If the RINO's sided with the Democrats on everything, including Committee Chairmanships, you would have a point.

But that's the elegance of the whole thing. They DON'T side with the democrats on everything.

The fact that they are always willing to sell us out is what gives them their power.

They are playing the democrats in the same way they are playing us, and the fact that they act like democrats, but run as republicans gives the leftists a measure of credibility they wouldn't have if they were exclusive to a single party.

It is a double-edged sword, to be sure.

The poll is moot. After hearing Joe Klein the other day on TV I've come to the conclusion that everybody had a SBD released in close proximity to them a while ago and the putrid vapors are only now being smelt.
He said, paraphrasing, that Shillary! wouldn't run for POTUS and would stay in the Senate and be there for twenty years.
That is almost as scary as 4 years of her as POTUS.

"We already survived her once"

Yes, and I do not want to have to go through that again.

An update...

How would you vote if it's McCain vs Hillary in '08?

Third Party
37.8%

McCain
37.2%

Sit it out
13.3%

Undecided
8.1%

Hillary
3.6%

[ Details · Polls ]

McCain is still getting edged out by "any other nut" among our informal sampling of conservative activist types. Why does this matter? Because we are conservative activist types! How many FReepers walk precincts or man phone banks for the GOP? How many will if a RINO gets the Party's support?

You're right. I forgot mcpain was a real conservative. Thanks for reminding me. /sarc

Your sarcasm is poorly realized and stupid. McCain is far more conservative than Hillary Clinton. Real conservatives will choose the more conservative of the two candidates capable of winning any presidential election in order to prevent the election of the liberal candidate. Anyone telling you otherwise is a bogus conservative.

Real conservatives don't enable Democrats by voting third party.

I will still walk the precincts and volunteer, even if the nominee is McCain - especially against Hillary.

My worry is that it may be you and the crickets walking if the GOP powers-that-be insist upon a RINO in '08.

That is the problem here.

Giuliani vs Clinton?

No question I vote Giuliani on the social issues he would be a train wreck but he would be good on defense and foreign policy. Or he would be better then Clinton at any rate. But McCain is at best flaky. At worse he is totally off his nut.

Putting a unstable person in charge of the US military is unacceptable. Put him in charge of foreign policy is unacceptable. And when it comes down to it those are the two powers that a president owns. The place where he would be unacceptable is the very place where he would have free rein.

If it comes down to this then in the primaries I am going with whoever can beat McCain.

Call me whatever name you wish. When it comes to the survival of the nation vs personal political philosophy then the personal political philosophy is going to have to take back seat. Social policy missteps can be corrected later in subsequent presidencies or through Congress.

But foreign policy missteps mean we pay in blood for decades. Neither of these candidates is acceptable for that reason.

John McCain, you treasonous bastard, I challenge you or any of your treasonous cohorts...

Chunga, you go right ahead and vote for conservative mcpain, that's your vote. So, unless there's been a revival of the poll tax and I don't have two nickles to rub together, I'll heed my own council and vote where my conscience leads me . I will not be badgered, bullied, harangued or berated to betray my beliefs.
