Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., has a new ally in his effort to torpedo an environmentally friendly "wind farm off the coast from the Kennedy compound in Hyannis the Pentagon.
The Defense Department has begun a study to find out if wind turbine projects designed to produce energy could interfere with military radar even though wind farms are already operating in military radar areas.
The study is threatening not only the Cape Wind project off the coast of Massachusetts, but other wind farm projects around the country as well.
The study was inserted in the 2006 Defense Authorization Act by senators who want to block Cape Wind, according to wind farm developers cited by the Washington Post.
"This legislation was intended to derail Cape Wind, but it has a boomerang effect and affected a lot of projects around the country, Michael Skelly of Horizon Wind Energy, which is building the nations largest wind farm near Bloomington, Ill., told the Post.
Wind turbine facilities in the works in Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota and Illinois have received word from the federal government that the projects must be put on hold while the study is ongoing.

Good Lord. Wind farms screw up military radar? I don't believe it.

Kennedy and his ilk's political clout and influence reaches far...probably Clinton appointees and hires within the Pentagon and Defense Department.

I'm beginning to agree with the senior Senator from Chappaquiddick. No wind farm should be built in Nantucket Sound.
However, there's no reason why we can't build a nuke plant somewhere around there.

The study is threatening not only the Cape Wind project off the coast of Massachusetts, but other wind farm projects around the country as well. That is assuming the result before the study is completed. It may prove there is no concern and lose one more baseless argument against wind energy.

Several wind farms are within this range of military radar with no problems.
This is a red herring.

Radar won WW2 -- but is now useless as a third teat on a cat.
Time to close down all military radar since he enemy can shut it off with WINDMILLS.

Man!! You just got to wonder about all this crap, it seems like we're shoveling $#it against the tide. They scream for wind farms, than when you put it in their backyard the NIMBY's (kennedys-Kerrys)scream bloody murder and get the Pentagon on their side. Has the Pentagon ever opposed a wind farm before??

I can't see how. Most of these are too low to the ground and have blades made of composite plastic materials rather than metal. Therefore they would reflect little if any radar energy.
Besides, I believe that radars can run baseline readings to filter out any results caused by wind farms.
Sounds like Kennedy whispered in someones ear to get that inserted into the report.

The Kennedy organization's 'corrupt coalition' constituency is probably invested in current overly-centralized, polluting energy sources, and is highly threatened by clean, natural energy production that's easily decentralized like wind, mini-hydro, solar -- to the point where the natural energy sources can be home-based.
And where would the current corrupt, polluting energy industry companies/trade associations be then?

Evidently, the Pentagon is required to do the study by legislation. As evidenced by this article, they'll be used as 'proof', because of the study they have to undertake, that they are against the wind farm.
We really need to repeal the 17th amendment. It's one of the worst things to happen to this republic, such as it is now.

From the recesses of my memory of totally useless information: I think there's a place called Block Island off the coast of
Rhode Island, which isn't an island. Back in the early 1980s, somebody put up some windmills. The residents
complained of tv reception interference, and got free basic cable, iirc.
In other words, methinks some Dim plant in the Pentagon is helping Uncle Ted out, yet again.

I was watching some late night show that was discussing the amount of crap that remains in the colon of sick FAT people. The show claimed that Elvis Presley had about 40 pounds of fecal material stuck on the walls of his colon when he died. I wonder how many pounds of fecal matter that old Teddy has stuck in his Colon, maybe 150 to 250 pounds. It also stated as the colon becomes coated with fecal matter that the size of the colon can grow to an enormous size which is unhealthy and effects the brain.
I also wonder how big Teddy's Liver must be with the alcohol content of his bloodstream on a daily basis. I've heard that some drunks have livers that weigh up to 80 pounds from all the sugar in alcohol. Teddy is surely living a life of hell with all that weight and poor health habits. He belongs on the streets, with the street bums so he can lose some of his weight and cleanse his colon by drinking cheap street wines.
Of course that would really give our nations street bums a real bad name with him roaming the streets drunk. He just might carjack a car with some young lady in it and drown her when he drives off the side of a bridge in the darkness of night with no witnesses to confirm the story. Only this time he couldn't claim he swam for 20 hours to go get help. I doubt this colon and liver weighted anchor could muster more than 40 strokes before he went gurgle, gurgle, gurgle, to the bottom of the pond himself. Oh what an irony that would be. On the bright side, most sea faring animals that might feed on a dead person, would find little flavor chewing on 250 pounds of encrusted fecal material stuck on the inside walls of his colon. Although they may find his sugar bloated liver a might bit tasty and intoxicating.

ECO-PING
FReepmail me to be added or removed to the ECO-PING list!
The ECO-ping is back after a few months off. A new job, a move, and the general stresses of life didn't leave me much time to peruse my favorite Internet hangout. While I still won't have the time to flood all of your ping lists with several articles a day, I will be chiming in on a regular basis (for better or worse).
What a better article to get back into things with than this that further exposes the hypocrisy of the earth-friendly left!!
