Rudy for president?

Well-connected public figures report that they have been told recently by Rudolph Giuliani that, as of now, he intends to run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008.

The former mayor of New York was on top of last month's national Gallup poll measuring presidential preferences by registered Republicans, with 29 percent. Sen. John McCain's 24 percent was second, with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich third at 8 percent. National polls all year have shown Giuliani running either first or second to McCain, with the rest of the presidential possibilities far behind.

Republican insiders respond to these numbers by saying rank-and-file GOP voters will abandon Giuliani once they realize his position on abortion, gay rights and gun control. Party strategists calculate that if he actually runs, he must change on at least one of these issues.

I sure would love to see J.D. Hayworth run for the Presidency - he's got the qualities any true conservative would love and he's a straight shooter.

Allen comes across as a dork, the democrats would destroy him as being Bush lite.

no dems:"All of these poll numbers will change once Condi Rice throws her hat in the ring."

mathprof:"Let's hope. I doubt it seriously, though."

The problem here is that Rice is NOT going to throw her hat into the ring. Now I think she is ambitious enough that she MIGHT be interested in the position of V.P. but I take her at her word when she says she isn't going to run.

You looked really cute in the first movie but you should never have let Jabba put in in that skimpy outfit. It just wasn't you.

" Remember now, libs and moderates were screaming bush and reagan had no gravitas either and i think they turned out fine."

Allen has real problems with gravitas and to pretend otherwise is fantasy land. He does not project an image of strength and maturity.
He is the Rick Lazio of national politics and will be devoured by the she demon in debates.

At least I like Rudy. That's more than I can say for the rest of them. I would like to see Newt debate Hillary, though. He'd shred her.

Third party brought us eight years of Clinton.

No, "read my lips" and "I'm Bob Dole" brought US 8 years of bubba. If the Stupid Party insist on repeating this again, we'll get 8 years of Hitlery. The balls in the RNC's court. Kick it or pick it up and leave the playground. Your choice! Blackbird.

Physical presentation cannot be discounted-Bob Dole looked old , AlGore and Kerry looked like Frankenstein wannabes and Hillary looks like a gonad chomping, she demon from hell.

If this is the case, then why would you Giuliani has even a prayer of winning in 2008? He's a short, bald guy who wears glasses and speaks with a lisp. He gets marks against him on all of those superficial qualities.

Funny, those attacks were tried on him (being a lightweight idiot) in 1993 and 2000 and he won both of those races decisvely against very strong incumbents.

For you to insist that he has problems with gravitas shows your in the twilight zone. You attempt to throw around typical liberal charges are pathetic and almost amusing. Doing them in hopes of taking down someone who has a much better shot of winning the nomination (and yes he will go on to beat her thighness) than rudy.

Allen will walk all over rudy in debates. Despite what you rudy pimpers consistently allege, Allen is a good debater and he proved in in 1993 and 2000, he will prove this year and in 2008. Just because you repeat something over and over doesn't make it true, but can we blame you? Your trying to pimp up a pro gay pro abort pro illegal pro gun control adulterous rino for your candidate. I'd be pretty desperate if i was trying to pimp him too.

"If a social liberal Republican loses it will be because of the so called moral conservatives, like yourself, who would refuse to vote for them and let a Democrat win instead."

Wrong! If our party decides to sell-out the moral principles that it has claimed to hold since Ronald Reagan was our great president, then it will reap what it deserves. If those who were willing to go along and sell-out themselves wish to whine and blame those of us who ARE (not "so-called") moral conservatives, so be it. I will not worry about answering to such whiners. It is God that I have to answer to, nobody else. He will not be asking me on Judgment Day why I chose to turn my back on the innocent unborn and vote for a pro-abort (not to mention pro-gay, anti-gun) man for president. At the grassroots level, we need to demand more from this great party of Reagan. Otherwise, we will slide into the Zell Miller version of the Republican Party. You know, "I didn't leave the Republican Party, it left me."

I do not believe Rudy could beat Hillary for the senate in his own state.

The MSM are pushing for Rudy, Romney or McCain.

I'd take Rudy over McCain any day.

At least Rudy is never going to turn the administration upside down trying to find out who stole the wardroom strawberries.

"I do not believe Rudy could beat Hillary for the senate in his own state."

I believe he would.
Remember, Hitlery got a considerably smaller percentage of the votes in New York than Algore did in 2000, and even Hanoi John got in 2004.

Not a very good sign for Hitelry.

Groan.
There you go with your airhead rant about Rudy's "looks" again.
That's about as relevant as the brand of shoes Rudy wears.
Its of no consequence.

What "looks" did Eisenhower have again?
And Hilary Clinton has got hot "looks" does she?

You really are a fool.

Not only am I a fool, but I proud to share that trait with a certain Thomas Jefferson and a James Madison.

Both the gentlemen, even against their wishes, accepted the principle of Judicial Review.

Too bad the other two are dead or they would also have the pleasure and honor of being lectured on "original intent" from a scholar such as yourself.

Oh, please.

I was responding to a poster who insisted that age and looks are major factors in presidential elections.
