CNN's Cafferty pleads guilty to hit-run
Atlanta Journal & Constitution: CNN morning anchor Jack Cafferty pled guilty in a May 14 hit-and-run accident. According to the criminal complaint, Cafferty made an abrupt turn and hit bicyclist Billy Maldonado.

About five people tried to stop Cafferty by running after the car, according to the complaint, but the newsman continued through at least two red lights, while dragging the bicycle underneath the vehicle. Maldonado, 48, who was knocked to the ground, suffered bruises and some bone damage.

Cafferty was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, assault and harassment. He was allowed to plead guilty to a traffic violation: Operating a motor vehicle knowing or having cause to know property damage had been caused. He was sentenced to 70 hours of community service, with six months to complete it, and a $250 fine. He also made restitution.

The complaint said Cafferty told police he saw the bicyclist get off the ground but didn't realize he had hit him. "I am unaware I was in an accident," he said.
Maldonado's attorney Suzanne Holzberg said her client still needs an operation on his right elbow.

I can imagine the condescending remarks this ass-clown would have for a Fox anchor with such a history.

As is common practice, though, when you're one of the liberalfascist establishment, it is treated as if it never happened.

Wow! I never knew that (if a politician had done this it would have led the newscast every night for two years running!Amazing how reluctant journalists can be about airing their colleagues' dirty laundry) Although I think he was hired originally to fill the "cantankerous contrarian" slot to boost the network's ratings & promote the "appearance of ideological diversity" in the newsroom, he's turned out to be a pretty sad joke.I always suspected that he might have a problem with drinking on the job (he slurs a lot and can often be totally incoherent, even by CNN standards) but I assumed his bosses would make sure someone else would drive him home. I cycle so this would be my worst nightmare... If I have to leave this world, please don't let it be at the hands of some drunken Chicken Noodle Network Hack.(I don't hate everyone at CNN,honestly, Miles O'Brien's actually pretty decent in fact, but John Roberts positively makes my stomach turn, so they've lost me entirely & forever for fear I'll even get the slightest glimpse of him on a promo & lose my lunch.)
