Dick Morris: 20 years of Democratic Control
Fox News | 11/9/06

Posted on 11/09/2006 5:25:38 AM PST by pabianice

Dick Morris just on Fox: he said this is the beginning of an historic swing to the Dems. The next two years will be an unending blizzard of hearings and subpoenas and trials which, with the help of a drooling leftist media, will blanket the country, destroying the Republican Party and ensuring that dems control Congress and the White House for the foreseeable future.

Standard Morris stuff. Didn't he predict that the Repubs would keep Congress? I think it more likely that the Dems will take-off their masks and give the country a horror show for the next two years, something the elctorate doesn't want. We'll see.

Dick Morris proved long ago that his only talent is getting Democrats elected. And sucking toes.

I hope Morris is wrong. However, the last time the Democrats won the House, they controlled it continuously for 40 years.

Morris has one agenda: keep Hillary out of office. He's resorting to scare tactics and manipulation to herd people down a particular path that will make sure she does not become president. His apparent split personality comes from his need to constantly adjust the controls as conditions change.

/speculation

It is going to happen. The GOP is going to splinter...The blue bloods will push to abondon the Christian right, as the moderates will do as well. The efforts to move the party to the "middle" have already begun.

The GOP cannot win without ALL of the various factions, blue bloods, moderates, and Christian conservatives. The margins for victory are so thin that if ANY stay home, the GOP loses....If the party goes moderate, which is exactly what it is about to do....they will NEVER, EVER hold a majority again.

Of course, Morris is WRONG about one thing...there won't be twenty years of dem rule, because this nation will NOT survive twenty years with the dems not enforcing our borders and refusing to KILL the enemies of our country.

The only thing I agree with Rush from yesterday is, it will get worse before it gets better. It's a shame that the entire country has to suffer through it all though. It's a frightening though Morris proposes. If, and that's a big IF, this happens, this country will never recover. Never. Any advancement of government, especially entitlement programs, will never be rescinded, no matter how conservative the government gets.

.
Nancy Pelosi was asked the other day about a Bush impeachment and she stated there definitely would not be one. But the look on her face indicated she has something else in mind -- a war crimes trial.

yah right. Just because Dick Morris says it, doesn't make it so.

There is a case to be made though, for leaving the Republicans to take their richly deserved lumps, and striking out with a Conservative Party...

It is THAT bad. Bush is already talking about giving amnesty to the 12+ million illegals who live here as part of "working together" with the Dims. They get to vote, it will be the end of the GOP.

Exactly right. I think this was the last election ever to give conservatives/Republicans a chance to pull their chestnuts out of the fire. I hope I'm wrong but back when I went to school I learned how to count. Demographics is destiny.

He should have also seen the creation of a Conservative Party in his crystal ball then, which would be a very good thing.

Oh I agree that the House of Representatives will take awhile to recover. The Senate and the Executive though I think are a faster path. Even still, 20 years is excessive. There is lower turnout in non presidential elections. This means that while the results are bad and the R's in Congress did perform badly long before the election, this is not necessarily an automatic 20 year cycle. People, candidates make a difference. Smart strategies and candidates can drive the debate. Had Reagan won the party nod in 1976, would Congress have shifted sooner? Speculation, but interesting stuff all the same.

Getting to the historical example, let's note the exceptions. Partisan affiliation is down on both sides and the largest and fastest growing party is no party. In elections gone by, libertarians were more apt to cast their votes for D's or R's, whereas in this election, some went to libertarians and some sat it out. In reading libertarian blogs, there's a difference between pro and anti defense libertarians, but it appears that there are more pro defense libertarians than anti. Thus a loss of libertarians would indicate a greater threat to R's.

For truly non partisans, the crazy talk of the left drove many to vote R in the past. This time, Nancy Pelosi went on holiday and thus the D's fought something with nothing.

Lastly, the speed of information flow is more accelerated than in years past. And the structural controls by the Establishment Media have weakened.

History is important, but it's just as important to note where the comparisons may be at odds.

Morris called this election correctly...

Which time? Dick called it both ways and by varying amounts several times. I'd bet that if you looked back at his articles after '04 you could find one saying the Republicans would hold the Congress for 20+ years. The man makes enough predictions so that one of them has to come true, and then afterward he points to that one to prove how right he was.

How he has any credibility is beyond me. A Morris appearance on any Talk show is a automatic station change for me... I can't listen to him.

If you look at how many more Dems voted than Repubs, even for a pornographer like Webb, Hitlery Roddamn will win by at least ten million votes.

I think Pat Cadell has a better track record of predicting these things. He said the democrats would win this time around but prove to be so insane that they would lose it in the next election. One thing Pat knows is how to lose.

No

We have the census coming up in 2010. We have a chance to work on the local level to rebuild to get those states back which will have significant movement in reapportionment- PA OH MI WI MN -Forget NY as well as plus side in AZ, NV,

We still have the districts in these areas designed to our advantage. We can not afford PA or OH to be come another IL or sadly like NY now

OTOH if the preseident does not get a pair, Why bother working to regain this? Then look out b/c here comes "Amerika".

He doesn't understand the terrorists. The Rats will allow them to grow and there will be an electorate that will beg a strong Republican to find and kill them.

His name will be Rudy
