"I doubt that there is anything "theological" about Mary being taken away, bones and all, to heaven."

Whether there is or not, my Bible tells me not to be a "stumbling block" to other Christians. Since I don't believe it matters to our salvation one way or the other whether one believes Mary's body ascended to Heaven, it's no big deal to me. Who am I to judge another's servant? My best friend is a 7th Day Adventist. While 7th dayers are strictly biblical in their faith they believe in keeping the Old Testament dietary habits and the Saturday Sabbath. Although I believe Jesus' new covenant releases us from this part of the law, I don't argue with him over it. In fact, when we are together I try not to eat pork or shellfish so as not to be a stumbling block to him. He is devout child of Christ and it would be a sin for me to do anything which could interfere with that.

"Assumption happened to at least a couple of OT folks"

Enoch and Elijah.

Likewise, Mary was assumed body and soul into Heaven.

I never heard that one before.

It's a Catholic thing. We're taught that Mary ascended into heaven.

Assumed not ascended.

Yes Jesus ascended through his own power as God. Mary was assumed, not the same thing.

Then how could Mary be your Co-Redemptrix? Especially if she did not die for your sins?

Anyway, I'm a Calvinistic Baptist. I only spoke up because some of you pretend non-Catholics don't exist and you like to hide how modern some of your 'ancient' doctrines are. You're the last ones to ever mention how modern, for instance, the infallibility of the pope is. Then you all just pretend that these beliefs were uniform throughout the ancient church. And it's not true. Of course, this is part of why the pope deemed himself infallible, namely, so he could pronounce such flaky doctrines as official dogma.

You can always tell when Easter is approaching, because some writer finds the body of Jesus again...

You still have the opportunity to convert to the one, true religion, and correct your misapprehensions of Catholicism, assuming you have not died yet when you read this.

Yeah, we can tell by how many sincere Catholics you've had to correct on this doctrine.

I don't worry over Catholics much as long as the central focus of their faith is centered around our Lord, Jesus Christ, and His redemption of His flock. I do speak up when a bunch of ancient or modern myths are raised up which rob Him of His glory as Savior.

Number 2: How about you don't worry about us at all, we're doing just fine.

"Tests prove the names are genetically of the same family and statistically, there is a one in 10 million chance this is a family other than the Holy Family," the pre-publication publicity for the book said.

ROFLMOL...oh really? And whose DNA did they COMPARE this DNA to in order to arrive at a 10 Million to one certainty? This isn't even as rational as Gore science.

I'm not. But you are. Demonstrably so, given some of the responses on this thread.

OK,that's it! I call a Catholic jihad. Since we are the only ones who "believe" in Mary, I call her as ours. As such, we are the only ones allowed to talk about her!!! (you get the sarcasm, right?)

Mr Gat died several years ago. His boss, Prof Amos Kloner...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the same Professor Amos Kloner who tried to pass off as genuine the ossuary supposedly containing the bones of one "James, brother of Jesus"?

IIRC, the inscription on that box was found to be a modern day forgery.
