No I don't like it...but if you're going to criticize be a man about about and offer up your ideas when you can be challenged. Ford's post mortem pot shots are worse than Carter and Clinton's constant criticisms because they can be refuted and challenged.

Appointing Rockefeller as his VP was the giveaway. Though he claimed to be a conservative, Ford was nothing more than a flunky for the Eastern establishment wing of the Republican party.

Disagree -- tax cuts are inherently anti-inflationary.

If you pump dollars into a economy without killing the underlying inflationary pressures you just get more inflation. Period. If Reagan's tax cuts had been instituted in 1973 we'd have had a 20% plus inflation rate instantly.

Ford never understood the power of ideas and didn't understand how Reagan's rhetoric was as important as the defense buildup.

Historians will debate how much this was true for GWB as well. The question in my mind is whether W fails to grasp the importance of rhetoric or is simply incapable of execution.

It is a common misunderstanding that tax cuts simply pump additional money into the economy. If the government printed money with nothing to back it up, THAT would create inflation.

However, tax cuts don't add additional money to the money supply. The economic growth produced by tax cuts results from people having more incentives to work, save, invest, make new products, create new services, etc.

It's part of the "invisible hand."

I'll wager he's called him a "clymer" a time or two or three, etc.

Yes, Carter was terrible. Harding, Buchanan, Nixon, and Andrew Johnson were the worst along with Carter. But Ike was a good Prez, and JFK was decent. Ford was mediocre. I like the current Prez. Both Roosevelts were very strong leaders. And so was Ronald Reagan, a world-changing figure.

My wife works in a public library, and a kid two weeks ago (probably about 10 years old) asked why the flag was at half staff. "Because Ford died," he was told, to which he responded "Harrison Ford has died?!!!"

All I saw up here in the People's Republic of Maine, was how he bashed Reagan.

More proof of how mediocre Ford was. He could get some things right, like seeing how bad Carter was. But many things went completely over his head, like Reagan's genius

Yep. This board was fawning all over him when he died. He was a decent guy, but rather sucked as a President. WIN buttons to combat inflation, and the fall of Vietnam on his watch (not his fault entirely, but I never heard him stand up against the Democraps to stop them.....as a matter of fact, never heard him stand up against the Democraps period.) Lasting legacy is John Paul Stevens. When Eisenhower is considered great in Fords eyes verses Reagan, you can tell that Ford thought that the office should be occupied by a golfer, because thats mostly what Ike did while in office!
