but until it's sulfur free

Have you tried any of the sulfite-free wines?  I don't think they have reached 'decaf' in flavor if you will but there are many out there.

Never tried one, would like to hear a first hand report.

Nah, restaurants are not the same as supermarkets.

I know enough people with nasty allergies to understand the need for labelling.

As an E.D. physician I see the occasional anaphylaxsis.

So does this come down to a molecular/DNA/immune level of toxicity in the average human and should that information be mandated to be labeled on every product at every level at any expense per government mandate?

This survivor of a nasty case of Stevens-Johnson syndrome that swiped a large portion of my younger life didn't get a gubmint warning from the Cleosin injections that saved my life but also almost killed me at the same time, 1976.  To be sure, the cure can be worse than the disease.  FR me for details if interested.

But back on topic, have you ever heard of anyone dying from a glass of wine that was not related to the 'alcohol' component?

So companies should not be expected to tell you what ingredients they put into food? what about calories? other nutritional information? Should Microsoft and Apple be allowed to put in software that sells your info to criminals without telling you? what about those pesky building and fire codes right out the window eh?

Printing a label that says 'I put peanuts in this' is not costly nor socialist...

Why is it asking soo much to erquire food produces tell you whats in the food.

Because it is NOT THE GOVERNMENT'S JOB to "require" businesses to do so.

Let the "free market" decide. If there are enough of you out there, business will accommodate you without law from the government.

I have used isinglass ie fish guts in all my home brews with great success. It binds with the particles in suspension and falls to the bottom. I siphon off the top and get good clear beer. It's all good.

I'm really surprised! I have never heard of that before in home brew or in any brewing process. I just looked it up on Wikipedia, and sure enough you're right.

I guess I got to eat some crow. That's alright though. I'll wash it down with a beer. ; )

The big boys, even in the micro circuits, use filters. Us little fish are left to other means. You know that "beechwood aging" that Bud touts? That is a fining process as well. Much more so than an aging or taste process. They reuse chips over and over and by doing so also recollect their yeast.

No not being a wine expert(I have tried to aquire a taste but have yet to find one I can drink) I was unaware that wines potentially carried these allergens. carried these allergens. All I am saying is that a general label saying that a certain product carries a potential allergen hazard would be ok with me. Do I like the govt madating it? no1 But anaphylaxsis is a poorly understood entity and some of these allergens are in things you would never think of. I was in Publix super market yesterday. In the Bakery they have a sign saying that some of the baking products may contain peanut flour or soy. That I think is good enough and I dont think it was govt mandated.
I think it is a good idea for companies to do this on thier own. Lets face it if a child with a peanut allergy dies from something like a hoagie roll from publix you can bet your ass Publix will be sued.
