You're going to fault him because of his name? I guess no one named Joseph can ever become president because of Stalin.
Faulty logic.
Jospeh has no negative connotations. I could imagine someone feeling that they wouldn't be comfortable with the name Stalin ... or Hitler ... or Ahmadinejad, etc.
Terrifying, isn't it?
Isn't he the one that's been healing people and making the blind see lately?
How many Hitlers or Ahmadinejads went through life without killing anyone? What's faulty logic is hearing that someone has the name Hussein and automatically thinking about Saddam's crimes. Whatever your opinion of Obama, he has no reason to be ashamed of his name.
Good for you, vote for him.
Even he admits his name will be a hurdle.
I didn't say I would vote for him. How the hell could you get that out of the comments I've made on this thread? You really look silly when you focus on names and not issues.
Obama has zillions of marks against him. His name is not the most important one.
Iamge, whether you like it or not, is a factor in electability. A person's way of speaking, clothes, mannerisms ... everything is important. Every politician for higher office has an image consultant, even Republicans.
It's just one of those little niggling problems.
Imagine a politician with Tourette's Syndrome wherein they shout out an obscenity or explative from time to time. A medical problem ... but it jusy might have an impact on electablitiy.
I know you're trying to make it out that some people are shallow ... but image matters whether it should or not.
This should send more than a antenna clicking. An honest man wouldn't fake his own autobiography. A man with a conscience wouldn't so casually admit it.
Post #2 "I couldn't care less about his name, and I believe the same is true for just about everyone else."
Not so, my friend. We've had Islam crammed down our throats since 9-11 and I'll be damned if I want to hear our President addressed as 'Barak Ismail Akhtar al-Sulaiman bin Saddam Mohammed Hussein Obama'
with Disney's ESPN leading the way. Did you see Osama's < / Edwin Kennedy > intro on espn's little football show?
Do you really believe most people are dumb enough to hold a person's name against them?
I prefer to call him "B. Hussein O." Rhymes with the liquid crystals for brains that voted for him.
You're right. A person's name is one of the most important factors in deciding a president./sarcasm
The old man tried to put the touch on him,eh?
Wonder if Obama has a "daddy erruption team". You know, keeping the old man from being a Teresa Heinz-Kerry, or a Billy ("Beer") Carter.
(By the by, is his old man even still alive?)
Ditto. His loyalties lies elsewhere.
All of my points in 48 are right on the money.
And I'm smart enough to know that you're not a very nice person since you are bringing up my intelligence. That was really dumb, in fact.
