NYT Reporting Friday, Sources Say: U.S. Posting of Iraq Nuke Docs on Web Could Have Helped Iran
Drudge Report ^ | November 2, 2006

Posted on 11/02/2006 7:14:31 PM PST by West Coast Conservative

Federal government set up Web site -- Operation Iraqi Freedom Document Portal -- to make public a vast archive of Iraqi documents captured during the war; detailed accounts of Iraq's secret nuclear research; a 'basic guide to building an atom bomb'... Officials of the International Atomic Energy Agency fear the information could help Iran develop nuclear arms... contain charts, diagrams, equations and lengthy narratives about bomb building that the nuclear experts say go beyond what is available elsewhere on the Internet and in other public forums...

Website now shut... Developing...

Wow!!! What an utter INDICTMENT of the mainstream media for ignoring this information for the past THREE YEARS. This is a GOLDMINE of an admission of incompetence and bias on the part of the mainstream media, but I doubt it will be reported that way.

Bottom line: This will help vindicate what the President has been saying all along. We should all thank the NY Times for finally doing its job.

Iraq was not supposed to have any documents related to the "know how" of building WMD, let alone a nuclear weapon. This is the ultimate proof that Iraq has violated the UN sanctions and that they wanted to re-build their nuclear program.

It's so weak, it may be a bait-and-switch tactic. The real "surprise" is still a surprise.

"But, but, but...I thought that Saddam wasn't seeking Nuclear weapons and had completely shut his program down. Talk about dazed and confused."

You are not alone. 1st there were no programs, no WMD and now we are aiding Iran?

Even Kerry and Clinton would have problems parsing this logic.

they don't think .. this is meant as a hit piece before an election to blame us for Iran's nukes instead of those who actually helped Iran build them and those who actually turned a blind eye to what Iran has been doing

All one has to do is google and you'll find many articles of Iran .. you'll find they were working on nukes long before those documents were ever posted

Okay, this will hurt Republican candidates how?

If Saddam had such hot nuke tech, then it bolsters the need for the invasion, i.e. Bush was right!

NY Times will wake up tomorrow and take a hard gulp when they realize they outsmarted themselves. NY Times is the "John Kerry" of newspapers. LOL!!!

I was mostly being sarcastic, but you are absolutely correct. Besides, I get the very distinct feeling Kerry's parsing days are over.

Hope the WH is smart enough to point out that this proves that Saddam had an active nuclear development program, thereby demonstrating that he was a gathering threat....

This also seems like a glaring indictment of the Clinton Administration. If they had this information, why and the world did they not pursue UN action against Iraq?

In fact, a few minutes ago I was looking for ElBaradei's name and found a BOOK outlining these very concerns in relationship to the IAEA...from 1982.

So this certainly isn't new.
