Didn't miss the point at all. Because I don't agree with a couple of you doesn't mean I missed the point. Simply means I disagree with you which of course I realize you don't allow but.....sorry, I have never been the type to care whether or not someome whom I have never met and never will likes whether or not I agree with their opinion. Have a nice day.

I am very upset at what I am seeing in our party. It appears the Republican's in office are GIRLY MEN as they won't stand up to anything the Dems do and won't even fight to make sure they really did lose in an election. If Webb had lost by a couple of 1000 votes in VA how many weeks do you think the race would have drawn on? He would have fought. I wish Allen had the GALL to do that as well.

One thing that REALLY needed to be done while they had the majority was to get firm voting laws in all states and make all voters provide a PICTURE and OFFICIALLY ISSUED ID before casting a ballot!!

SHAME ON THE REPUBLICANS FOR NOT GETTING THIS DONE WHILE THEY HAD A CHANCE. The ramifications for this are too bleak to put in words.

How on earth can he win the Presidential primary when he's lost reelection as a Senator?

I didn't see anyone saying anything about him winning the primary. Certainly not me. At least recently. I believe my last comment was somewhere about a week before the election and I said he'd have to win by a comfortable margin to still have a chance for 2008. But even then I wasn't speculating.

My point was that for months a whole gaggle of FReepers kept trashing Allen because he wasn't their choice for 2008. The point being that we shouldn't have been worrying about 2008 because he had to win 2006.

The point being that there's a whole gaggle of FReepers who inadvertently contributed to Allen's defeat.

Right you are. Sadly freepers and conservative pundits who weren't on allens 2008 bandwagon probably cost us the senate. They easily cost us 10k votes in that election. Instead of holding their ammo for after 2006, they got giddy and dumped on allen because they were afraid of him and they were petty. I hope there happy, they got their wish and knocked allen out of 2008, but they cost us the senate in the process. Webb campaign was citing plenty of republicans to bash allen over the head, i hope they are proud.

Allen may be out for 2008, but i wouldn't dance on his political grave just yet. Remember, bush lost a race for congress went on to win governor/etc. Clinton lost as governor and went on to rewin it. He took a shot in 1988 and everyone thought he was a joke. GHW Bush lost 2 senate elections i think, and still went on to win later. Reagan lost twice at the presidential primaries and we all know what happened. Carter i think lost the governorship, i forget when. Nixon lost the governorship and the presidential race and we all know what happpened.

I wouldn't count him out just yet.
