I haven't watched Today since BG joined. It is a lot a entertainment drivel dressed up as a news show. However, the sad fact is that millions of Americans get their news fix from Today and even a few watch the CBS evening news. I cannot imagine that Couric's replacement on today will be any worse, but then again I hear Chelsea Clinton could use a job...
Personally I think it is great that CBS is going with Couric. The evening news has become such a major joke, devoid of any real content, that it really is more appropriate to select a bubblehead entertainer than a serious journalist for this job.

Notice how CBS stock prices plunged immediately after the announcement.
Maybe it will manage to break even by the end of the day.
I am also betting that CBS will not dump her no matter how low the ratings go. Within five years most of the remaining CBS affiliates will dump the CBS evening newscast in favor of syndicated sitcom re-runs.
I bet there are some real ticked off female reporters at CBS that got passed over.
