If it would come to Rudy running as GOP presidential candidate against Hilarity, there would be a very big and very active 3rd Party conservative candidate come forth. I would vote for that person. I am dismayed that many Freepers would give up their basic political tenents anti-abortion, pro-gun, anti-gay etc. so easily. I am glad you guys weren't around in 1776, we would all still be British subjects.

Yeah right. The GOP nominated a socialist in 2000 and 2004, and yet no third party materialized. Rudy is acceptable to me, as long as he brings forward an agenda that is strongly fiscally conservative.

In '92 and again in '96 a 3rd party candidate emerged, and many took him for a conservative. Plain spoken, roll up the sleeves and fix it kind of guy.

Had you guys not been around in '92, and bought into the Perot BS, while ignoring the Clinton BS, we would have been spared eight years of national humiliation!

I share your dismay. I think a lot of Republicans think it won't matter if a social liberal gets the party's 2008 Presidential nomination. And, if this happens, and such a candidate loses, they'll blame those of us who failed to support said candidate. So be it. If the Republican Party is so blind to the fact that they will lose a huge chunk of us social conservatives by putting forth a moderate, then it will be a hard lesson that they will learn. Fighting domestic terrorism in the womb is not something I'm willing to set aside by voting for a RINO, regardless of his stand on the War on Terror. So, if this comes to pass, yeah, I'll support a real conservative 3rd party candidate. I'm more concerned about having to answer for my actions to God on Judgment Day, than the flames I may endure from fellow Republicans that seem to eagerly endorse candidates like Guiliani. I'm already disappointed in my outgoing state senator who has taken the statewide leadership role for Pataki's campaign. He was reputed to be a hardcore conservative, but I guess maybe the price was right to cast aside conservative principles.

Tell it like it is!

I'm tired of all this coalition building and compassionate conservatism. I'm tired of seeing stories in the local paper like how a nine passenger van has a blowout on the highway, flips and 17 illegal Mexicans go to the ER with serious injuries while the driver flees.......

I could go on a while.....
