"You deign to challenge the accuracy of LS's studied, reasoned judgment on the basis of your gut feel?"

Weeeeellllllll, 'twould appear my 'gut feel', based on unemotional, reasoned, logical analysis may just have been correct. As much as I wanted different results, I could just see this happening.

In politics, much like football, I don't let 'home team spirit' shade reality.

It's posted on the other thread, Losers and Winners.

Maybe it was you who said, "Turnout does not equal OUR voters." We had turnout like crazy, but they voted Dem.

Would you care to comment?

That's why I popped in to this thread again.

Not so much to rub salt....more of a rubber-necking-at-the-corpse-on-the-side-of-the-road-at-the-accident -scene kind of thing.

I posted it here, Sam: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1734821/posts, so that everyone could see---not just the rubber-neckers :)

I saw. Some of the people were -- I felt -- unnecessarily harsh with you. You merely reported the facts you had.... such as the high turnout numbers.

Maybe it was you who said, "Turnout does not equal OUR voters."

No, I think I said, "Whaddoo I know? I just work here."

LOL. That's what about 40 Republicans are saying, but only for a couple of months.

That was quite a show we put on yesterday, wasn't it?

How many here feel foolish for going along with the rosy picture? While I didn't buy into it myself, I did start to hope a bit more, and I am rather annoyed that this thread was so truly INSANE about it all.

This kind of lunacy has no place here, don't you think?

Show? I never once posted anything I didn't believe based on turnout numbers that I had obtained myself.

In was a valid model in 2002. It was valid in 2004. Obviously, something changed in 2006. But other than polls---which we had all seen fail in both 2002 and 2004---we didn't have any evidence that a high GOP turnout would possibly yield anything OTHER than a GOP victory. And the numbers were staggering, far better than we hoped.

The problem was obviously many Rs were voting D. So while the optimism was misplaced, it was grounded in two election cycles' worth of experience. Like they say in football, you keep running the same play till the stop it. Well, they finally stopped it. So time for a new play.
