Register Democrat just to tick my parents off, and still am. However it my be for the best, god I would love to be able to get more Conservatives in the Democratic Primary's. Heck I really don't care what party they come from as they vote like I want them too.

Grew up in uber-liberal Westchester Co. NY, then when I joined the Army during the Reagan years, and could see clearly, morphed into a card carrying member of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy!!

The GOP is rudderless and W is asleep at the switch domestically.

Frist and Hastert are ineffectual retards who have screwed the pooch so badly only the fact that the other party is if you can believe even more incompetent will probably prevent a massacre this November

Americans are confronted with a choice between a group of Democrat socialist perverts and a group of Republican corporate shills, both of which are ready to sell the common man out at the drop of a hat if it means holding onto their perks.

TERM LIMITS NOW!!

I was very liberal in the 80s, though began to change as I started to appreciate Ronald Reagan's approach to the USSR and world affairs. Three big turning points for me were: (1) the realization that liberals made it impossible even to discuss rationally subjects like welfare reform, crime and depravity, the real sources of economic vitality, etc.; (2) the 'borking' of Robert Bork and then Clarence Thomas, which showed the world that so many liberals like Teddy the Swimmer are completely dishonest and unscrupulous, and (2) Saddam's invasion of Kuwait, which showed that the spineless left would lie down even in the face of a blatant attempt by a fascist dictator to take over all of the Middle East's oil supplies (the Gulf states would have been next if we had not booted Saddam back to Iraq). By the start of the 1990s I was thoroughly disillusioned with weasel liberalism on just about every level.

I was once a Democratic voter during my stupid years when I first got the responsibility to vote. But as a person matures he begins to see things differntly and I became a Republican after seeing what Carter did to this country while I was in the service.

I was not only a liberal, I was in theory a communist. Wacknut extreme.

What changed me?

I realized God existed, and He makes the laws.

Me!

Voted for Dukakis, Clinton twice.

Wised up when I moved to a really liberal place and read a really liberal paper.
I realized I wasn't really liberal after all.
And the Monica thing helped as well.

I wore a McGovern for Pres. t-shirt at the age of 16 in 1972. Naturally, I was spooked by the Vietnam War. Confused. I do not remember ever rooting whole-heartedly for a liberal cause, seemingly could see both sides of most arguments. By the time any description of the world finally made sense to me, it was conservative one.

So no, I wasn't a liberal or Democrat that switched.

I think I was a liberal when I was 7 or 8 years old. Of course I didn't even know what a liberal was then. I remember loving Reagan after seeing him on TV after the Challenger disaster. I believe that's my first memory of a president. Been drifting to the right ever since lol.

In the Denver airport 1973. I had a full cast on one arm and a wrist cast on the other. I was wearing my 1505s and flying military reserve.

A little girl came up to me and asked about the casts. Before I could explain, her mother came up and said "Don't talk to him he is a soldier. She spit out the word soldier like she just ate a turd.

That was my awakening. As long as I am alive it will never happen again.

My parents are Reagan democrats and I came of age during Reagan's terms, so I've always been and probably always will be a political mongrel, happily.

I was married to a union man when I first voted, so was a democrat. I call myself a "Bubba Clinton Republican" now...He made me physically ill when he first appeared on TV. I wonder sometimes if America will ever recover from his disaster of a presidency.

Flaming liberal through college. "Impeach Reagan" banners after election day.

Considered myself liberal in law school, but friends thought I was conservative because of the way I thought.

Considered myself a moderate voting for Clinton (the first time).

Became conservative when I did some reading about environmental junk science.

Shot a firearm for the first time 10 years ago. Gun nut now.

Cried watching Reagan's funeral.

Disappointed in Bush, ready to join the cynics who can't tell the difference between the parties.

Virtually everyone of the WWII generation, born of immigrants were DEMOCRATS because of FDR. My parents were Democrats but they WERE NOT TODAY's LIBERAL but Liberals in the classic sense.

It wasn't until 1966, having been in the military for 6 years, that I became a REPUBLICAN........with that, I am sure there is no reason or need, to explain WHY!

My parents [and relatives of that generation] remained Democrats until the day they died.

As oderous as Dims became, even with ABORTION, my Catholic family could not force themselves to side with the EVIL RICH Republicans.

Me. Grew up in a liberal household. I even voted for Dukakis the first time. [shudder!]

I started becoming conservative when I served a mission for 2 years in Argentina, and saw how good we have it in the United States compared to most of the rest of the world.

Got back from Argentina, found Rush on the radio, and started reading.

started listening to a radio show in San Diego called "from left to right" with a very young Allen Colmes and Barry Farber".

Barry's arguements were based on logic, Allen's flew in the face of all reason. Then Allen started defending OJ after he hacked Nichole and Ron to death. That was when I realized liberals lie about everything all the time. Then I found Rush Limbaugh and my discussions with liberal friends ended when they called him all the stereotypes without ever listening once to his show.

That's when I realized liberals have a gradeschool mentality and are bound by all the dysfunctions associated with "groupthink" (self sensorship, information gardianship, austracisation of those with counter opinions, etc...)

The years have proven all those assessments accurate. The one I hate the most are liberal attacks on successful minorities and the racist hate they have for minority who would dare leave their precious liberal plantation.

basicly...

I was an idiot. Growing up in Massachusetts in the early '60's and going to a Catholic school, well, let's just say I almost fainted when I got to shake hands with Ted Kennedy when he first ran for the U.S. Senate in '62.

Then, back in the early '70's, I had a big crush on (aarggh!) - Dan Rather. He was actually pretty good looking back then.

The day Nixon resigned, I was sick to my stomach at what the media had done to this good man, but I was still conflicted in my ideology.

What really turned me conservative was the 1976 election. The hair on the back of my neck stood up whenever I saw the evil grin of Jimmy Carter.

Loved President Reagan, liked Dad Bush, loathed Clinton. I still love President GW, but disagree with him on immigration.

Still and all, just looking at how 40 years of liberalism has messed up this country, I don't know how anybody with a brain can be liberal.

I converted when I read John Kerry's phony war record and his do-nothing in the Senate...not to mention a haughty attitude.

I never became a liberal and have no plans on being liberal..I'm 25.
I have been brived though college scholarships and even shamed into becoming a liberal...I never took a bait.

I always was conservative..Since I could remember. My family even knew before I even knew because I enjoyed doing house hold chores, even doing homework, and disliked California's snack tax.

Now I can tell you when I became a Republican. I became a Republican offically in 2002 after I confronted by a Republican who later became a mentor and began to intern for Republicans. Despite assiting in many Conservative Republican candiates as early as 1996. I signed up to be an Independent in 2000 due to various safety.

I almost became a Democrat due to I became volunteering for community causes since 1988 and inorder to political intern at the age of 16 in California most people are forced to swear to liberalism. After liberals in the state of California as well as other places in nation have put down the Lord...Liberalism is not my cup of tea..for live.
