I fear you are right it will be a sad day if Rumsfeld has to pay the price for the inadequacies of Republicans in Congress.

The American people, in their hearts, want to win in Iraq, and that means really pouring it on. Way more troops, way more aggressive rules of engagement. My perception is that Bush, like his father, is too afraid of pissing people off, not realizing that he will piss off CNN and the French no matter what he does, because he has an R next to his name. Consequently, he has not fought in Iraq as aggressively as he should. If he wants to save '08, he is going to have to really get aggressive in Iraq. I think he started realizing that towards the end of this cycle, but it was too little too late.

... and by sitting out of this election we did not help our cause.

Yep. I never did understand HOW getting Democraps elected helps the GOP / Conservatives...

Kidding? No I am not. The elections are over. I personally did everything I could possibly have done to help our cause... but we LOST.

I am positive the war will change in someway and you will see people to start expressing different thoughts on the war here and everywhere. The great debate, as they call it.

One of the great things FR has to be proud of...is that we all did our duty so to speak. We all UNITED and put all other issues, differences away for the election. I, myself decided to shut up and say nothing that could hurt the elections. BUT the elections are over and I am sure we'll start arguing again pretty soon.

As a "values voter" I am happy the Constitution Amendments to protect marriage passed in 7 of the 8 states, except for ARIZONA!....Which surprised me!... I thought Colorado would the "progressive" one, but no, they did beautifully: Passed the Amendment and defeated the Referendum... by good margins both!... but ARIZONA?...huh?... and then I realized that weasel McCain is the their senator... and so I wonder if there is a connection there :)

In Summary, I think the base came out and did support the GOP, but the independent vote was the one that made the difference. But, as depressed as I feel today (took the day off :), I don't see this as the end of the world, but rather as an opportunity to recharge our batteries, take inventory of what we have done... and get ready for 2008. Just my opinion... no reason to get all upset about it.. not yet anyway :)

MSM:--Well we did out job well... Don't forget our cheer-leading team Republicans... WE ARE YOUR ENEMY!!.. dont' you forget it!

The Rats won't go for impeachment because to do so would take at the minimum a year's worth of hearings only to know that the Senate couldn't muster the 67 votes it would take for removal. Basically Bush is a lame duck along with the rest of the Government for at least the next 2 years and that's probably ok for the Rats because their Clinton Campaign season starts next week.

All politics are local is the saying and to an extent this is true.

As much as I applaud and go with Conservative principles both sides of the pond (slightly different but basically the same, small government and less taxes), one has to be realistic and centre is where you will win today in most cases though individual races are different.

That is why I will support my current party leader David Cameron he is what the Conservatives in Britain need to get elected in the present climate. Once elected whether you change and even replace is different but you can do nothing without power.

Tony Snow has already said the President has said this presents a unique opportunity in our history to work for "immigration reform" with the Democrats.

I repeat - The wanted this to happen. We've been had.

The President must be gracious, but he shouldn't regard this as a defeat; he should regard this as an ATTACK.

He will find no friends on the Democrat side. The same people who called our troops Nazis, who thinks they're stupid, and have called him every name in the book for 6 years now hold the power to ruin this country.

His job is to prevent that from happening.

I hope Rove slips him a photocopy of the words, enlarged, "ALL ENEMIES FOREIGN *AND DOMESTIC*"...

Agreed my father warned me about the evils of Islam and what it wanted to do to our way of life when I was a small child and he said it went back to Ottoman empire and beyond.

This is nothing new but the realization of the threat is only just becoming more obvious to people who do not study world history and yesterday's results may set this realization back decades if we do not keep the message going.

Well, I just can't believe that Bush will just DUMP Rumsfeld.

And ... if TWO YEARS of Pelosi as House Leader doesn't
get our side energized for 2008, nothing will...

Look at it this way:

1994 GOP take the House; 1996 Clinton is reelected

1998 GOP takes a hit, but holds on; 2000 Bush is elected

My point is that voters took out some frustration on the incumbent party only to elect that party's nominated candidate two years later.

Maybe 2008 will be like that.

Democrats are in control, and they want amnesty. Bush will get along fine with the Dems on this issue.

House legislation like HR4437 is DOA!
