Subtle gong alert, scrolled on the bottom of the screen.
If the crats make cutting and running their goal for the 2008 election, they will lose. No one will vote for defeat.
No, but he should be setting us up to win...
"Legislation" is not an end in itself.
God bless your nephew! Please tell him we love him with our whole heart, and our prayers are with him. Tell him we are so thankful for his service, and that we are honored to have him fighting to keep us safe and free.
Oh, man. I am going to go into political seclusion over the next two years until this non-communicative president is gone, gone, gone. He is an embarrasment to conservatives.
I guess that now he will respond to the democrat demands to send our troops to the Sudan to try to build some kind of "freedom and democracy" for those Sudanese. After all it was such a success in Haiti, Somalia and Iraq.
EP....
You're right.
Weird.
I FEEL FOR HIM.....GOD HELP HIM NOW.
Not even the Democrats thought they would take the Senate. The House was in play and not in such a big way. Plus, all those Governships and state legislatures.
It's one thing to know it's a possibility, its another thing to actually have it happen.
Just human nature, no need to condemn ...
I was so hoping I had misheard him.
I take it you were busy last night.
Can you believe the balls on that reporter for asking that question?!!!!
He reached across the aisle with a Majority Rep Senate and House. Know what that got him? FEW conservatives promises kept to the electorate so that Dems could run as conservatives and win.
You are deluding yourself if you think they stop with Rummy.
The new Tone, bi-partisan appeal needs to be abandoned but apparently he's still clinging to it.
Boy, I miss Reagan.
Maybe the Media needs to be exposed, I bet a whole lot of skeletons are in those closets. They would deserve it considering how high and mighty they believe themselves to be.
Where is McCain?
Stop this torture!
Isn't there a law against it?
[GW should have come out, made a statement accepting Rummy's resignation, congratulated the Dems on their win, and gone back to the Oval Office.]
The people wanted their officials to fight for them, instead we saw them turn their backs to avoid conflict and nearly every turn. And he's got the wrong message- he thinks we want our officials to be even more dainty with the Democrats. All we really wanted was leadership and all we got was McCain driving the agenda, over and over.
They turned their backs on all the treason... they let Sandy Berger get off and he'll even get his security clearance back soon.
They didn't prosecute the leakers...
They didn't replace the clingons and they've paid dearly for it.
The congress just kept spending and spending...
Our officials went belly up on campaign finance
They went belly up on tax reform
They didn't make an issue of things like eminent domain- we had to do that ourselves.
They treated the press corp with kid gloves and let them have their way with throwing conservative reporters out. Instead of being testy with the press- which is hated by conservatives everywhere, they quailed and let the press set the agenda, which was frustrating to no end.
And the administration never did stop kissing up to the Hamas front group CAIR, never did distance themselves from it, instead giving them a forum and a say they should never have been granted.
The people were treated to news of terrorists getting piddling littlle sentences and enemies from the battlefield being released to fight again. The perception was it was a catch-and-release war, that even if the Democrats were surrender junkies, the Republicans were "surrender-junky lite."
Down here in FL, the people at the polls were grumbling the most about the the massive insurance bills we'd all just received before the election... and about the higher property assessments which had driven up taxes. And they weere blaming the party in power for it.
Bush sounds human and has cowboy'd up and made the necessary changes. Sounds like Rummy was shown the door and not resigned. He sounds off script and more relaxed. When you plasy tight you make mistakes. The Bi-partisan crap is just that crap. Americans love when people kick someone when they are down, masterful by Bush. That's it MSM gloat, we'll hang one on you in 2008
OMG.
I think W has invented 4-5 new words today.
Whatever.
I still say this thread is full of folks who need to go buy Depends.
when is this going to be over? doesn't anyone like Tony Snow see how badly this is going, can't they signal him to just cut it off.
Don't you think he is just being a gentleman as he always is? What would you have him say about Hillary? I would say she is a nasty Bi%c^! but he can't do that.........
This is a presser ...not a pep rally for us supporters.
Don't you think he is just being a gentleman as he always is? What would you have him say about Hillary? I would say she is a nasty Bi%c^! but he can't do that.........
Thank you. I will.
I'm sick of these reporters.
He was saying that not everything was about Iraq. He was answering a question about quitting Iraq. I think Clinton did run a good race in New York, and Rendell ran a good race in Pennsylvania. He also said Casey ran a "good race", but said it was the turnout machine there that worked.
Stil, any thing he says that points it back to him takes it away from the democrats. And he's not bargaining on anything the democrats want. He is saying he'll listen to ideas, but won't adjust his positions now in the press conference.
Look, we are all upset and nothing Bush says will matter. He is trying to define his agenda, some of which we won't like and now will pass, like immigration, but he is trying to grab the agenda.
I don't recognize this man. I half expect him to start to cry.
HOLY CROW!!!!
He is attacking us DIRECTLY on immigration now, folks!
Under the circumstances, what does anyone expect the President to do at this moment in time? He is gracious in his loss, trying to be conciliatory and is taking his beating from the (left-wing) press as well as he can. He can't just disappear from facing this on camera. The entire world is watching this. What does anyone expect him to say? He DOES support the troops, etc. etc. He's probably been up all night. Rumsfeld has resigned. It's not a real good day for him. And I hope Mr. Rumsfeld takes a nice long, well-earned vacation with his family. He's 72-years-old. He deserves a break. He's earned it. Let him go in peace.
we will have cut and ran by then.
the rats probably have something on Casey. He was too close to X42. this will be 1975 redux, to usher in the new party in 08 and nicely giftwrap up all the country and worlds problems on Bush ala Nixon, without the Watergate part which is not needed.
GW: Oh Yah! A question on Comprehensive Immigration Reform. You BET! We can now get it passed.
It doesn't matter. Bush is a lame duck. The next two years will be filled with primary talk -- on both parties.
The Republican candidates will be able to run against something. It would have been difficult with both houses and the White House. At least we have this. No one from Bush's administration will be running for president. He has become a non-factor, politically. Republicans will not have to reflexively defend him and Iraq will not be an issue.
Iran will have a nuke by then.
Nope. The democrats did not make cutting and running their platform. It was more like Bush is screwing it up. That is an easier thing to pull a lever for than, "Bush is screwing it up, AND we ought to get out of there right now and admit defeat." They did not offer a solution, only criticize what is going now.
Had they articulated their solution (or had the republicans articulated it for them), we would not have lost.
This presser will not be complete until we hear from Helen.
Cheney. I have been a George W Bush supporting since the 70's when he ran for congress here in West Texas, but today.... he is just falling apart. I love him, I support him, but this is painful and he just needs to stop talking.
He is flustered....
Ah-Ha! Here comes amnesty!
Wonderful presser today...
Someone could at least callhis cell phone.
So is America...hence their declining ratings and record layoffs at news outlets
This is why I've always liked Bush..
He's simply a No Bullsh*t kind of guy....
We LOST, time to move on, get over it...
recriminations help no one, and most of us here thought the American electorate had ennough brains to know better...
But Even I had forgotten what a management Prof taught in college:
"If you're writing a manual for High School Graduates, it nust be written to the comprehension Level of an 8th grader..."
..AND PRAY FOR THE MAN!!!!
Yes I do.
This is disgusting. They hate him and they're playing him like a frick'n Stradavarius.
I've had enough. Basta.
Ditto. Time to turn of the idiot box and get to some of those projects I've been putting off. I'm just going to block it all out for the next two years and pray for our soldiers and pray the country doesn't get hit again.....Oh, and pray we come up with a good candidate for '08.
OVER...THANK GOD.
All the good guys on immigration were defeated yesterday. You figure it out.
Do you notice how he is consistently stopping the questions and correcting or repeating what the "facts" are, so they get it right (and he even said that)?
He's a great man, God Bless him.
Heard that, turned livid...
Fine Bush, you'd rather work with Dems than me...have a good time!
Does the conference exist for the press itself?
Or does it exist so the press can communicate his message to us the people?
Yea, What is all this whining about? You want Bush to come out swinging and go all out saying yesterday's win was a win for terrorist and all that kind of stuff? I can't bear to watch it so I just turned the channel.
Yes, I'm still here and haven't started packing. ;-)
I will not give up on Iraq. Not unless something forces me to do it. I've seen to much progress here and if the Democrats screw this up it will be a true abomination.
Screw the damn Democrats; I'm in for the long haul.
