Sounds like Stan Lee is now getting his ideas from Pixar.

This whole plot line is "the Incredibles" on steroids.

There will be a cameo appearance by UltraHombre, El Guapo, La Jefa y the special action crossing team "Comedores Burrito Malolientes Repugnantes Gigantescos "

Don't forget the ultimate superhero: El Jorge con la Ley del Amitista y EUUA sin Fronteras!

missed out on that... eeeew.

I like a couple of the 'ultimate' line. The Ultimates, for reasons already outlined, and ultimate spider man, because one of my favoritest artists draws it (Bagley; love the 'borderline cartoon' style).

I always thought the whole 'gay hero(ine)' schtick was another sop to PC. I remember way back in the day when they first pulled the 'gay northstar' bit. It was like, OK, this guys either a pompous narcissistic horndog, or he's a closeted homosexual. Why, let's go GAY, 'cause that's far more timely!

Snicker.

I mean really, what are the odds? Let's assume for the sake of argument, that 'super humans' (mutant, or whatever) do exist; obviously they're a micro-microcosm of the human condition, otherwise how would they be any different from the norm (if everyone has super strength, invulnerability and flight, why, Superman isn't so super now, is he)?

So, into this microcosm you insert the 1 in 10 odds (generously speaking) of drawing the 'homosexual' card. Add to that, the two mentioned are mutants. What a way to 'advance the breed'! How does nature expect the ol' improved gene to advance, if daddy ain't makin' it with no women? I would think a mutant would, by their very nature, be less likely to be homosexual.

But, I ain't a biologist, I ain't a scientist. I just draw pictures. What do I know?

You're in the industry?

I like Bagley, too. I haven't seen his work since the Thunderbolts days, but I liked his run on the regular Amazing Spider-Man.

EL GUAPO: Would you say, that was a plethora of Mexican superheroes?

No, no...

Just a humble (heh heh) Graphic Designer/Artist working in the midwest...

Bagley I first noticed on one of his initial jaunts as main author, Strikeforce Morituri. I imagine I like his work for the same reason I like Frank Frazetta's, he seems to characterize with minimal details, while still producing a picture that doesn't make your brain do somersaults trying to interpret it.

To catch my meaning, check out Frank Miller's work, comparing his initial Batman, 'The Dark Knight Returns', esp. the first and second issues thereof, with his sequel (I forget the name; DK2?). His growing fascination with distortion and oversized feet makes it hard for me, personally, to enjoy the material. I just don't like his interpretation of the human figure. Yeah, I know, he puts big boobs on his girls. Still...

This series is getting pretty offensive. First of all, it seems clear that they are leading to the idea that the administration staged the initial explosion in order to get their legislation passed. Now, there was a second explosion during a fight between two heroes on opposite sides, and even that is being looked at as being deliberately caused. The whole thing is basically boiling down to an exploration of the wacky "Bush caused 9/11" conspiracy crap. To top it all off, the latest issue of Frontline equates the heroic, non-registration side to the NVA. They show the evil SHIELD agents coming after the non-regs, while in the attached panel they show the evil US Army coming after the NVA. A wounded US soldier is shown, and it is made clear by the current day panel that the Cong who wounded him was only defending himself.

Mark Millar said early on that the series would be fair to both sides of the debate. I should have known that would be a lie, coming from a guy whose dream job is to do a comic adaptation of Das Kapital. It's all about trying real hard to equate the good Marvel heroes to the terrorists, and to say the opposing Marvel heroes are just being led astray by the evil President. There can be no fairness when the deck is continually stacked to support your own side. Fair would have been to say, yes, there was a legitimate accident that claimed hundreds of lives, and yes, the government responded with legislation. Some agree with it, some don't. But, no. It has to be conspiracy crap.
