Congress — 57 Democrats and one independent — who have signed onto the agenda of the Democratic Socialists of America. The group in the House of Representatives calls itself the Progressive Caucus. [Socialists in Congress, Jane Chastain, WorldNetDaily, Nov. 30, 1998]

Clinton’s Goal for the 21st. Century

Bill Clinton’s real goal was the creation of a new government-industrial complex similar to the corporate state established in Italy in the 1930s. In Bill Clinton’s America, Washington would dictate the details of daily economic life in an unprecedented way. His policies abounded in government interventions into the private sector, each with untold impact on the ability of American business to expand and create new jobs for American workers.

The Clinton’s want, for example, for the federal government to create a new bureaucracy to determine how much money each worker, manager, and owner of a business should be paid. His proposals required government bureaucrats to come up with a complex formula to penalize “excessive pay” in the private sector; such “excess” would not be allowed to be included as a legitimate business expense for tax purposes.

Under Clinton’s health care plan, for example, American citizens would be required to utilize a government chosen doctor for their health care and those who chose to obtain services with their own money would be considered criminals.

Socialism is government ownership and/or control over the basic means of production and distribution of services and goods. This means the government controls everything, including you. Socialism, like Communism, is a consolidate and control the wealth program; not a share-the-wealth program as many would have you believe.

America is quickly becoming a Socialist State. The following things are characteristic of socialistic forms of government proposed by the Democratic Party and illustrated by Hillary Clinton’s “village”.

* The individual loses all rights and everything is done in the name of the commonwealth (public) (read - “village”); you are officially the property of the state and not an individual with wants, desires, and needs.
There is only the rich and the commonwealth. If you are not rich, then you are a member of the commonwealth. The needs and wants of the rich come before the needs and wants of the commonwealth. In the commonwealth there are no individuals and no one has any rights whatsoever. All decisions in your behalf are made by the state. Your children are the property of the state and it is decided by the state what they will learn, who will teach them, and what will become of them. As a parent, you have little or no say in what becomes of your children, all decisions are made by the government and you accept or become an enemy of the state.

* The government owns and/or controls the basic means of production and distribution of services and goods. We are told that business and other things will be regulated but that we will still be free. Free to do what? They will operate under the illusion of a free enterprise system. All business and land, if not owned by the government or the rich, is controlled and taxed very heavily. What a contradiction of terms. How can anyone have a Socialist form of government with freedom? As stated, in a Socialist form of government the rich rule and have the power, not the people.

Keep in mind the control the government has taken in recent years of tobacco, health care, the environment, and the airline industry. Vice President Al Gore announced new efforts to make air travel safer and Americans seem eager to accept the further erosion of their rights and pay even higher tarifs to government to protect them from an unseen enemy. One lady I recently travelled with told me that she was willing to undergo an extensive selective search of her luggage “if it would make traveling safer.” Safer than what? I ask. The Clinton administration took advantage of the crash of TWA 800 to play on the fears of American travellers. It would seem a foregone conclusion that the airplane was brought down by a terrorist act - regardless of the fact there is no conclusive evidence to date that it was a criminal act. Later, in the Bush administration, the terrorist attack on 9/11 only solidified the governments intrusion into the airline industry. The heightened state of security at American airports is nothing more than another ploy of the government to further control the airline business and raise another “hidden” tax to pay for it.

* The creation of a federal or state police force; the purpose of which is to put down disturbances, political or otherwise, “root” out political enemies, ensure the loyalty of the people, and enforce laws upon taxation, population control, religion, the workplace, and the family unit.

Consider Clinton’s now infamous 100,000 more police officers on the street. Along with the government funded of those officers comes the federal control over how the recipients of the funding are used. Will this new police force be held accountable like the FBI? Attorney General Janet Reno promoted Larry Potts—who coordinated the Waco raid and was censured for his role in the 1992 Ruby Ridge, Idaho, shoot-out — to deputy director of the FBI.

* The subjection or elimination, generally the latter, of all religious institutions, with the exception of a state approved and mandated religion. This “New World Order” institution will also be used to ensure the loyalty of the people and will be used in the collection of taxes.

The Clinton presidency clearly presented a clear and present danger to the traditional American way of life that has been grounded in Judeo-Christian principles. But a much greater danger is on the horizon. This danger is the socialistic serpentine worldwide government that the Scriptures say will emerge in the end times (Rev. 13:7-8). This world empire, based in a reunified Europe, will abrogate the sovereignty of every other nation on the face of the earth. Its government will be run by godless, amoral Humanists who will worship the creation rather than the Creator (Romans. 1:25).

The average American Citizen isn’t going to give up his Constitution for some World Government too easily. We and our ancestors have fought too long and shed too much blood for it to give up easily.

The plan is for Americans to give up their freedom willingly. Socialist reform is the only way that a one world order can be established without a direct military confrontation.

“We can’t be so fixated on our desire to preserve the rights of ordinary Americans ...”
Bill Clinton (USA TODAY, 11 March 1993, page 2A)
Liberal Democratic Tactics

1. Corrupt the young.
Get them away from religion and get them interested in sex.
* God was removed from the classroom and replaced with sex education.
* The sex scandals in Washington elevated the discussion of salacious topics to the nightly news and daily newspapers. There was probably no school age person who had not seen or heard about the licentious activities carried on by the President of the United States.
* President Clinton has been credited with boosting traffic on X-rated web sites according to a story in CBS MarketWatch, Oct 8, 1998. “Bill Clinton has brought the vocabulary of sex to mainstream media,” Caity McPherson of Samantha’s Online Galleries said. “At parties now, people don’t talk about sex in literary terms. They mention cigars and brunettes. Then they go on the Web looking for brunettes using sex toys. And I make money!”
* Liberal tacticians repeated over and over again that President Clinton’s adulterous affair is common, saying “everybody does it.”

2. Control of all means of publicity and thereby:
* Distract people’s minds off their government by focusing their attention on athletics, sexy books, shows, plays, and sex in general, and other trivialities.
* Divide the people into hostile groups by constantly harping on controversial matters of no importance.
* Destroy the people’s faith in their natural leaders by holding these latter up to ridicule, obloquy, and contempt.
* Always preach true democracy, but seize power as fast and ruthlessly as possible.
* Encourage government extravagance, destroy its credit, produce fear of inflation with rising prices and general discontent.
* Foment unnecessary strikes in vital industries, encourage civil disorders and foster a lenient and soft attitude on the part of the government toward such disorders.
* By false arguments cause the breakdown of moral virtues; honesty, sobriety, continence, faith in the pledged word, ruggedness.

3. Cause the registration of all firearms on some pretext, with the view of eventually confiscating them and leaving the population helpless.

For the past 20 years, gun control measures across the country have gradually become more restrictive. And with the passage of the Crime Bill in 1994, the most sweeping gun control legislation in U.S. history, and the Brady Bill, which requires a five-day waiting period for handgun purchases, gun control advocates appeared to have gained the upper hand.

4. Encourage the passage of legislation that strangles businesses and free enterprise. All must be done in the name of the consumers and employees. Characterize businesses in general as the bad guys; sometimes the government, but never banking institutions.
* Tobacco Industry
* Health Care Industry
* Environmentalism

5. Encourage the passage of Socialist reforms in the name of “public interest,” “the will of the people,” or any other means.

Airline: Passenger Tries To Open Plane Door - Man Restrained On Flight (Passengers fight back)
WFSB ^ | August 25, 2007 | AP

Posted on 08/25/2007 4:12:44 PM PDT by LurkedLongEnough

DENVER, Colo. — A passenger tried to open a plane door during a Frontier Airlines flight on Saturday morning but was subdued by airline staff and passengers, an airline spokesman said.

Police and Transport Security Administration staff met Flight 514 after the plane landed in New York City and took the man into custody, said Frontier spokesman Joe Hodas.

Hodas said the man would not have been able to open the door even if he had not been subdued. “You need special training to open the door,” he said.

There were 128 passengers and five crew members on the plane, Hodas said.

Passenger Bobby Vigil of Estes Park told KUSA-TV the man had been acting strangely. The man, whose name was not released, was restrained for the remainder of the flight.

“I turn around and hear the flight attendant yelling for someone to help her because he opened the back door of the plane. The whole rest of the flight, all the way in, he was yelling and trying to bite the tape, and they ended up restraining him with an extra lap belt,” said Vigil.

Iran vows to use ‘smart’ bomb on enemies
AP on Yahoo ^ | 8/26/07 | Ali Akbar Dareini - ap

Posted on 08/26/2007 10:57:40 AM PDT by NormsRevenge

TEHRAN, Iran - Iran vowed Sunday to use a new 2,000-pound “smart” bomb against its enemies and unveiled mass production of the new weapon, state television reported.

The government first announced development of the long-range guided bomb Thursday, saying it could be deployed by the country’s aging U.S.-made F-4 and F-5 fighter jets.

“We will use these (bombs) against our enemies when the time comes,” Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said on state television Sunday.

Iran often announces new weapons for its arsenal, but the United States maintains that while the Islamic Republic has made some strides, many of these statements are exaggerations.

The broadcast included a brief clip of a fighter jet apparently dropping one of the bombs, which destroyed a target on the ground.

The defense minister continued his threats as state television showed him unveiling a mass production line for the weapon in Tehran.

“We will use this weapon where we want to ... hit enemy’s strategic and defense targets,” Najjar said. “This will be used against our enemies, against those who violate our land and air space.”

Israel said the claim underlines its concerns over Iran’s arms buildup.

“All countries of the Middle East, Israel included, are concerned about expansionist Iranian policies, and about their aggressive military arms buildup,” Israel’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Mark Regev said. “There is no doubt that the regime in Tehran poses a very real threat to the peace and security of the region as a whole.”

The United States and Israel accuse Iran of developing nuclear bombs, a charge Tehran denies. Iran’s president has said Israel should be wiped off the map and Israel considers Iran its main enemy.

Emanuel Winston, a Middle East analyst at the Houston-based Freeman Center for Strategic Studies, said Thursday that Iran’s smart bomb claim sounded “plausible” but said that it would be less dangerous than a missile development program given the limited range of the country’s aircraft.

Najjar was more aggressive, saying the bomb “remarkably increases Iran’s defense capabilities.”

Iran launched its own arms development program during its 1980-88 war with Iraq in response to a U.S.-led arms embargo. Since 1992, the country has produced its own tanks, armored personnel carriers, and missiles.

Earlier this month, Iran said it had started industrial-scale production of its own fighter jet, known as Azarakhsh or Lightning, to upgrade its elderly air force, much of which dates from before the 1979 revolution.

Iran last year test-fired a “ultra-horizon” missile, two powerful torpedoes and a Fajr-e Darya missile capable of avoiding radars and hitting several targets simultaneously using multiple warheads during large military maneuvers in the Persian Gulf.

Damascus Airport Called Al Qaida Hub
World Tribune ^ | August 26, 2007

Posted on 08/25/2007 8:57:40 PM PDT by Fennie

WASHINGTON — Senator Joseph Lieberman, an independent from Connecticut, has been recruiting support for legislation that would sanction Damascus International Airport. Lieberman said the airport has become the major conduit for Al Qaida fighters to Iraq as well as Iranian weapons shipments to Lebanon. He based his assertion on briefings from the U.S. military.

On Thursday, the Bush administration released an unclassified version of a national intelligence estimate that supported Lieberman’s allegations against Syria. But the report said Damascus, despite its increase in support for militias in Iraq, has cracked down on Al Qaida in wake of a determination that the Islamic movement threatens Syrian national security.

Lieberman said U.S. intelligence has determined that the lion’s share of Sunni volunteers fly into Damascus International Airport and then proceed overland to Iraq. He said this makes Damascus the hub of Al Qaida travel in the Middle East...

Rich Russian tries to buy U.S. bomber at air show (B 52)
Reuters ^ | Aug 24, 2007 | staff

MOSCOW (Reuters) - A wealthy Russian tried to buy a U.S. B-52 bomber from a group of shocked American pilots at an air show near Moscow, a Russian newspaper reported on Friday.

The unidentified Russian, wearing sunglasses and surrounded by bodyguards, approached the U.S. delegation and asked to buy the bomber, the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper said.

An astounded member of the U.S. delegation said the bomber was not for sale but that it would cost at least $500 million (249.5 million pounds) if it were to be sold on the spot.

“That is no problem. It is such a cool machine,” the Russian was quoted as saying.

Forklift accident caused radioactive spill at LAX

LA Daily News
Article Last Updated:

LOS ANGELES - A forklift punctured a cargo box containing low-grade radioactive material at Los Angeles International Airport tonight, causing a spill, authorities said.

The accident - not an act of terrorism - occurred at about 8:10 p.m. when the forklift punctured one of three boxes containing the material while unloading cargo from a Lufthansa flight, said Nancy Castles, spokeswoman for Los Angeles World Airports, which operates LAX.

Los Angeles City firefighters contained the spill to the tarmac, and a hazardous materials crew cleaned up the spill, Castles said.

About 31 workers were evaluated for exposure to radioactive material and released, she said.

Georgian Deputy Defense Minister Batu Kuteliya said this week that his
country’s radars will soon be integrated into NATO’s radar system. He
said recent alleged violations of Georgian airspace by Russian
warplanes had speeded up the effort.

Georgia Decries ‘Continuous Violation’ Of Its
Airspace

August 25, 2007 (RFE/RL) — Georgia has called on the international
community and Russia to jointly investigate what it calls the
“continuous violation” of its airspace this week, including one that
has led Tbilisi to investigate claims of a downed military jet in the
Kodori Gorge.

Russia’s Air Force has strongly denied Georgia’s suggestions that
downed jet was Russian, while Abkhazia is suggesting it was Georgian
— or even a U.S. spy plane.

The developments follow the confirmation by a Georgian official that
“warning shots” were fired at an aircraft believed to be a Russian
military plane flying over Georgian airspace in Upper Abkhazia.
Georgian Interior Ministry spokesman Shota Utiashvili told RFE/RL
today the shots were fired on the evening of August 21, but could not
confirm if the plane was hit.

The Kodori Gorge straddles Georgian-controlled Upper Abkhazia and the
pro-Russian breakaway region of Abkhazia.

“Georgia still cannot confirm the fact that a plane went down [on its
territory],” Utiashvili told RFE/RL by telephone upon returning from
the region. “We again confirm that a foreign aircraft entered our
airspace, and call upon Russia and international community to take
part in the investigation, so that it becomes possible to determine
what really happened.”

New Allegations

Today, the Georgian Foreign Ministry’s website published a statement
saying that from August 20-22, the “continuous violation of Georgian
airspace was observed by the radars of the Defense Ministry and
eyewitnesses” in Upper Abkhazia.

Utiashvili explained that “these planes entered from, and returned to,
Russia, therefore we think they were Russian planes. This is why we
want Russia to take part in the investigation.”

The head of the Russian Air Force’s public relations service earlier
today strongly denied that Russian jets violated Georgian territory.
“All our jets were at the airdromes at the time when the ostensible
intrusion into Georgian airspace took place,” Itar-Tass quoted
Aleksandr Drobyshevsky as saying. He added that Air Force jets “didn’t
make any flights in the area.”

The de facto foreign minister of Abkhazia, Sergei Shamba, meanwhile
confirmed today that an unidentified plane went down over its
territory this week.

“We believe it was a Georgian plane,” Shamba told Reuters. “It has in
the past repeatedly violated our airspace. It went down by itself, no
one downed it.” He said the plane came from the Black Sea and went
down in the mountains of Upper Abkhazia.

Interfax today quoted the head of Abkhazia’s general staff, Anatoly
Zaitsev, as saying the aircraft might have been a U.S. spy plane.

Number Of Incidents

The latest claims are likely to add to existing hostilities between
Tbilisi and Moscow. Irakli Alasania, the Georgian ambassador to the
UN, on August 22 said his country was determined to resist Russia’s
tactics.

Earlier this month, on August 6, Georgia alleged that a Russian plane
dropped a 4.8-meter Kh-58 antiradar missile in a field outside a
village near Georgia’s border with its breakaway region of South
Ossetia.

The missile did not explode and caused no injuries.

Russia rejected those claims as “politically motivated” fabrications.
Two teams of military experts from Western countries have given
preliminary backing to Georgia’s claims, however.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has said that Georgia’s missile claims
are a ploy to undermine relations with Moscow and draw closer to NATO.

Georgian Deputy Defense Minister Batu Kuteliya said this week that his
country’s radars will soon be integrated into NATO’s radar system. He
said recent alleged violations of Georgian airspace by Russian
warplanes had speeded up the effort.

Terrorist ‘showed beheading videos’

http://www.berwickshire-news.co.uk/latest-scottish-news/Student-showed-beheading-videos.3145958.jp

Student ‘showed beheading videos’

A student facing a series of terrorism charges showed fellow pupils
videos
of a beheading and suicide bombers, a court has heart.
Mohammed Atif Siddique, 21, also told classmates he supported the work
of al
Qaida and idolised Osama bin Laden.

He is facing five charges including possessing, collecting and
distributing
terrorist propaganda and providing instructional material for
bomb-making.
Siddique, from Alva, in Clackmannanshire, has denied all the charges.

At the High Court in Glasgow, fellow student Fozia Begum said the
accused
had shown her militant websites when they were studying together at
Glasgow
Metropolitan College.

The 23-year-old told the court Siddique

showed her and others footage of a beheading and of a man who had blown
himself up. She said: “He showed somebody who had their head chopped
off.

“There were three men standing there and one guy on the floor. A guy
walked
up and cut his head off.”

She described another video Siddique showed her.

It showed the face of a smiling man who had blown himself up.

“There was a dead guy smiling. He said he had a smile on his face
because he
had committed Jihad,” she told the court.

Questioned by Crown counsel Brian McConnachie QC, she said Siddique did
not
get on with her cousin Razia Hussain because she was a Shia Muslim
unlike
Siddique, who was a Sunni. Miss Hussain told the court Siddique had
said he
wanted to blow up Glasgow. Siddique also watched videos of Osama bin
Laden
and idolised him, Miss Begum said.

Stupidocracy at Work

I’m disseminating this story for one reason and one only. We’ve all
read
about the 7 yr old several times already so that isn’t news. What I
want to
comment on is the final paragraph of this journalist ... it follows:

Fortunately, in Javaid Iqbal’s case sanity eventually prevailed and the
family was able to return-several hours late-to the UK. But the
impression
broadcast to the world is that America, in protecting itself against
terrorists, has become not only heartless, but profoundly stupid.
That’s a
pity.

David Aikman is a Senior Fellow of The Trinity Forum and a naturalized
U.S.
citizen.

AND NOW!!!.....First and foremost, I would rather be delayed by a few
minutes or few hours while the TSA (OK, I’ve not a whole bunch of good
things to say about them!) checks out a person (and luggage of same)
whose
name appears on the terrorist list and I really don’t care how old he
is.
By no means do I think there are a lot of 7 yr old bomb toting kids
flying
around the country, but it was only last month when I sent out an
article on
a SIX YR OLD SUICIDE BOMBER.

And NOW.......here’s my real gripe. The journalist is a NATURALIZED
CITIZEN. Mr. Aikman wasn’t born in the United States but at least at
one
time in his life, he was smart enough to apply for citizenship. But I
have
a problem, even though he’s legal, of him (or anyone else living here)
to
say that “the impression broadcast to the world is that America, in
protecting itself against terrorists, has become not only heartless,
but
PROFOUNDLY STUPID”. Well, Mr. Aikman, You have us AMERICANS confused
with
someone WHO CARES WHAT YOU THINK. Kindly do us all a favor and return
to
wherever you came from and see if they’ll entertain the idea of
returning
your citizenship...THERE........NOT HERE.

By the way, when I’m sitting in the boarding area of the airport, it’s
the
70 yr old grandmothers and the 7 yr old kids I watch.........they’re as
likely to be trained in terrorism as the “Middle-Eastern looking man”.

Stupidocracy at Work

http://www.ttf.org/index/about/aikman/ David Aikman

http://www.ttf.org/index/journal/detail/stupidocracy-at-work/

Ever since 9/11, one of the main agencies working at the task of
defending
ordinary Americans against acts of terrorism has been the
Transportation
Security Administration. The good folks at this agency are the ones who
ensure that, when you proceed through airport security checks, you
clutch
your toothpaste (no more than three ounces), shampoo, and shaving cream
in a
clear plastic bag as though you were a colostomy patient.

In the rush to protect America’s air travel after 9/11, a lot of folks
were
hired who-we might say-were “common-sense-challenged.” There were
stories of
elderly ladies being taken aside and body-searched, of Members of
Congress
misidentified as possible terrorists, and even of people who looked
“Middle
Eastern” (whatever that means) being taken off planes. A high
proportion of
those hired by the TSA seemed to be immigrants with minimal command of
English, which of course does wonders for the average American
traveler’s
sense of security.

One recent incident, however, has made it clear that, among the many
qualifications presumably sought by the TSA among its employees, common
sense is not one of them.

One recent incident, however, has made it clear that, among the many
qualifications presumably sought by the TSA among its employees, common
sense is not one of them. A British seven-year-old named Javaid Iqbal
was
being rewarded by his Pakistani parents with a trip to Disneyworld in
Orlando, Florida. Unfortunately, his name was a real problem. It turned
out
to be the same as a suspected Pakistani terrorist deported from the
U.S.
shortly after 9/11.

Signs of impending difficulties in the U.S. first occurred during
check-in
at Manchester Airport in England. But the authorities there seemed to
notice
that Javaid-traveling with three siblings under the age of nine and his
mother, who is an M.D. (his father is an anesthetist)-just possibly was
not
the same person as the adult deportee with the same name. The family
boarded
the flight in time, flew to Orlando, and had a wonderful time.

It was on their return that what might be called the dictatorship of
the
stupidocracy went to work. At both Orlando, where the family boarded a
flight back to Philadelphia. Then, in Philadelphia, Javaid and his
mother
were detained and interrogated by TSA officials for hours. Because the
interrogation went on so long, their tickets back to the UK were
canceled
and they missed their scheduled flight out of Philadelphia. Poor Javaid
was
in tears several times.

Cases of identical names of travelers are common enough. But was it
really
likely that a seven-year-old, traveling with his mother and siblings,
was a
possible suicide bomber? Couldn’t some reasonably serious official have
said, “We’ve searched their luggage, asked them some questions, and now
it’s
time to send them on their way”?

America is not unique in having a bureaucracy that sometimes seems to
run
things oppressively. Germany, for example, is notorious for
bureaucratic
nit-picking, as is Japan. But where America does seem to be unique is
in the
incredible lack of common sense of some of the government’s
bureaucratic
decisions. Fortunately, in Javaid Iqbal’s case sanity eventually
prevailed
and the family was able to return-several hours late-to the UK. But the
impression broadcast to the world is that America, in protecting itself
against terrorists, has become not only heartless, but profoundly
stupid.
That’s a pity.
