Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

“These days it would be unrealistic to go all the way to a flat tax. But you can use it as a guide to figure out how you’re going to simplify taxes.”

Rudy G

I’m unclear where this is bad. After the current crews energy bill...farm bill and highway bill which added untold pages to the tax system and subsidized wealthy conglomerates like ADM and Cargill for boondoggles like ethanol ...using the flat tax as a model is a bad thing?

He’s acknowledging the truth...you could never fully implement it. But at least he’s working on it. Geeez hit him on social issues but give him some credit for doing something good

Spoken like the supporter of a candidate who believes in government telling me what I should do. A licence? You sound like the Wizard of Oz telling someone that a diploma makes them smart.

A DEGREE. you want training to practice, not just a license from the government.

Anyway, sure, it's a stretch, but I saw a lot of "we here there is a purge coming" notes and posts, before a couple pro-rudy people started posting things they had to pull themselves they were so outrageous.

Just a note, but the spending shown by our Republican Congressmen last year was anything but conservative. Does that mean none of the people who voted on those spending bills are conservative? Of course not.

And I haven’t said I’m not socially conservative. I’ve said that I’m putting national security ahead of social issues. As are lots of conservatives, including people who self identify as socons.

If socons self identify themselves as such, does that mean they aren’t really conservatives because they aren’t as concerned with national security or spending? Naturally it doesn’t mean that at all.

"for the first time in modern politics, the GOP runs the risk of allowing a true third party threat to take shape in 2008."

I hear that from someone on this board EVERY election cycle. I think Perot doused the "third party" idea for a long, long while.

The third party gang gave us bill clinton, and this country has been on a downhill slide straight to hell since then...and now HIS WIFE IS RUNNING? Certainly Americans won't be stupid enough to allow her to be elected President. If so, let's put our heads between our legs and kiss our collective asses "goodbye".

If she gets in, somebody hasn't been paying attention. I know, the "sheep" among us will go along with the hollywood left, and do what's "in" at the time.

I personally can do without Rudy as President. Sure, he had high visibility on 9/11, but did he actually do anything any other mayor of a city that large (and visible) would not have done? What was he going to do, sit home and whittle whimseys?

If Sean Hannity has anything to do with it Rudy will be elected - and I have always liked Sean, listen to him everyday - but he is ultra-HIGH on Rudy...talks about him incessantly.

It's going to be uphill, whomever runs. The last 3 elections were pretty close, and now with the whack job the libs and the press have put on Bush, it's going to be even closer.

Go Fred...

What has Giuliani done to institute better national security? What did he do in new york to stop the terrorist threat? What legislation has he pushed since then?

He’s your candidate, what are his qualifications on national security?

If the GOP nominates a pro-abortion gungrabbing liberal like Rudy, they forfeit my vote, and the results are their fault, not mine.

As if they have to try

The so called "conservative base" is in PERPETUAL alienated mode; something offends one of them each and every day and off they go, moralizing and pontificating.

You see, there are alot like me, who didn’t sit at home but didn’t vote for the those we were told we should “because they can win’. Some of us actually do vote FOR our values rather than bandwagon style.

It’s so interesting that when Republicans spend a lot of money in Congress, they’re condemned for it, but they’re rarely called liberal. But oh, if someone puts national security ahead of abortion, why they’re just treasonous liberals.

Only a couple of people have been banned, and they were banned for posting lies about other conservatives, and posting things so wrong that they themselves had their own comments pulled.

Yep. That's yours is a great tag-line.

Respecting to your first comments: at worst Sadaam was "rumored" to have WMD's. Given what was known by almost every intelligence agency in the world, failing to act in an overt military sense was a non-issue.

Don't accuse me of separating anthing between anything. I'm stating a blatent fact about what is.

You said:

It’s not an ‘either’,’or’ situtation. It’s both, including ‘fiscal’. You cannot say that true ‘conservatism’ is one or the other.
I understand the difference between practical and pragmatic.

Don't pigeon-hole me as being an advocate for any sort of ideology. Regardless of whatever political rhetoric is being spewed, I believe that there is a subliminal and tacit approval by Congress and the Senate concerning Executive policy.

There is at least an implicit consent respecting the operations in Iraq pertaining to WOT. We'll soon find out just how explicite the consent is concerning all that based on the fact that the military will need money real soon.

The last bill had two major aspects to it: lots and lots of pork, and a artificial deadline. Bush said that he'd reject any sort of deadline, does that mean he'd accept any number with respect to pork? Would it be acceptable to double the cost of the war if 1/2 of the cost was pork for those Democrat/Republican legislators that wouldn't vote otherwise $'s came into their district?

Frankly, I believe that all the nonsense about the pork will come down to whether or not any of it can be paid for on the U.S.A. credit card.
