He was saying that not everything was about Iraq. He was answering a question about quitting Iraq. I think Clinton did run a good race in New York, and Rendell ran a good race in Pennsylvania. He also said Casey ran a "good race", but said it was the turnout machine there that worked.

Stil, any thing he says that points it back to him takes it away from the democrats. And he's not bargaining on anything the democrats want. He is saying he'll listen to ideas, but won't adjust his positions now in the press conference.

Look, we are all upset and nothing Bush says will matter. He is trying to define his agenda, some of which we won't like and now will pass, like immigration, but he is trying to grab the agenda.

Under the circumstances, what does anyone expect the President to do at this moment in time? He is gracious in his loss, trying to be conciliatory and is taking his beating from the (left-wing) press as well as he can. He can't just disappear from facing this on camera. The entire world is watching this. What does anyone expect him to say? He DOES support the troops, etc. etc. He's probably been up all night. Rumsfeld has resigned. It's not a real good day for him. And I hope Mr. Rumsfeld takes a nice long, well-earned vacation with his family. He's 72-years-old. He deserves a break. He's earned it. Let him go in peace.

we will have cut and ran by then.

the rats probably have something on Casey. He was too close to X42. this will be 1975 redux, to usher in the new party in 08 and nicely giftwrap up all the country and worlds problems on Bush ala Nixon, without the Watergate part which is not needed.

It doesn't matter. Bush is a lame duck. The next two years will be filled with primary talk -- on both parties.

The Republican candidates will be able to run against something. It would have been difficult with both houses and the White House. At least we have this. No one from Bush's administration will be running for president. He has become a non-factor, politically. Republicans will not have to reflexively defend him and Iraq will not be an issue.

Iran will have a nuke by then.

Nope. The democrats did not make cutting and running their platform. It was more like Bush is screwing it up. That is an easier thing to pull a lever for than, "Bush is screwing it up, AND we ought to get out of there right now and admit defeat." They did not offer a solution, only criticize what is going now.

Had they articulated their solution (or had the republicans articulated it for them), we would not have lost.

Cheney. I have been a George W Bush supporting since the 70's when he ran for congress here in West Texas, but today.... he is just falling apart. I love him, I support him, but this is painful and he just needs to stop talking.

He is flustered....

This is why I've always liked Bush..

He's simply a No Bullsh*t kind of guy....

We LOST, time to move on, get over it...
recriminations help no one, and most of us here thought the American electorate had ennough brains to know better...

But Even I had forgotten what a management Prof taught in college:

"If you're writing a manual for High School Graduates, it nust be written to the comprehension Level of an 8th grader..."
