I have seen estimates that Ford polls 5 points higher than is actually accurate because people don't wish to be seen as racist when asked who they plan to vote for.
I had rather be seen a racist than a complete FOOL!!!!!
Anyone that could vote for Jr. is just plain evil!
That corresponds to the last governor's race in Louisiana. Polls consistently showed Bobby Jindal was leading Blank-oh by about three points. However, come election day, he lost by about two points.
The polling logic was that Jindal's polls were inflated by political correctness, while his vote totals were depressed by racism.
I think conservatives have a greater tendency not to take polls because don't trust them in the first place.
This says the polls were taken Oct 7-9. The Ford/Corker debate was on Oct 7
IMHO Corker did much better than Ford. Don't know how many folks in TN watched the debate, but if many did, I suspect that may have swayed at least a few.
Here's the live debate thread, in case you're interested:

Here's a thread on the (bogus) DSCC poll - It was taken Oct 2-4. There is disputing info in some of the posts:

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) is releasing a new poll today that shows Ford with a seven-point lead over Corker, 51% - 44%. Hamilton Beattie & Staff conducted the survey among 800 likely voters statewide from October 2 to October 4, 2006. The margin of error was 3.3%.

Here are a couple of other articles on Ford, that weren't so flattering to him (of course, I don't think the MSM talked about these as much as they did Allen/macaca, Allen/Jewish heritage, etc.)
